The food was delicious and I really love the place .. it was cozy :-) I highly recommend this place for people who would like to relax and enjoy their food and time :-)

I went to Ray's for the first time last November. Though the food was just ok, not the way it sounds on the menu, the service was not very good at all. After a long wait, even w...

Horrid experience at Ray's on the River 8/16/2009

Horrible . . . Absolutely disgustingly Horrible!! There were 7 of us - three couples and a single woman. My husband from the first moment told the waiter we wanted separate checks. When the first course came, the waiter asked ' who ordered what'. The salads got all confused. We had to wait for bread and were told 'they were making more'. We had to ask for water. When the appetizers were through, no one cleared the table and when the main courses appeared again, who gets this?, who gets that?. And we still had dirty dishes on the table from the appetizers. The attitude of the help was 'we don't care.' Now, mind you, we had several restaurant and advertising people amongst this group. Our daughter and son-in-law own and are the Photographers for FLAVORS Magazine. Another young lady works for the Sunday Paper and formerly had spent 20+years at Creative Loafing. Her husband owns ""The Flying Biscuit'. And yet another lady owns ""The Entertainment Guide'. We WILL be in touch with the owner and our friends. Pros: Nothing Cons: EVERYTHING more

Please kick it up a notch. 4/24/2009

Pros: view, interior Cons: slow sevice, & stingy with the wine more

Nice Atmosphere/Excellent Food 3/27/2009

We were here the first week in March. This was my first time at Ray?s, although I have know about it for years. The food was excellent. Perhaps some of the best I have in Atlanta. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Great patio! 3/19/2009

Ray's is a great place for a romantic dinner of drinks after work. During the week, they even offer 1/2 price appetizers which are amazing--the shrimp is delicious & they are absolutely huge. They aslo have phenomenal martini's! The ambiance is also great with live jazz music & the view of the river is the perfect setting for drinks on a pretty spring afternoon. Last time I was there, I think that I saw Patrick Dempsey & Jett McCay having drinks at the bar...wow!!! Pros: Patio, live music, view of river more

Not so great, truly disappointed. 1/13/2009

First time there, not enough breakfast, dinner or dessert selections. Great view of the river however even on a cloudy day. more

Ray's is OK 11/20/2008

Yeah, ""OK"" about sums it up. I have to say that I went for lunch, so take that in to account. I have a feeling this place shines during dinner service, so I'll gladly revise my review if I go back after 5pm. Pros: Good service Cons: OTP more

Best Seafood and service ....Ive ever seen. 10/13/2008

I would recommend Rays on the River to anyone. The place is beautiful - the minute you walk in the front door. You just know its going to be good. You will be greeted by a girl named Heather, you'll know her once you meet her. She will light up your experience. The lounge area is such a great place to unwind from a busy work day. more

Terrible service, marginal food 10/6/2008

Based on the other City Search reviews we were prepared to have a delightful meal. We intentionally went at a late lunch hour (2PM) to avoid the crowds and the higher prices of the dinner menu mentioned by others. We were deeply disappointed. Despite being assigned two servers, the overall service experience was terrible. No one offering to refill drinks, bread basket that was requested but non existent during our entire meal. It finally arrived after we had finished our lunch (and after our experience we had no intention of ordering dessert so we munched on the bread then). In trying to watch calories, I expressed my dietary restriction to the waiter who suggested the spaghetti squash as an alternative to the mashed potatoes. It arrived drenched in butter and I had to move my crabcakes (tasty but about the size of a half dollar) to my bread plate (which of course was clean because there was no bread). The asparagus (all two spears) was wooden-tough. My husband, who does not need to watch calories, had fried shrimp and fries. The fries were burnt and stubby. The cole slaw at the local grocery store was better. The entire meal was under-sized, uninspired, and over-priced. Believe it or not, the service was what really got us. Our two servers walked by our table a few times, never offering to replenish drinks, deliver the requested items, or notice I was not enjoying my meal. When I spoke up to have them replace the spaghetti squash, I received the same item, floating in butter in a bowl. We gave up. We finished our meal and paid the $45 bill. Never again. Pros: Lovely view of the river Cons: SERVICE, FOOD, LACK OF CONCERN ABOUT BOTH more

