If you are looking for high quality sporting goods equipment...look no further. REI is the cadillac of sporting goods. They have everything from biking to hiking, skiing to moutain climping. The gear they sell is the stuff professionals would use. This is not the place to get something low end you will only use once...so if you are serious about out door equipment, get it at REI
PROS: Best products in every category
CONS: very pricey

Neat, every things organized. For all Tacoma locals, this is a great place to purchase any sport accessory you or others need. They are not too over priced with their products. I would recommend it for purchasing any items for soccer, baseball, basketball and etc...Just any hands on sport. It's great.

I am a former REI employee, having worked at the HQ in Kent for a few years. This was when REI was just starting online and the new flagship in Seattle was opened (ok, so I'm old!). I really enjoyed working there and the perks that went with it. Can't beat the benefits of working for REI, at least then, don't know about now.
I'm so glad that they have a Tacoma store. This one has a great location, even though getting into the parking lot can be challenging. It's not as big as the Seattle store nor does it have the selection that they do. REI stores are purposely this way as part of the business design, so that they can gain more sales online and by moving product from store to store.
Friendly, incredibly knowledgeable staff as always (they have to be), superior product, and a great return policy if something goes wrong. The prices are a little high, but that's because you're also paying for the expertise of the staff and the quality of service and product. Sporting goods are notoriously made crappy, like baby products. But at REI, you KNOW that they only buy the best to sell to you. So buy with confidence, as you get what you pay for (and no, I have no affiliation with them anymore - that was years ago!).

You can find all sorts of information, products and clothes that has to do with snowboarding and skating at this store. I have gone here many times for Christmas gifts and have always come back very happy. The staff is friendly and knows what they are talking about...suggestions are abundant. Not sure about the times they are open but I believe that they are open Monday through Saturday. The prices aren't cheap but you pay for perfection.

I'm occasionally drawn into Big 5 by their Sunday newspaper ads; unfortunately, the store never seems to have the advertised special ("Sorry, we just sold the last one!") And when I do look around, they never have more than a rack or two of women's exercise garb -- always stuck at the back of the store. Yuck.
