savelli's italian restaurant is not only the best italian place to eat in knoxville, it is so cozy to be in the atmosphere with nothing but family is around to serve you. some people may say that the service is not that great but waitresses are people too, if you are polite to them then they will do the same to you. i know the girls personally and i love them, the whole family will come out of the kitchen just to have a conversation to see how my day is going. this restaurant is truly one of a kind. someone said something about the lasagna being frozen on here? that is a joke. people that like to spread rumors about false information need to just stay home and make their own food. i know food critics that travel the nation all year round and savellis is in their top picks. and who cares if the place is small, that is what makes it a diamond in the rough. in all honesty i cant find one bad thing about savellis to say. it is still a mom and pop place that has served knoxville for over 17 years, dont you think they are doing something right? give me a break lady!

Savellis has been in the same location for almost 17 years. dont you think they are doing something right? i mean closing at 8:30 because they all have families to go home to... If you are driving from somewhere far away, dont you think you should call ahead of time and make a reservation? anyone who knows savellis knows that everyone there is related and everyone has the up most respect for that. the owner elizabeth has not only been one of the nominees for top chef of knoxville, but i also have personal friends that travel the nation to critique food and savellis is in their top 3 restaurants nationally. i mean yes it is a small place but this is what they are known for. having a cozy comfortable italian restaurant that has nothing corporate about it. people that like to complain about parking and service just should not go out to eat. i have never heard anything negative about savellis so maybe you are the problem. good food and good service! i would go there everyday for lunch and dinner if i could!!! highly recommend!
Pros: the quality of the food...
Cons: nothing

It seems most of the reviews praise The Tomato Head's pizza. I'm not a pizza fan, but I love the Tomato Head for its salads. My favorite is the Greek salad. First of all, salads are very reasonably priced. Some casual dining restaurants have pushed salads up to $10 or so...not so here. Next, the salads are huge! It's almost always more than I can eat. Finally, the salads are very high-quality. It's not just a bowl of lettuce topped with a few cucumbers. The salads are packed with the good stuff...lots of feta cheese, tomatos, olives. I'm getting hungry just writing about the place! The Tomato Head is also one of the most relaxing restaurants in town. You don't wait long for your food, but there's no feeling that things are rushed. Waiters and waitresses aren't tripping over each other and bus boys aren't banging dishes. It's just a very peaceful place. I love it!

I had the regular pizza, and it is definitely a NY style pizza. One thing that is good is their pizza has the NY spices. My favorite places have more prevalent spices, but this is def. different than any place down here. The sauce is just ordinary, the crust is pretty good, I like the cornmeal dusting, but it's still missing a little bready oomph taste. The cheese is pretty much ordinary too. Still looking for the place. But this ranks up there so I'm giving it five stars. And to all you gf people freaking out about the service. You should just know that it takes them an hour to make it, and be happy they do make it.
Pros: Some of the best pizza you can find here.
Cons: I'm still looking for a pizza that can trully equal fav. NY

The Sunspot has to be one of my all time favorite places to eat. It was a great lunch hangout while in college and now a great date night place with my husband. He's a carnivore, I'm a veggie. This is one of the few places we can go together and both be happy. The food has a very distinct taste and flavor and it always fresh. The hummus is amazing and a must have for every table. A few years ago they expanded and made the bar area larger to add additional seating. A plus in my book because the wait can sometimes be a bit long on the weekends.

Mo' better food, mo' better fun and a mo' better dining experience. Mo Girgis and his wife, Seham, offer a delightfully authentic Egyptian menu in the most unlikely of places, south Knoxville. In a region known for its cheese grits and red eye gravy, the tiny unpretentious block building that houses King Tut's is surprisingly stuffed with Middle Eastern fare.
Egyptian specialties include a nicely spiced Baba Ghannoug and a deliciously irresistible hummus both served with freshly baked pita bread Or try the Greek salad, which includes the basics plus tangy feta cheese, hard-boiled egg, olives and a few pepperocini thrown in for good measure.
Entrees include the falafel and the foule mudammas sandwich. For the vegans in the crowd, Mo will subtract the yogurt sauce and add some spicy Egyptian salad. If you like the kick of the salad, you can order it as a side to go with your sandwich - it has a nice bite with lots of fresh tomatoes for balance.
For the less adventuresome, diners can choose from a basic American menu offering such Southern favorites as meatloaf and fried okra. And for good measure, ice tea and soda are served in huge flower vases. You won’t need a refill.
Bring your own bottle but don’t expect matching wine glasses. The charm of this establishment is in its eclectic nature. Mo does his best to entertain his patrons with jokes, karaoke and even puzzles. If you’re lucky, you might even get to hear your host sing.

Litton's is a great place for a relaxing, laid back meal with your closest friends. They have wonderful onion rings, burgers and great Caesar salads! The back room is a place you can hang out after your meal for hours and catch up. A very friendly staff and very accommodating to your needs, does not get better than that!

I eat at Louie's ALL the time. I simply cannot get enough of it! The spaghetti with meat sauce is my absolute favorite! Although I think the prices are getting a little steep for lesser portions, I think its worth it...I'd pay for two servings! Haha! There isn't enough words to do this restaurant justice. Check it out for yourself. I'm going to go get some NOW!

More
Nowhere else in Knoxville can you get 40 taps and pizzeria-style pizza. Beer selection is incredible. Atmosphere is ethereal. Pizza is one of the top 3, if not THE best in Knoxville. Beer + pizza = crazy good times.
I will not be completely one-sided though. I gave it four stars instead of five for two small reasons. One and a half, really. The main reason is, outside of pizza, the food is kind of blah. I did go recently and discovered that they had a great nacho appetizer, but my opinion about the menu as a whole remains the same. Nothing remarkable about it. They also eliminated the option to purchase a single slice during dinner hours. That was lame.
The other is rather minor. I consistently find myself waiting at length for my order. Let me clarify this because I believe it's the kitchen that's slow, not the servers whom I usually find to be quite attentive even while covering a large area. This is usually not a big deal because the reason I usually go is to chat and have a good time with several others. The atmosphere almost makes up for the long wait. But sometimes I am just downright hungry and if I'm not having the beer, I really miss the pizza even more.
There is usually good entertainment late at night, and I like to go when I can afford to stay up. During the summer (when school's out) you can usually see a great performance without getting crowded out. It tends to be a little loud though. I would prefer the music be in the background instead of the place turning into an auditorium at 10:00. But the place books great talent, and you can't complain about that. After all, you can always go upstairs where there's no cover and the noise gets drowned out a little bit. It's quieter up there but there's less seating.
