My new husband and I stayed at the Four Seasons on Maui for three nights at the beginning of our honeymoon, earlier this month. We decided it was going to be our splurge and it was well worth it! From the minute we drove onto the property, we were impressed. The grounds were beyond lush, impressive given the hotel is in a desert area. From the valets to the front desk staff to the bellman who accompanied us to our suite (a free upgrade!!!) and briefed us on the hotel layout, everything was outstanding. The pool area is stunning. Just as you feel a bit hot from the scorching sun, a pool attendant comes around to spritz you with Evian, offer a cold towel or a glass of water. We tried all three restaurants in the hotel, as well, and received outstanding service and food. The only glitch during our stay was the daytime construction going on at the Italian restaurant, which provided a slight distraction as we sat by the pool.

This resort probably is best known for its pools and water attractions. Because of that expect to see a lot of families here; and because of that expect the pool area to be crowded and noisey. The rooms are nice, but nothing to write home about. The maintenance of the hotel and the property is not as good as it should be.
Most guests say the same thing: don't plan to eat here. The food is not that good, and it is EXPENSIVE.

They make a mean Pina Colada here. Tasty drinks and really cool bartenders. I usually go to the beach for a couple hours which happens to be about 20 footsteps away, swim and work up an appetite and then go to the bar for the happy hour sushi and drinks.
All of the sushi on the happy hour menu is half off so I try to get as much as I can. They have a an amazing dinner menu and a really nice romantic dining area outside.

I love the Spider Roll and the Dragon Roll. I always sit at the bar when I come here and it's good fast service.
They make great drinks and the sushi is so fresh with great flavor. The bartenders are always really friendly and keep you full and happy.
There is plenty of parking for all. It's a darker more intimate setting inside and plan on spending a little more here, but it's all worth it.
Cons: A little on the spendy side

When my husband and I were in Maui for our honeymoon we visit Lulu's several times. After hanging out at the beach we would go there to have some mai tais. It's right across the street from the beach so it's easy access. I would recommend Lulu's for anyone visiting Hawaii.

We went to Pupu Lounge for lunch on a Monday afternoon. It was a little warm, so they offered us a table closer to the air conditioner (towards the back of the restaurant). They weren't very busy, but most patio tables were filled. Our party was quite hungry, and the special was a fish and chips entree w/fries and coleslaw. I think almost everyone chose that. Our server had said it made with a local fish that was buttery on flavor (can't remember the name of the fish). He also mentioned the coleslaw was very good. When our food came, we were pleased to see an ample portion of food on each plate. The food looked very appetizing, not greasy, and smelled fabulous. Honestly, I think it's the best fish and chips I've ever had, and I wasn't alone in that assessment. It was cooked to a golden brown, crisp and light, and the fish was very fresh (from that morning), tender and flaky. The coleslaw was crunchy, and had the most wonderful, light and tangy-sweet dressing. There were also several of our number that commented the mai tais were pretty good as well (I didn't have one, so can't say personally).
Our server, Justin, was very nice and helpful. Granted, we were already in a good mood and hungry from a morning of kayaking and snorkeling. He was talkative, but not pushy or hovering. He let us enjoy our meal and kept an eye on us from the other side of the bar area.
If you're looking for a casual, fun place to get food, or hang out with some drinks and appetizers, this might be the ticket for you.
Pros: Nice, casual atmosphere, good food
Cons: None when we were there

We've stayed at the Maui Prince Hotel twice and couldn't be more happy with it! It is the BEST value in the exclusive Wailea area of Maui. It's a little further down the road, but well worth the extra 2 minute drive. The hotel isn't as fancy as some of its Wailea counterparts (think Grand Wailea or Kea Lani), but it has true Hawaiian flair. It's not as crowded as other hotels and the staff will remember you. The pool is small, but you can get a seat without trouble. The grounds are beautiful and great for walks. The beach at the hotel is quiet and private. The rooms are spacious, all have ocean views and private lanais (so your neighbors can't see you and vice versa). Overall, I highly recommend the Maui Prince. I seriously considered other hotels on our second trip to Maui because I wanted something "different." I'm SO glad I decided to stay at the Maui Prince again. If you're looking for celebrity watching and a fun nightlife, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want a relaxing Hawaiian vacation, stay HERE!

I love all the Roy's restaurants! We've been to quite a few in different states across the U.S. The food is always excellent (they must hire the best chefs) and the service is outstanding. We were disappointed to learn that this particular restaurant in Kihei will be closed due to hard economic times. I felt bad for the employees there.
However, I must say the outside of this particular Roy's looked more like a bank or a Safeway. The inside was set up like a Country Buffet restaurant. So the atmosphere is nothing like the other Roy restaurants in Oahu, Arizona, etc. I think that lack of elegance contributed to their demise.
Pros: Food, Service
Cons: Atmosphere

Alexander's Fish and Chips serves the best fish and chips I've ever tasted in my life. This locally owned and operated restaurant also offers calamari, shrimp, and chicken and chips. They use premium quality, local-caught fish for the fish and chips. You can choose what kind of fish you want, like ono, ahi, mahi mahi, or aku. All the seafood served tastes very fresh, and the soups and salads are surprisingly good. I found that the food quality at Alexander's well exceeds how much you pay.
