I want to start out with a little history. I am thoroughly impressed with this building.
In 1938, the Bama Theatre served as the community's grand movie house, as well as the only air-conditioned building at that time. The theatre was one of the last movie palaces built in the South. The building was an odd but interesting mixture of Art Deco style popular during the period and the lavish so-call "atmospheric" style of theatre architecture popular in the 1920s the interior is decorated in the Moorish style of Renaissance Spain. The house of the theatre is actually a reproduction of the courtyard of the Davanzati Palace of Florence, Italy. The entire orchestra and balcony sections are decorated as a Spanish courtyard, complete with balconies and ironwork. Twinkling stars and clouds on the night sky ceiling complete the open-air feel of the performance hall. The Theatre was converted to a performing arts center in 1976 and has been completely renovated for live theatrical use.
In the Summer of 1999, yet another dimension of entertainment was added, as the Bama once again began showing films. The classics as well as more recent movies are shown in the Silver Screen Series, making the Bama Theatre downtown Tuscaloosa's visual and performing arts center.
Now, to add to that:
Sometimes they show movies here. Sometimes they have pageants. Sometimes they are having a presentation of some sort and sometimes they have live music from orchestras to bluegrass. I will always adore this place because of the theatrical performances by their theatre department, Tuscaloosa Theatre. I remember the first play I saw here was Wizard of Oz as a child.
For a place that isn't very cultured, the Deep South, this is Tuscaloosa's piece of culture.

The salesman (Joey) that helped me buy my brand new Line 6 Spider IV 75 amplifier was real cool and knew his stuff. The price was $30.00 cheaper than Guitar Center AND they gave me a good trade value on my Marshall Valvestate 50.
I recommend them and will go back when I have money for a Taylor 114-CE.

There was a time this place was the only movie house around. Then it was a time that others opened and this movie house became the worst in Tuscaloosa county.
Right now it's still a little old fashioned, but, they show movies for $1.50.
Most of the movies they show are the ones getting ready to come onto dvd but in some rental places, you wouldn't be able to rent the dvd itself for what they charge to watch it on the big screen here.
I think they are starting to clean it up some because it isn't as bad as it used to be, but it's still a little grim.
My daughter, granddaughter and I went a week ago to see Over the Hedge. We thought it was funny that we spent $4.50 for all of us to see the movie, but it cost over $8 for a small nachos and small drink for my grandchild. But, I haven't seen a movie house yet that doesn't do that.
I didn't walk away with sticky soles of my shoes and I didn't get a nasty seat, or any other nasty thing that you once could get here. And, I noticed that crowds are starting to build back up here, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Bryant Museum has all kinds of stuff from the times of great Bama Football. It is especially heavy on its namesake, The Bear. There are video clips and displays and a conference room for group meetings. There is a nominal fee to enter but if you love SEC football it is really worth it because this is a huge collection of memorabilia.

To be clear the other person who wrote that the 'theatre seating' needs to do some research.....These style seats are called 'Stadium Seating' and most parts of the country have had them for 7 to 9 years, everytime I came home I hated going to the moview here and I do agree it's about time that Ttown got Stadium Seating Theatre and as far as they go, this is definitely a nice Theatre.

Decade Music is a place where I like to go to get stuff I need for either guitars or drums. I just like to go in and look at the guitars they get in to sale, to get down to it. They have some of the coolest ones. They also have different drums. They have top of the line stuff, so yeah, it's a little high in price sometimes. But, it doesn't cost any higher than if you got the same thing anywhere else. They have a few other band equipment too, I've seen bass in there before. Decade is a pretty good place, no complaints.

In this mini course, there is a beginner level and a challenge level with harder to master holes.
It is not pricey at all, and you really get your money's worth! It is an attractive place as well, without the "amusing" hole blockers that you often see in novelty mini golf courses. It is well kept and looks like a mini "professional" golf course.
They cater to birthday parties as well, so if your little golfer wants a golf themed birthday , this would be a good place to take a few friends for some birthday fun. It's a small place, so you should always call in advance if you ever have a big party with you. It's located right on Hwy 69 S.

super skate is still a great place to go sure times have changed and kids are in general worse these days than in the 80's but on afternoon sessions it is very family oriented. on night sessions it's more for kids 12-15 but parents are welcome to stay. the price has gone up like everything else but $8 for 4 hours at night is still a bargain. on the afternoon sessions it is still $5 for 3 hours and if you have your own skates you get a $1 discount. the snack bar prices are not high like at the movies. And their party prices are CHEAP!!!! $59 for 10 kids that's only $9 more than regular price. and all you do is bring the cake. Say what you want but in my opinion there aren't many things for families and young kids to do in this town why hold a business responsible for the lack of parenting that these kids are receiving at home. I am sure with a building full of know it all pre-teens/teens on friday/saturday it is not an easy job but atleast they try. Their are people in charge there trying to keep your children safe. do you think anyone is watching the door to make sure your child doesn't leave the mall or the movies? In all honesty no matter where you drop off your kids if you can't trust them to do as they should you shouldn't leave them. Superskate is in the entertainment business not the childcare business> otherwise I am sure the price would be higher. that's pretty cheap babysitting @ $2 per hour.
