At 25 years of age, I still hadn't had my ears pierced.
At Christmas, I thought I would take the plunge. Though you would think that with a nose piercing and a 10-pair earring collection, I would be ready. I went on the web to do some research, with most of my targets based in Little Five Points. From various reviews, I decided on Piercing Experience, about a mile from the Euclid/Moreland hub.
After talking to Ben and Brian (the owner), I was sold. They autoclave all jewelry and needles
for their procedures for every tattoo and piercing so as to prevent the transmission of hepatitis. In addition, they offer surgical -grade titanium for their jewelry, the same titanium that doctors use in pins for operations. Wow.
Granted, all this fancy near-medical jargon and tool wielding does come with a price. For the ear piercing and a pair of titanium earrings, I paid $55.
So, why did I only give them 3 stars? Well, for all the fuzzy, good feelings I got from choosing to get my ears pierced there, my ears are still hurting. It took 5 months for my right ear to heal, and the left one is still bleeding and oozing (yuck). That's 5 times longer than people who get their's pierced at Claire's or some road vendor in Panama City.
Despite Ben and Brian's massive amounts of research, I think their earrings are poorly designed. From my experience, they were too long and kept getting caught on hair, clothes, towels, anything that came near my face.
I guess I'll just have to wait before that earring collection makes its appearance.
