Yuck! STAY AWAY. Greasy food, stale and cooked three or four days ago. Bathrooms stink. Manager is rude and un-attentive. I went into the bathroom and saw that the waiter did not wash his hands before leaving, so I am not sure how they pass the basic hygiene standards. In the adjoining room, there was an event going on of some kind. Loud noise, disturbing to the other diners eating quietly outside. I noticed people were self-serving alcohol of the ""hard"" kind..not sure if they have a license to do so either ?, but I guess they try to get away with it one way or the other just like they do with their sub-standard hygiene standards. I wouldn't be surprised if they get close down someday. Very poor value for money. more

Avoid for all the right reasons. Yes, it's in a claustrophobic basement with steep stairway. The food is mediocre, the price is high, the service is slow. Wish I had my money back. Still recovering from the whole ""dining"" experience. more

Best Indian resturant I have ever been too. 10/9/2011

Triangle's Worst indian restaurant 5/2/2011

I have tried every Indian restaurant in the restaurant by far this one is the worst. \r Food is really bad. Tried lunch and dinner both... but to no avail. Dinner Buffet had frozen mixed vegetable(Carrots, beans and peas) as the only vegeterian entree.\r Service was even worse. The Manager/owner? was very rude and did not care much. \r Never Ever going back there again!! more

Never again 1/27/2011

Made a booking for a hall with them, but did not honor the booking. Gave it to someone else for more money and did not even bother to let me know. Terrible attitude. more

Bad Attitude! 4/19/2010

I really wish the male waiters here get some training in customer service. They have people with very bad attitude. I really couldn't tolerate their high headedness for more than 10 mins. We ordered only an appetizer which tasted okay. I dont think I am ever going bk there! THere are a lot of other gr8 options here which are all a good value for money! Cons: Arrogant attitude, okay food more

Great Food, Great Service 8/11/2009

Great Location and great Food. I have been visiting Tandoori Resturant since 1999 when I first moved to NC from Illinois. I started going to this resturant for lunch buffet that are afforadable in price and good in variety and became a loyal customer for all other occassions due to great customer service and friendly attitude at the place. I have attended several parties at the location also and all in all have been very satisfied with the quality of food and service for the price. Pros: Pricing, Variety, Good Service, Cons: none that I experienced more

Never again... to get such an arrogant treatment 4/26/2009

usually lunch buffet is reasonable here but dinner is a nightmare ..\r Staff at this place are not concerned about customer satisfaction and they don't even ask if it is bad. At the end, after eating bad tasting, half cooked, pricey food if you don't hand over a handsome tip.... get ready to defend your self in a fight with them(You don't have to start it though). \r I would never go there again.... \r By the way I am giving the two stars for the lunch .. for dinner I would give -5 Pros: good ambience & sanitation Cons: arrogant staff more

Best Indian Restaurant with Excellent Service, Food and Price!!! Highly Recommended! 11/15/2008

Fantastic restaurant! I don' know what others are referring to but this place has delicious and very authentic tasting food! The service is fabulous, the owner and waiters are very friendly, the place is very clean, the price is very good (especially the buffet) and I can't stress enough that this is definitely a place to go if you like friendly service and excellent Indian food! \r P.S. We drive from the Clayton area to Durham to go to this restaurant at least once every week to 2 weeks. It's definitely worth the drive.\r \r We are from Canada and everytime we come here (we do short 6 months stints in for work) we make it a point to come here!!! \r \r Another point I wanted to make is in reference to some of the negative comments. I think those that gave 1 to 2 stars all stated that they have been to this restaurant several times but still don't like it. My question is why go back so many times if the food is truly that awful? Wouldn't once or twice be enough to determine whether you like the food? Pros: Excellent food, fantastic service and great price! Cons: Would love it if it were closer to me :-) more

