Best Brunch on the Eastside 12/7/2010

I had been to the Big Fish Grill several times for happy hour, but last weekend I had the opportunity to go for brunch. Oh Em Gee it was FABULOUS! The hazelnut french toast was beyond good- better than most desserts and when paired with a fresh mimosa- there's nothing better! more

Best Tuna Ahi 11/11/2010

They use the best grade tuna for the Spice Tuna Ahi dish. What a treat. more

Great Seafood and Happy Hour 10/26/2010

This Seafood Restaurant is definitely being added to my Kirkland Restaurant repetoire. The big seafood selection made it tough to choose. But once I settled on the salmon, I was not disappointed. And I washed it down with my Happy Hour Mojito. And the service was impeccable. Bonus! more

Seafood Heavan 10/26/2010

In the Pac NW we tend to be a little spoiled when it comes to seafood...and so it could be argued restaurants have it a little easier here than say somewhere in N Dakota. All that said it is really wonderful to find a restaurant that not only exploits the fresh abundant seafood available but also finds ways to exceed my expectations. Love it! more

Very Good Salmon 9/28/2010

Good salmon dinner. Not dry like some restaurants make fish. Good service too. Not pushy and not constantly standing by my table. Good bar selection too. One thing I like about this restaurant is the easy access to 520. Good place to meet. more

Happy I found this spot 9/10/2010

I found this excellent restaurant when I had to get out of traffic in Kirkland. It was the first time I have been happy for a traffic jam! I had the Salmon and my kids had the fish and chips (great kids menu) - we live in Bellevue so we will be back! more

Very Good Fish n Chips 8/23/2010

Stopped by and had the fish n chips with a few beers in the bar. Good stuff! Very crisp on the fish and that's the way I like it. Nice selection of microbrews. It's also a good location since it's just off 520 on the Kirkland -Bellevue border. more

New restaurant! Great Happy Hour! 8/19/2010

I like to stop at the Big Fish after work for happy hour. Full bar with microbrews and good seafood. Service was good, fast, and friendly! I haven't had dinner there yet so I can't comment. It is a good place to meet my friends that live in Seattle and Kirkland or Bellevue since it is close to the bridge. more

Don't bother 6/9/2009

Our bill came to $45 (before tax). We ordered two pasta dishes and an oyster app. A little more expensive than I anticipated but it would've been fair if the food tasted good. I ordered Garlic Prawn Linguini which is pasta, prawns, tomato, olive, caper, cheese. I don't know what they did besides over cook it and douse it in too much cheese. It was seriously awful. After just a few bites I told my server that I didn't like it but rather than waste it I would take it home. He brought me a box and suggested adding garlic salt. My husband ordered Crab Ziti which is similar to a macaroni and cheese with crab and small shrimps. It was a little better than my dish but not by much as it was very over cooked and mushy. I will never go back to this establishment again considering there are so many great restaurants in Bellevue. Pros: Easy to find Cons: The flavor, the service, the parking more

Sadly Going Down Hill 5/23/2008

My family and I have loved the Newport for many years. But last night was a disaster. The fish & chips (cod) was horrible. They have really cheapened their best dish. Instead of their former steak fries they have gone to skinny limp fries. Instead of the hand breaded portions of fish they have gone to pre packaged frozen fish. I hope some day I can go back to this formerly wonderful place. But for now I'll get my Fish & chips at Red Robin or Spud. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food more

lousey fish and chips 12/14/2007

Our Family's Favorite Restaurant 10/19/2004

I just read the other review for this restaurant and had a hard time imagining that this person had eaten at the same restaurant I have visited so many times. The restaurant is decorated in a restful white and blue and has no resemblance to any fast food restaurant I have ever eaten at. Some of the pictures on the walls are of former times, intentionally. They are wonderful reminders of the beautiful area we live in. The dining area is spotless. The service has been of the highest professional order and the food (it IS a seafood restaurant, primarily!) has always been wonderful. I have never had overcooked vegetables there. In fact, one reason we eat there so often is the quality of the food. The pricing is moderate for a seafood restaurant. I highly recommend the Newport Bay Restaurant; it's continued popularity is deserved more

Tasteless 8/3/2003

We were looking for a decent price seafood restaurant, and we noticed a always somewhat busy place on Northup way that prompted out interest. We are from Europe and still not used to what they call restaurants here, but the ambiance has the resemblance of fast food restaurant (booths along the sides, a few tables in the middle) with service. The wall is covered by marine-theme pictures; obvously faded and seem to from the late 70's early 80's. We started with a steamer clams dish that was decent. For entrees I had the Tombo Tuna and my wife had the a sword fish dish. The fish was completely tasteless! The vegetables that were served were also somewhat overcooked and tasteless. The sauces that were served with the fish did not help. Furthermore the size of the fish served was hardly reasonable. We decided not to visit this restaurant again. Pros: Friendly staff, Enough parking Cons: Tasteless food, Outdated ambiance, Feels cheap/is not more
