Pete Knows How to Do It Right 6/29/2006

I discovered Pete Miller's Steakhouse when a friend of mine kept talking about a great place to hear music in Evanston. What? Little did I know about this gem of a restaurant. You can expect to pay steakhouse prices, but the food is very good, the bar is fun just for a drink, and best of all, yes, they have live music Thursday through Sunday. I really like this place; it's close to downtown Evanston, which means that with good food and a great bar area, the place can really get packed. If you're going to enjoy the optimal dining experience, I'm not sure I would go on a Saturday night; I'd try Thursday instead. Happy hour tends to be crowded, too. Overall, I think this is a very good restaurant with great jazz on the side. more

Classic steaks and great burgers 1/17/2006

You've got to love a place that serves up quality meat, has regular live music and allows cigar smoking in the bar. They have the best burgers (try it with bacon) and steaks here. I also really like their coconut shrimp appetizer, which is super tasty. The only downside is inevitably the price, but you get what you pay for. When my friend and I most recently ate here we had a slow waiter who deserted us when we neeeded refills and service. We also had to wait for a table for a bit because the place was so crowded. more

Great 1/16/2006

If you like a good steak, Pete Miller's is the place to go. The food is simply amazing. It's a fairly classy restaurant, and the waiters are very respectful. Of course, what comes with all of that is the price. It's not cheap, but treat yourself and check it out. more
