This zoo and aquarium is the best of both worlds. It's not a huge zoo like Woodland Park or a big aquarium like the Seattle aquarium. You just get a taste of both. We're able to go as a family and not feel exhausted when we're done. Our favorite parts of the zoo are the underwater viewing areas. The aquarium has a neat place where you walk down hill and it looks like you went from the beach to underwater in the tropics. There's also a shark tank where the sharks are swimming right beside you through the glass. We also enjoy their wildlife show that they added last year. They have some zoo animals that are trained to do certain things on stage and "zoologist" teaches us about their habits and where they live. It's very fast paced and entertaining to kids.

I have been buying toys at this store for more than 10 years, but since the new owners have purchased it, the store has improved dramatically. They are enthusiastic about toys and it shows. The store is packed with every kind of toy and I have never failed to find what I need there. From Playmobil to Brio, to puzzles, beautiful blocks from Germany, art supplies, dolls from Europe and wonderful books, this store has high quality chidren's toys of heirloom quality and timeless appeal. The owners are helpful and extremely knowledgeable and never fail to help me select the perfect gift. The best toy store by far I have ever visited.

Other Mothers clothing is a really good consignment store. If you are looking for a bargain on children's clothes and baby equipment this is the place to go. Or you can drop of your used baby/children's clothes and make some extra cash.
Their stuff is in excellent condition and sometimes they have some really great sales. I have found some amazing deals there.

Kings Books, in the Stadium district, is a great used book store with some new releases as well. This book store has the customary catacombs of bookshelves you'd expect in a good used book store, as well as a comfortable cat or two. It usually displays local artwork in the front counter, and has information about upcoming events.

like this place, but I have not always been a fan of childcare places in general, so I don't really like sending my kids here any way. I would ralther stay home with them or something else rather that a child care place. But as far as these go, this place is alright.

More
Grant Center for the Expressive Arts is the only elementary school in Tacoma where the expressive arts are addressed on a daily basis.
Dance, drama, music and the visual arts are used as strategies for teaching the core curriculum. Reading strategies are taught in dance class. Students learn about fractions by writing music and geometry in art class.
The staff is energetic and supportive. Staff and parents team up to teach dozens of free before- and after-school enrichment classes including ballet, guitar, tap, yoga, hiking, gardening, running, chess, writing, and so much more.
I can't think of a better primary school for my child.

More
PLU is a good place to go to school. People tend to be friendly and laid back, and generally pretty inclusive. I think this may have something to do with the lack of a Greek system there. Anyway, lots of great professors are on staff, and you really get to experience a breadth of stuff with the liberal arts focus. PLU also tries to put a focus on living lives of service, which is a bonus to the community and the world. Sure, it's in a kind of ghetto part of town, but the campus itself is beautiful.

If you are looking for a good elementary school or if you are interested in finding out what parents think about Midland Elementary school, here you go. This is an absolutely wonderful school. The school is brand new, built and opened last year, 2003-04 school year. The teachers are just great and the office staff and principal are wonderful. Everyone who works there, looks happy to be there and that says a lot. The school works hard to give the kids a high level of education. My 2nd grader has already done a Power Point presentation!! The school is very active with activities and family events.
