The goal is to give you a tranquil, peaceful experience; and they do a great job at this. The units have killer views, especially of sunset. They also have a traditional Japanese spa. Their two restaurants, specializing in Japanese cuisine, also have five star reputations.

This conveniently located property in Kihei is oceanfront but not beachfront. But nice beaches for swimming, snorkeling and strolling truly are just minutes away from this nicely landscaped property. These nicely furnished two and three bedroom units go for $175 to $225 a night, depending on the season, and include maid service.

If you've got kids that will enjoy an ultra fun swimming pool, then you need to visit the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in Wailea on Maui. The swimming pool is one of the most spectacular ones that we've been to. Not only does it have two water slides and a river connecting the different pools, but it also has a "water elevator" and a "rapids" that you sit in and slide down. Don't worry, the bottom of the "rapids" is cushioned, so you won't get hurt. When we go there, my kids much rather spend the entire day in the pool, rather than visit and tour the island of Maui. Ask for Kamaaina rates during slow tourist seasons.
The hotel is also a very grand hotel, complete with granite bathroom counters, and separate showers and tubs.

There are only three main supermarkets in Kihei: Safeway, Foodland, and Star. Typically, Star Markets has the best produce in town and the best fresh fish, too. Another plus is that this market NEVER is as crowded as Safeway or Foodland. You can find parking easily, and you will not be crowded in the store. They have a sale ad that comes out every Wednesday.
