The Blue Mouse Theater - The only one like it left! 3/4/2006

The Blue Mouse Theater is the only one of its kind left, certainly in the area, if not in the whole country. A small neighborhood theater dating back to the 1930's, with authentic original decor and a small stage where they used to give away free dishes on Dish Night. :-) Seeing a Fred Astaire movie in this theater is an experience unlike any other, for it gives the movie a genuine and authentic feel I have ONLY found at this special little theater! But they have mostly new movies these days.... although at a bargain price. Tuesdays are bargain day. They also have something special - wireless headsets for the hearing-impaired (you do have to ask at the ticket office for one). I feel very lucky to have such a special movie house so close by! more

Fun second run theater 8/17/2005

The Blue Mouse is the local discount theater, located in a really cool old building in Tacoma's Proctor District. They typically run movies that have been out for a month or two but aren't out on video yet. The sound is a bit tinny, but this theater makes up for that in pure charm. Cool old seats, odd little stage area up front (used for Rocky Horror on weekends), and some really neat light fixtures on the ceiling. Occasional projector meltdowns are part of the deal and just add to the fun. Definitely a Tacoma landmark and always the first theater to check the schedule of if you're feeling like going to a movie. more

Blue Mouse Theater 7/31/2005

Cheapest Theater that i know of, a small cozy type. The price of a movie is about half of what you would pay at a chain theater, and the movies are only about a week or two old. If you have the patience to wait a few weeks, you can save alot of money. Convieniently located in the Proctor district of Tacoma, and it also hosts the Rocky Horror Picture Show twice a month, which is an experience like no other. Live actors/actresses act out the movie. Highly recommended more
