Horrific Attitude 6/30/2009

Rarely do I leave a store of any kind feeling angry at the people who work there, but this Eagle Rock Trader Joe's takes the cake. First off, I asked some 4-eyed skater-looking tool if he could help me find a chardonnay. That didn't go over so well, as he basically walked away from me and muttered ""hold on a sec"". Worthless. So I move on to the free food samples and ask another young man if I could have a cup of coffee, which to him seemed to translate to ""can I slaughter your first born child"", given his response which was to not even look at me while he poured me half-a-shot of coffee. I know I don't speak Spanish or look Latino, ""homes"", but that's no reason to treat a (white) customer like dirt. The female employees there are no better; they look like they'd rather be watching their convict boyfriends do crimes than actually work for a living. Bravo. This store is filled with trash. Pros: Typical Trader Joe's Selection Cons: Rudest staff imaginable more

Neighborhood Specialty Shop 6/11/2004

TJ's has become a California staple store for the ""health"" crowd, but they're more than that. Yes, they offer tofu in a variety of styles, and soy milk in different flavors. But, they also have low carbohydrate breads and fresh seafood. High quality frozen items in small quantities (not 15lb bags like at those warehouse stores). The employees are always friendly and know their stock well. You can ask anyone for assistance (even a ""new"" guy) and they're willing to help at any time. Recently this location changed their layout and it's now easier to get around in the store without worrying about knocking over displays or crashing into other shoppers. Pros: high quality items, friendly people Cons: small parking lot more
