Best

My favorite Thai-style restaurant in the area. Very good food.

Worst

I was one of the number one customers here. The food is good for the price, and I always try to support vegan restaurants. I brought my whole family over many times, since it's go...

After reading the reviews, I think I will try it again! 12/17/2006

My boyfriend and I just moved to this Palms area in August. We've been talking about trying the Vegan Joint for months but have not gotten around to it. After having a night to myself, I decided to try the place out. I walked in and approached the counter. My first reaction was that he wasn't very welcoming and was too busy at the counter to actually greet me or take my order. I felt a little uncomfortable like I was bugging him by standing there and I actually considered leaving and trying the Mexican restaurant 2 doors down instead. I decided to ignore it and I ordered anyway. Aside from the not so friendly service I received, I took my food home and ate it. I wish I could say it was amazing, but in all honesty, it was okay.. it wasn't bad. I had the garlic and cilantro soy chicken entree with a side of veggies, brown rice and an order of potatoes. I was a little disappointed with the food because it tasted a little bland. The veggies didn't taste fresh, they tasted and looked like ""frozen out-of-the-bag-veggies,"" and the potatoes were pretty bland. They could have definitely used a lot more seasoning. All in all it was a mediocre affordable healthy meal. Perhaps I didn't have the ""right"" dish or perhaps I just had high expectations from when I lived in Northern California and had awesome vegan meals everyday at a local vegan restaurant. Aside from the not-so-welcoming service I received and the frozen veggies, I think I'll try this place out again because it's vegan, affordable and close by. Maybe I'l have a better experience next time worthy of posting again! more

Stay Away! 11/13/2006

I don't want to share! I'm not a vegan - heck, I'm not even a vegetarian, and I think I could eat three meals a day here for a the rest of my life! My meat-and-potatoes husband had the red curry w/ soy chicken, I have the fish wrap... who needs meat with food like this? The curry was perfect... hot and tasty. The fish wrap had wonderful, fresh veggies all stuffed into it. The service was attentive, the food delicious, and the price is CHEAP! I can't wait to go back and try everything they have to offer! Pros: Yummy yummy yummy! more

Exceptional taste and fabulous deal 8/9/2006

This place far surpasses any Thai or vegetarian restaurant for miles. Unique combination of noodles, rice, veggies with a choice of tofu, vegan beef, chicken or fish......good meal sizes and very cozy. Sit inside or out...very very neighborly. Good prices and great service...basically a real gem in this part of town. Pros: unique tastes and great prices Cons: only 6 tables inside and 3 outside...tiny but worth the wait..not usually long either!! more

Best vegan joint anywhere 7/19/2006

I'm not even a vegan, and I love eating here. Their food is awesome. They deliver, and the staff is always very friendly. This isn't just the best vegetarian restaurant anywhere, it's one of my favorite restaurants, period. You've gotta try their fries, the chik'n wrap, veggie wrap, and their cole slaw. Also, they have a great yellow curry. more

Great vegan place!! 7/4/2006

I went with a friend a couple Friday nights ago and we both thought it was awesome. I had a BLT and he had some kind of fish burrito, the food was really good!! The portions were good compared to the price. And our bill -- for 2 entrees, 1 side, and 1 drink, was only $16. I can't wait to go back and try their chicken and waffles breakfast, a cruelty-free alternative to Roscoe's across town :) I agree with healthynut who posted before me, the server etiquette is a little off -- my entree was brought out almost 10 minutes before my date's -- but everyone who worked there was really warm. Definitely try this place! Pros: Quick service, delicious food, inexpensive Cons: Small venue, inexperienced servers more

Delicious, Cheap, and Crave-inducing 6/5/2006

This place is a little gem! The menu offers everything from breakfast burritos to pad thai, and is extensive enough that whenever I've gone, I've had a very difficult time choosing. So far, everything we've ordered has been delicious, particularly the Cowboy Burger and the Spicy Basil Noodles. Meals range from $5 to $10 and portions are generous. The restaurant is small, casual, and unpretentious. There are a couple of small outdoor tables, and they even have Scrabble and a couple of other games available to play while you eat. There are a lot of choices that will please meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Pros: Delicious, Cheap, Great menu choices Cons: Parking can be tough more

Vegan Joint A Great Neighborhood Secret! 5/29/2006

I live in the ""hood"" of Palms and noticed this place just recently. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I wholeheartedly confer that the prices, portion sizes and taste is great. All 3 meals ordered by myself and friends were excellent. The service was prompt...tables are only 6 or so and the parking is a bear..but worth it! Also, I thought it was odd that they served us the desert of soy cheesecake in a to-go dish without plates..so I had to make the server aware of proper etiquette... But, overall...a great find and one I will return to. Give it a try..highly unlikely you will be disappointed. Mainly a chinese/thai flair with some salads and traditional breakfast items...no coffee...you can bring your own wine if you come for dinner. Soy chicken, fish and steak. Pros: Portion Sizes, Tasty spices, Excellent Prices more

Loved the fresh spring rolls 5/13/2006

I was fortuante to be able to return to the Vegan Joint. First time I have had fresh spring rolls. Great! I also had a noodle dish that I can not remember the name of.......It was chicken and noodles....so yummy. Finished off with cheesecake and that was good too. The wait staff is so friendly. Pros: friendly service and just good food Cons: none that bothered me more

I am a carnivore.. however..... 5/7/2006

""The Vegan Joint"" went in skeptical and I left amazed! The food there, not only healthy, low fat, quick service... but unbelievably delicious foods ranging from Thai food to great veggie burgers, soups and delicious dinners! The food is filling and you dont feel heavy after you leave! They serve breakfast all day. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE!!!!! A million thumbs up!!!!! Oh and did I mention affordable!!!!!! Pros: Great Food, Healthy, Affordable Cons: seating more

Why can't we get more places like this? 5/7/2006

Great place to eat. If I lived closer I would eat here all the time. They even deliver which is unheard of for a Vegan place and a godsend for local Vegans. And from what I could gather, it looked like I was surrounded by return customers, which was easy to understand once you tasted the simple, yet delicious vegan dishes. I had the chow mein with seitan. The portions are big, the prices reasonable, and most important - the food is healthy, clean and tastes good. The seitan was great, I like the spices they use. If you are already health conscious or just learning to crossover into a cleaner diet, this is a good place to get started, since they have vegan substitutes for cheese, chicken, eggs, meat and fish. ENJOY!! Pros: Inexpensive, Tastes Good, Healthy more

Cheap, good atmosphere, & excellent food. 4/27/2006

This place is great. It's over on National Blvd. by Overland. The area is kind of a hidden artsy kind of a place w/ lots of food places, antiquie shops, Italian ice cream shop, & a massage school. But if your a Vegan, you will dig The Vegan Joint. Just opened up. Always busy but, not over crowded. Food is good especially if you like thai food or asian food and the cook is quick. The service is fast!!!! I luv those spices!!!! A big menu & great prices. Close to home. Pros: Cheap, Clean, Good Atmoshere Cons: Fair Parking, Small, New more
