Ballard Designs

Sadly, I am another customer who found out too late that there is no customer service or company accountability on the part of Ballard. When I tried to give an honest review of a product I received on their website, they told me they would not post it as it spoke to shipping issues and they apparently don't count or they won't deal with this failing in their organization. I ordered a product early this winter and learned within a week or so that it was backordered and would not ship until May. In April, they pushed that out to mid June alerting me with an email; yet the very next day I got snother email from Ballard stating the item just shipped and I would be contacted to arrange a delivery date from their contract shipper. When I called customer service at Ballard to let them know that a fsmily emergency took me out of town and I would not be able to be home for any delivery, I was first told, don't worry, it will take weeks for the delivery still. Yet the next day I was contacted by the shipper telling me that I needed to set the delivery date and if I did not, they would return the item to Ballard. Further calls to Ballard were fruitless and frustrating- I finally got bumped to a customer relations person who just arranged a delivery date in June with the hope I would be home to accept it. Well, the item was delivered this past Friday. The delivery company never called to confirm the delivery so when it became 1 hour from the end of the 4 hour window snd they still were not there, I tried to get in touch with both Ballard's rep and the delivery company. They confirmed it was going to be delivered; the delivery team then called and said they would be at least an hour beyond the window they promised. And that white glove service? For the $100 plus extra charged, the delivery is to your front door only. Really? Even the delivery team was embarrassed and did bring the Huge box over the threshold. If you purchase something from Ballard and need to return the item, be prepared to pay outrageous shipping costs. A little known fact - Ballard ships items to you based on a "weight only" cost. UPS ground charges a "dimensional weight" cost. I purchased a large print (36x36). The cost to Ballard to ship it to me was $15.88, although they charged me $27.00. The cost to return the item was $128.79! I am out more than $155.00 and have nothing to show for it. I followed the instructions on the packing slip sent to me. There was nothing on the packing slip about the differences in the "weight" costs or in the return policy on the website alerting buyers to the substantially high return shipping costs. I won't be purchasing anything from Ballard again. more

I bought a sectional couch and upholstery in velvet. The couch is extremely uncomfortable. The pillows were not down as mentioned in the description. The upholstery was done very poorly. None of the seams lined up. The worst part of this purchase was Ballard Designs customer service. It is terrible. I would never buy from this company again. I advise you NOT to purchase from them. more

Ballard Designs is the worst retailer I've ever dealt with. I purchased two sets of wicker dining room chairs with covers. After one and a half years my wife decided to wash the cushions that were lightly soiled. The seams came completely apart. Since it was past their one year store warranty they would only give a $40 gift card towards replacement cushions. Only problem is that they don't sell the same cushions and they are so unique they would have to be custom made. They would not even give us any information on the manufacturer. Since I purchased them with my Visa card I filed a claim with Visa only to find out that Ballard Designs refused to provide Visa any information on the manufacturer quoting that it was confidential and all they could find out is that they were manufactured in India. Since they do not have a USA backed manufacturer warranty Visa denied the claim. What is Ballard Designs hiding. more

Do not get yourself carried over by looking at their website. Everything that glitters is not gold and same apply to Ballard Designs. They wont cancel my order which they delayed. They do not have any supply or stock management systems running. Please stay away from them. more

Will never purchase from Ballard's again. I ordered an $800.00 bed swing from them in May. After having paid a carpenter to install braces to install it, one of the four hooks on the swing gave way. Hook would not come out or stay in. The swing was no longer offered after having been in the catalogue for less than two months. I asked if this was because of a faulty part. Woman I spoke with said sales weren't as expected so they would offer swing again next spring. Go figure. Representative said they would pick up and give full refund. Have had to call four times. Much confusion on their part. The last time rep connected me with shipping company who said it would be picked up the following Monday and they would call with a window. No call. Staff seems incompetent, unprofessional and dishonest. I have waited over a month for them to pick up the defective swing and will then have to wait another several weeks to be credited. Never again. more

Still waiting after over 3 months for a simple outdoor rug. Numerous calls to this company , few return calls same promise.Oh , it will be shippoed .Just today 6/13/13 received anothe update .Now the rug will ship in July. 4 mths , we finally cancelled and hopefully we get our money back. more

Waited five months for a set of dishes. Multiple orders and confusion. When I refused shipment at my door for UPS (because at that point who knew what was in the box) , I was charged for shipping!!! ANd it was a lot. The folks at "customer service" told me they were generous to offer me free shipping. Whoopee. Wish I owned a racket like that. I would never buy from Ballard. I also ordered a desk years ago and one drawer never worked ( so I guess I should have known better). more

Ballard Designs will not grant refunds. They will claim that the order is a non-refundable "custom order" even though the order itself says nothing about refunds. If the order contains even one item that they claim is "custom," they will not grant refunds on non-custom items included in the order. more

As with all of my Ballard Design purchases, I am extremely pleased! This basket is perfect for my three children's shoes, books and toys. I put stuff in the basket and the kids take it up stairs.. perfect! more

Ballard rugs are sturdy, and is easy to keep clean, with the added benefit of being beautiful. I would definately recommend the rug i bought to friends and family.... more

I love the runner I bought from them. I've really had no problems. It looks perfect in my house and is exactly what I wanted!! I really would like to purchase the 9x12 rug, but it's a little too much for my budget right now. Next time there's a sale or discount, I'll be getting it. Thanks to them for great service!! more

The carpet i bought from Ballards is gorgeous! I would recommend it to the Queen of England, or any celeb. I only wish I could get it in other sizes as well. Thanks to then for beautifying my home with their merchandise. more

I've ordered an area rug from Ballards. It's really nice rug. The colors are beautiful and the quality is very good. We have had it for several months, now, and it is wearing beautifully and it gets a lot of foot traffic. Really happy we ordered it. more

The rug is perfect. It looks exactly like the picture. It's heavy and durable. I have a dog and a cat, and always get stains. This rug has been washed several times, since I purchased it, and every spot comes out. I love it. more