Not good 9/17/2008

Indian food is my absolute favorite, but this place wasn't that great. I went for the lunch buffet. The waitress and other staff were really nice, but the food was below average. Other places I've eaten in the area are better. Small vegetarian selection/ bland greasy dishes. I only ate 1 1/2 plates- which is rare for me at a buffet as I normally would pig out! I would not recommend this place or go there again and will be trying other Indian restuarants in the Raleigh/ Durham area! Thanks more

Awful 2/14/2008

I really hate to give bad reviews, but this food is awful. I had the lunch buffet, and it was truly terrible. My husband has eaten at Indian restaurants all over the world, including India, and this was his worst experience. I can handle mediocre food, but someone involved in the operation of this place just doesn't care. Meat shouldn't be gristly, and sauces should have some flavor. The waiter and host were nice, but neither could even understand my questions. Go to Azitra or Sitar Palace (if you want something in Durham). more

Best Indian food in Triangle 7/13/2006

Coming from LA, I was very pleased to find so many Indian restaurants in the Triangle area. I was NOT pleased, though by the quality of them. I've found that the food in the restaurants I've tried (including Udupi and Sitar) was bland. Not so here. This place is consistently excellent. The nan is always fresh. The food is spicey (though not too spicey if you don't request it). And the service is great -- very friendly staff. \r \r We eat here about twice a month. It's hands-down the best Indian food I've had in this area. Too bad the atmosphere isn't a little more cozy. Pros: Great food, great staff Cons: So-so atmosphere more

The Best Indian Food is not in Cary, it's in Durham... 7/3/2006

My wife and I just moved from Los Angeles less than a year ago. In LA, we were used to having good Indian food and so when we moved to the Triangle, we were eager to find some here. After asking for recommendations, we were told about Udupi in Cary and Sitar in Durham. Both were good, but Udupi was vegetarian only, and I like meat; Sitar was good the first time, but not so good the second time. Then we found Tandoor on NC55. This place is consistently excellent! The spices are hot and the Nan is always fresh. I didn't think a buffet could be this good, but even the buffet's food is excellent. We are regular customers here now and I really don't think it would be worth it to try a somewhere else. Thank you, Tandoor, for giving us the food we know and love. Pros: Food, Spiciness, Service Cons: Atmosphere more

Great place for the Whole Family 5/31/2006

We frequent Tandoor often. It is the only place we like to eat. I have tried other Indian restarants but find them to be the most consistent. The place is impeccably clean. Cleanliness is very important, I have never seen a dirty dish and the bathroom is always neat and clean. Pros: Clean, Good Food, Good service Cons: far from my home more

Best food in town!!! 12/13/2005

I have been to many Indian Restaurants in the Triangle area and Tandoor Indian Grill has by far the best food. Pros: food more

Great Experience!!! 12/4/2005

I just do not agree with some of the unhappy people as my experince has been nothing but great I go to this place at least once a week & found the food to be very fresh & authentic. Buffet is a deal for lunch & dinner. My kids love it. Great atmosphere for family, nice servers, affordable price for a family man. Naan breads came fresh with my buffet to my table as much & any flavours. Tandoori items & ck tikka masala was superb . They are busy on weekend nights with entertainmemt. My kids love the servers.... they know us by name.. Will recommend any time.. Pros: great food, fresh, clean server, greatpa more

So far, the worst in the Triangle. 7/5/2005

Been to 10 different places in the Triangle for Indian food, this is hands down the most disappointing. Food was mediocre at best, tehr waiter once saw me eating samosas... I was placing a small dolop of chutney at a time... he comes over and dumps a spoon of each on my plate and mixs them altogether ""This is how Indians eat chutney"". Not the greatest experience. I have no specific horror stories about the food... it always ( 4 different trips, 2 buffet, 2 dinner) was simply not great. Pros: In Durham, I'm not Cons: boring, bland, lukewarm more

Pretty good 6/19/2005

Not the best Indian food around; could use some spicing up, and yes, the nan isn't that great. But the service is excellent, and the dishes competently prepared. You won't go away hungry or annoyed. After a visit to the lunch buffet, your biggest problem will be how to stay awake through the rest of your work day! more
