This location is fighting tooth and nail with the Hyperion/silver lake Tj's for worst parking situation in the city more

Obnoxious Ghetto Staff, Talk too much at check out 4/6/2011

Place has a good selection. Tight Parking. My problem is with the staff, as this is my local Trader Joe's that I always go to since I live close by. First off, at check-out w/ LONG lines they will initiate long conversations with customers. Many times the guys will be nice and down to earth . . . to a female customer, asking her if she needs help. Then, I (just a normal dude) walk by, and it's a cold shoulder, they look down, away, or just make a face. Many times I have gone to take a food sample, the female behind the counter never acknowledges me, looks down, then to an older person will look up and smile, ""Ya wanna try?"" Happens w/ both guy or girl behind. Really? Is it ME?? What is the deal with hiring minorities with ghetto attitudes, in this case it's the Hispanics at this location?? Affirmative action is great, but why hire people who flip attitudes all the time, or selectively? and why are these Hispanics coming over from their ghetto parts of LA to give people who live in this area attitudes? I've never had a problem w/ an African-American at this location. The whites are okay, some have a flippy hipster attitude and also are selectively nice to females or the elderly. more

Great for the adventurous 4/26/2009

The thing that I love about Trader Joe's is that you walk into a sea of brands that you don't see anywhere else, and it is heaven to any of you who are tired of the same ol, same ol. Sure, you sometimes get some nasty surprises, but hey, sometime it's nice when life is a bit unpredictable. More often than not, you can count on Trader Joe's offering to be really fresh, and made of good stuff. The staff who work there tend to be really helpful, and look like they are proud to be associated with TJs. Pros: Best alternative selections Cons: They have too many choices, and I, too little money more

Best Market 1/23/2009

My choice of market. They always have fresh produce and great selection of healthy foods that are quick and easy to make. Plus I usually end up getting more groceries than a regular market! more

Horrible location/parking, good otherwise. Trader Joe's needs to build another one. 6/15/2008

Being the only Trader Joe's in West LA, east of W. Hollywood - is a major problem. I like the selection and amount of food (usually available, minus fruits and salads sometimes), however it's always crowded and parking is a major problem during the daytime. The traffic congestion from LaBrea doesn't help either. Parking is better when they open the additional lot, but everyone fights for the spots - which is ridiculous. Trader Joe's needs to seriously build another one in the Hollywood/east of Vine or in Los Feliz. Pros: Generally good selection, attentive staff Cons: Bad location, bad parking, need 2nd location in West LA more

Trader Joes in Chatsworth has no QUALITY CONTROL!!!!! 10/4/2007

Trader Joes in Chatsworth, CA has had a rodent infestation problem. We bought and ate a bag of Kettles ""Bakes"" lightly salted potato chips last week, and after eating the entire bag noticed ""gnaw"" marks and holes at the bottom. In disgust I called the store manager, who immediately confirmed that they indeed had a rodent problem with their bagged chips, but he ""thought"" they removed them all from shelves. This is mortifying and unacceptable neglegence, and I want to make the public aware!! Check your bags thoroughly, because trader joes is not!! Public health should be #1 in importance, but clearly it is not. Cons: dirty more

A little afraid... 9/22/2007

Over the past year I have not had any complaints about Trader Joe's. However, last week I bought TJ's Eggwhite Salad and opened the container to find a small wrinkled part of a blue plastic bag inside. Then I opened the Eggplant Hummus to find a small black threadlike hair enclosed. These were purchased the same day! I still like TJ's but I won't be ingesting any of their dips/salads, etc...Seems like a quality control issue. more

Trader Joe's Rock! 12/14/2006

The food is high quality and fresh? prices good?. and employees are cool! And always willing to lend a helping hand!!!! Pros: Awesome Juices and Quality Foods Cons: Parking and No Driving LA Drivers Who Jam the Parking Lot! :( more

Love This Market! 12/12/2006

I am a huge Trader Joe's fan - you can always fine awesome wines, snacks, cheese, gifts, etc. at really great prices. Some of my favorite items - mushroom turnovers; chocolate ganache cake; double rainbow ice cream; parmesan cheese with built-in grinder; fresh basil; various veggie dips; turkey sausages; honey moon wine; etc.etc. For anyone who is lactose intolerant, Trader Joe's has a dietary supplement (the equivalent to lactaid) that is much more effective and definitely cheaper. The only annoying thing is the parking and the long lines! Pros: Great alcohol, foods at great prices; Helpful service Cons: Parking and long lines more

Best Neighborhood Market 11/17/2006

A great change of pace to super markets. Great place to go if you're planning on eating healthy. Love the Layout. Great customer service. Almost always packed. Pros: Great Service, Friendly atmosphere, Healthy Place Cons: Sometimes too packed, Closes at 9 PM more

love the free samples. lol! 11/6/2006

free samples rock! but seriously, it is the best market around, anything you need and prices superb! cant go wrong. Pros: great product, service and prices! more

Fantastico! 3/10/2005

This place rocks. You can find high-quality groceries at great prices. My only gripe is that they usually don't carry imported prosciutto at this location. Pros: great selection, great chocolate, parmiagiano more

Sweet Staff, Cramped and Crowded 7/16/2002

I go to this location often because its on my way home from work, but the early evening hours are always horribly crowded. The weekends are worse. The layout of this store is atrocious. Theres no way to avoid being cramped and waiting in a long line. However, that said, the staff is sweet as pie and super helpful. All the usual TJ goods are stocked and theres always some sort of sample table doling out tasty bits. The store has a good variety of cheeses, much cheaper than youll find at any other market. Despite the long wait and crowds, I continue to patron this location. Pros: Staff, Variety, Prices Cons: Store Layout, Crowded more

SPECIALITY ITEMS 7/3/2002

THE PRODUCES, MEATS AND MILK HAVE NO ADDED FILLERS. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I SHOOP HERE. THE WHOLE STORE SEENS TO BE HEALTHIER. I LOVE THE LARGE SELECTION OF WINES AND CHEESE. more

Too Crowded Too Often 5/20/2002

The place is popular. And for good reason--you can't beat the selection of gourmet food items and top-notch wines at relatively rock-bottom prices. But this location, at Third and La Brea, is so routinely crowded, it's hardly worth the effort. The parking lot is a mess, and the lines are long. If you live in the neighborhood, walk and carry. If you're thinking about stopping by on your way home from work, think again--or at least plan to spend a good 15 minutes in line. Pros: Food selection, Wine selection, Good prices Cons: Limited parking, Long lines, Subpar produce more

Favorite Store--Least Favorite Location 5/20/2002

I love Trader Joes. This location however, is definitely sub-par. Yes, they stock almost all of the same items--but the layout is so cramped and it's so crowded that you can hardly move around the aisles. The shelves are so picked over and rummaged through, that it's often difficult to find anything you're looking for--even when you can get your cart into the aisle. I'll still be shopping Trader Joe's--I'll just be driving to Santa Monica to do it. Pros: Frozen food selection, Great pre-made dip Cons: Too crowded, Unorganized, Bad parking more