Great Special Occasion Seafood Restraunt 8/20/2008

Oh my, I had a great first experience at Ray's on the River for my 32nd bday. The river view is a must. It was nice to look over at the view (the landscaping & natural beauty of flowing water) during our excellent meal. All the seafood was truly fresh quality, prepared to perfection, and worth the money for a special night out. Our server was attentive to just the right amount. One of the managers came by, checked on our experience, and made sure to wish me a happy bday. The valet guys were also great offering to take a group photo so that one picture person would not be left out. Pros: Ambience & food more

Nice atmosphere, great food, expensive 7/24/2008

The atmosphere is very nice at Ray's. This is part of what you are paying for. The food was great. The service was just ok. It seemed like we had three different people waiting on us. One waitress seemed like they just brought her in off the street. It certainly didn't match up with the atmosphere. Pros: Great food and view, but expensive. Cons: Average service. more

One of the best in ATL 7/13/2008

Great restaurant for dinner!!!! Ambience is nice, food is great, service was prompt, location right on the river. For a couple expect to pay $70+, not including tip, but its well worth it, the 8 oz filet mignon was the best steak that I have had in or around Atlanta, make sure you get sauteed spinach along with the filet mignon, it comes with creamy mashed potatoes that melt in your mouth, the restaurant manager is always on the floor so that makes the waiters stay on top of things, great place for first dates, taking your significant other out for birthday, or anniversary (romantic atmosphere). Pros: Ambience, prompt service, good food, good view. Cons: no free desert on birthdays. LOL more

Memorable experience, great food 6/2/2008

When arranging my reservation online, I mentioned the one year anniversary of me and my girlfriend and how I would like a wonderful view of the lake if possible, and Ray's on the River delivered. When we arrived, we were escorted to a booth that had a fantastic view of the river, and, from our arrival to our departure, we were wished a happy anniversary by no less than 3 different individuals from the restaurant staff, including the hostess and our server. The food--particularly the 8 oz filet mignon with mashed potatoes--was absolutely delicious, and we were pleasantly surprised by and extremely grateful for the free chocolate cake given to us to celebrate our special occasion. Thank you, Ray's on the River, for a memorable night! Pros: Food, scenery, service Cons: can't think of any more

Best Brunch in the city! 3/24/2008

This is the best place to spend a special occasion or holiday! I love the brunch here! It has recently been renovated and looks awesome. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Great Food, Service & View! Cons: Nothing more

Pricey Disappointment!!! 2/24/2008

What a huge disappointment! My husband and I went here for a special Valentine's Sunday Brunch. Only a few Omelett choices, the meat on the buffet wasn't cooked, cold chicken, overcooked mussels, bland desserts, should I go on??!!!! Oh yea, and we left $72 poorer!!! more

Very upset for a Valentines night out 2/14/2008

Hello everyone! I took my wife and my daughter out to Ray's looking for the same service we got before but was upset my med. well 12oz. filet was served burnt and med. rare. Waited over 10 min. to get the waitress to the table had the filet reordered while my wives got cold as we waited for mine to be cooked again. Finally lynn our server brought it out it seemed to be cooked right but i believe they microwaved it because it was grainy like a sirloin. By then it was late they were closing and here comes lynn with desert we did not order and it was a praline strawberry desert which before this, we asked for a desert menu. We told her we did not want that. I over hear lynn g. tell her manager that she tried to give us the praline that was left over in the freezer but we declined and had cheesecake. Just horrible service and food we waited forever for drinks and everything still paid 55.00 for my filet, desert was free, wow 7.50 free for two hours of my time to eat for valentines day. I hope this review helps your decision on a nice evening with your significant other. Happy Valentines ladies!!!! Pros: valet service great Cons: the resturaunt more
