Susanne Goin is one of the best chefs in LA and AOC is fantastic. I recommend sitting at the bar. The food is great, the servers and bartenders are helpful and friendly and they have a great wine selection. The bacon-wrapped dates are a must.

If you're looking for an amazing, cheap French Dip, Philippe's is the place. The originator of the French Dip (yes, you heard me right), Philippe's is perfect right before a Dodger game! But get there early, as the lines can get REALLY long before Dodger Games!
Pros: Great Food, cheap prices
Cons: Long lines before a Dodger game

I've been to the Little Door a handful of times over the past few years and every time is just as amazing as the first time. The food, service and wine are always perfect! I even order desert here, which I don't usually order elsewhere, because its so good. Everything here tastes different and better than I expect it to. For example I ordered a tuna plate which I expected to be spicy, but it was sweet - unexpected but soooo delicious. It's a great date spot or great place to take out of town guests, the mood ambience and patio are sensational.
Pros: food, ambience,wine list
Cons: crowded

Recently moved to the block. La Poubelle has the best drink prices and best food that I've found in the hood. Really good Happy Hour that includes appetizers... and I just discovered that they have $6 martinis on Mondays now! I'm in.

I was dubious because of the bad reviews, but I had a great first experience. I don't give 5 stars easily. We had made a reservation for Sunday brunch. There was no wait. Had a wonderful blueberry mimosa (my first) and breakfast. The waiter was fun and friendly and provided great service. Warm bread, butter, jams and spreads were on the table instantly, coffee etc.. the food fantastic. I suppose the price was steep, but so are other places. Frau Bruja wasn't in attendance. If she was I'd ask her to correct the spelling errors on her website.. Especially misspelling "Dusty's" . All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant. Go there. It's warm, cozy and the food is great.
Pros: Great service, warm and inviting atmosphere
Cons: Valet Parking $4.50? There really weren't any cons!

They treated our children with respect (even though they were the only children there,) the food was wonderful and everyone there was having a lot of fun. Very comfortable atmosphere. Our waiter, Parker, was alway attentive, friendly, and service oriented. He made great suggestions on menu items. We had a wonderful time.

The food is amazing. Every dish I've ever had was either very good or simply mouth watering, especially the filet mignon (about $22). I've had steaks for three times the price that are not as good as the filet. The deserts are simply scrumptous, especially the fruit tarts (about $6). I would come here if the prices were twice what they are.
The atmosphere is simple and unprententious. You feel like you've escaped to some small out of the way Parisian cafe. The service is "slow": if you want to eat and run, you'll feel stressed. In Europe (and Cafe B.) the idea is to relax, enjoy a course, and then have a few minutes to chat before the next course arrives. My wife and I typically spend 1 1/2 to 2 hours for a dinner there, which is perfect for us.
Cafe B. is my favorite restaurant. I have been there maybe 15 times since discovering it a couple of years ago. I would be happy to come every week. It has become a favorite for anyone we've ever brought with us. I always look forward to going there and I am always quite content by the end of my visit.
In short: I come for the amazing food, but the ambience and the interactions with the waiters add to the enjoyment of the experience. Just don't come if you're in a hurry.
