Great food and service 9/25/2009

The food and service is great. The staff is very attentive and food is excellent. I went over the weekend and had the nachos for an appitizer and they wer very good. I have not had anything here I have not liked. more

Best homemade chile relleno! But go early for dinner... 7/8/2006

I don't know why ANYONE would not like Ponce's. We've always had great food and service (and prices) at Ponce's - our favorite restaurant for over a year now. I can't find a chile relleno anywhere else made like theirs - awesome homemade sauce and no seeds. The homemade flan is usually amazing as well. Great house margarita. My boyfriend loves their ground beef tacos - says it's something about the seasoning. They refill chips, salsa, and drinks for free (and are on top of it if they aren't slammed busy). Cool atmosphere, comfortable for kids, easy location. Only downside is that others know Ponce's is great, making for a long wait - so it's best to go at atypical eating times. more

I travel to San Diego once a year since 1980. I love mexican food! My friend Cindy took me to Ponce's for dinner my last night in town. It was the most wonderful mexican food I have had in ages. Try their chile verde......it is to die for! more

Ponce's = HORRIBLE FOOD AND EVEN WORSE SERVICE 5/1/2006

I live 6 blocks from Ponce's....what a shame the service and food are absolutely horrible... I received the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant in San Diego. The waitress blatantly paid a lot more attention to the Hispanic customers. The food took forever to come out, and was cold and had poor quality ingredients. My drink was not even re-filled once! The restaurant was not clean. Overall, a very bad experience. more

Fun environment and good food. 8/18/2005

We found Ponce's while scouring neighborhoods for apartments. The queue out front had us wondering what was going on. Finally one night we decided to brave the lines (40 minute wait!) and try it out ourselves. Were we glad we did, as this has become one of our favorites! Delicious, inexpensive and comfortable Mexican restaurant. The staff is always friendly, you get free chips and salsa and everything on the menu is reasonably priced. Not necessarily the most authentic Mexican food, but definitely delicious and tasty, and lots of crowd-pleaser dishes. The only downside is the sometimes long wait on the weekends. more

Excellent mexican food for the entire family!!! 8/16/2005

When I lived in Kensington, I went to Ponce's once or twice a week. They are newly remodeled from a small cramped space to a completely transformed beautiful restaurant with an outdoor patio seating. The food is absolutely delicious. There is a good size bar area and they serve excellent margaritas. The staff are very friendly and professional. You pretty much can get in and out. The parking can be hairy, although, there is a good sized parking lot, it can fill quickly. more
