Best

The apple strudel is fantastic, and the best thing here are the potato balls. They have another location in Burbank. Very good prices.

Worst

Pastries and cakes good. Tres leches excellent. Lines are insane....and the architect should be forced into the Arena of the Gods against Spartacus, Forced to line up three dif...

i always want to go to porto's! 11/21/2005

i love the guava or guava/cheese pastels because they are just as good as ones i got growing up in miami. i generally leave with one or two *dozen*. the cafe con leche isn't quite as deadly but they offer a delicious dulce de leche latte. the sandwiches are awesome, and you can get them to go. the potato balls are heavy and good. porto's offers all sorts of cuban desserts that i haven't found anywhere else outside of miami. don't be intimidated by the line, it moves very very fast. Pros: efficient, wide selection, delicious Cons: always busy more

Great Food, Great Value! 8/18/2005

This is one of my favorite places to go. The pastries and cakes are great! The mango mousse (full size) is to die for. We had it at our wedding. The individual size mango mousse does not do it justice. The sandwiches are also great. They only take cash/check. Bring extra money to take home pastries and breads. The guava rolls are rich and have a unique, tropical taste. The fried potatoes balls are great to eat while waiting. They've opened up a cafe next door serving drinks and snacks. The only bad thing is that there is only one store. I have to drive over an hour to get here. Pros: Great Taste/Value, Inexpensive, Ambience Cons: Busy more

Thought I'd gone to heaven 5/15/2005

After seeing the crush of people waiting I was about to walk out, until I got a look at the food they were walking out with and waited. With all the people there, they got to me pretty quick and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I tasted the potato balls. They are simply awesome. Pros: potato balls, cheap, fresh Cons: big crowds more

jewel of a secret 4/27/2005

A secret that every one knows about! When you enter Portos you can see that this might be your first time but how did all these people find out about it before you! I recommend the cheese rolls! Pick up a boxes during the holidays when you are doing your rounds at friends and family homes they will think you are an angel. They do phone orders for parties! Holidays are crunch times my advise is to pick up at the earliest time, go on in you sweats at 6:30am you will be sorry at noon! The cakes are wonderful! Stop by for Lunch! The Media de Noche (Midnight sandwich) is a Cuban favorite and will be yours too! The Potato balls are something else. Have some there and pick up some for dinner. Trust me you will drag your friends to Portos! Pros: Quality, Variety, Price Cons: Lines, Parking more
