I've had many many many thai massages but nothing like this one. OUCH! The lady working on me had no idea what she was doing and I'm pretty sure she was not licensed. BEWARE! ...

Absolutely Worth It. 1/7/2012

I went in feeling cramps as the result of stress and physical work on the upper back and neck. I will definitely go back as needed. Friday afternoon seems perfect timing (1pm-3pm) as there was plenty of parking upon my arrival, note their parking lot is huge and free. Receptionist are very nice and professional. The waiting area is a bit small but comfortable, calm and relaxing. I paid $50.00 for an hour full body massage plus $15.00 gratuity (wish I had the 20 or more, she really deserved it). The only thing I did not like was the fact that because their beds are flat on the floor, your head is always turned to either side making complete relaxation hard to achieve, especially when your neck is killing you, other than that, no complaints. Her name is Pebbles. She's a mature, soft spoken lady with great skills. She used her hands, knuckles, forearms, elbows and feet all over my back always with the right pressure, not so hard, not too soft. Overall it was a wonderful experience. more

Totally Relaxing Experience 1/6/2009

I've been going to Pho Siam for about 3 or 4 years now and everytime I leave I'm completely relaxed. You can't beat a 1 hour massage for $40 - totally worth it! They really concentrate on working to get your knots out. They are very friendly and always willing to decrease or increase the massage pressure if you request it. You would never know from the looks on the outside - but this place is such a sanctuary once you walk in! With the great prices - you can get massages more frequently vs. spending $100+ on mediocre massages at other spas! Pros: Affordable prices for an excellent thai massage more

Closest Thing I Found to Bangkok 11/18/2008

I got a full bikini wax and hour massage, and all for under $100! The building is great- a nice, soothing wood atmosphere. They are cash only, but have ATM on site. Everyone was so nice- I mean genuinely happy and kind. I went in for my wax first- just a note that full bikini is completely bare . . . wasn't expecting that. I thought it meant lips and a triangle. Nope- its the full Lolita treatment! And the massage was PHENOMENAL! ! This little old lady climbed up my back on her knees, walked on me, twisted and rubbed me down with tiger balm. There was an intuitiveness I hadn't had before, knowing when it was too much in one spot or when I wanted more in another . . . when she felt I was getting cold she brought me warm hand towels. The massage room was exactly the same as the massage suite I went to in Bangkok. You lie flat down on the floor with the satin curtains and pillows and submit yourself to the massage of a lifetime. I drove home with that post-massage glow. I want to take my parents there when they come to visit me. Pros: Affordable, Highly Skilled, Great Service, LOVE the Atmosphere Cons: Wish I didn't have to take the freeway to get there more

This place is amazing!!! 9/29/2008

I'm reluctant to write a review because i don't want everyone to know about my favorite new place to get a massage!!! more

Thoroughly Enjoyed It 7/21/2008

I'm getting married and really needed a stress reliever. My sister and one of my bridesmaid surprised me with a massage and a facial. It was amazing. I felt so relaxed and comfortable. I didn't expect the massage to be so hard but it felt so good. It worked. The facial was really good too!! I feel so refreshed. I have 4 days left until my wedding (July 25th, 2008) and for the rest of the week i'm gonna "let go and let flow!!" I feel way too good to let anything stress me out!! Also, with my massage & facial, my sisters foot massage, and my bridesmaid massage it was a little (and i do mean a little) over $100. Excellent prices. I'm gonna continue coming to this place. Pros: Everything more

Really Great Experience - BUT Get a Recommendation 7/17/2008

This place can be a zoo on the weekends but a sanctuary during the weekday when it's slower for obvious reasons so if you can go there during the week. Also, I agree with one of the other reviewers about getting a recommendation. I'm not sure if the employees here are licensed, but regardless you should definitely find out from a friend (or perhaps their front desk workers) who to ask for otherwise you may not have such a good experience. With that said, I highly recommend Pho Siam for those who are willing to experience a massage that is unique but very effective. And it's so affordable. I was elated at how well my massage went today and very comforted by the fact that I didn't spend my usual $185 for a 80 minute deep tissue at Burke Williams (it's $60 for a 90 minute at Pho Siam, so I was able to reward my masseuse with a really good tip for making me feel like I stepped out of Burke Williams). AHHHHH. Try it out. more

$40/hr can't be beat! 3/21/2008

Pho Siam is great! I was getting sick of going to massage spas and leaving feeling like I just paid $100 for having someone tickle my back. Not here.. these women put their backs into it! LOL! Be prepared to get beat up.. but in a good way. Dont be afraid to tell them to soften up if you need to. Otherwise you'll have no one to blame but yourself if you didn't like how hard they massage you. more

Great Value for the Money 8/2/2007

For $40, I was able to experience what my friends have been raving about at Pho Siam. Granted it was a little awkward at first (the "walls" of the space are actually just curtains, so you're in close proximity to others). But once you get started... WOW. My masseuse went to town! Typically the woman will work you pretty hard, but they'll let up of you ask them to. My whole experience was a blur, as all I can remember was coming out of there in a total state of nirvana! Note to others: always drink LOTS of water following your massage, or else you'll wake up in the morning feeling like you got run over by a truck! Pros: Inexpensive Cons: small space more

OUCH!! BEWARE 7/9/2007

I've had many many many thai massages but nothing like this one. OUCH! The lady working on me had no idea what she was doing and I'm pretty sure she was not licensed. BEWARE! Make sure you get a recommendation for a good person before going... don't just go and get whom ever because you won't be able to walk the next day. Don't believe anyone who tell you that it's good to be sore and it should hurt.. Not True. Yes it's going to hurt a little during your treatment... a good hurt... not torture! She drove her nails into my head - OUCH - I was sure I was bleeding afterwards..(but I wasn't).... I told the guy at the first desk and he told me not to ask for her next time... I laughed... ya next time. Not going back here. Pros: parking lot....Evening appts .. appt started on time Cons: massage(not good) more

Great and authentic thai massage 6/27/2007

I love a great massage and this is the place to go. They just moved to this facility and it is a beautiful place. I love it when they walk on my back. more

Friendly staff, Convenient Hours, Relaxing area 6/23/2007

For the value, the massage experience is good. I've went there a few times and generally feed invigorated afterwards, just need to find the right person. The location is somewhat less than desirable but as least they have some parking that's partially enclosed. I love it when they are cracking my bones and stretch my muscles. more

Used to like it better 11/1/2006

Since the move to the new location it's a bit of a trek for me. And referring to the earlier reviews now it's got the foo-foo spa vibe - didn't need it. And last time I went I also felt bruised, rather than re-born. The particular problem was my back/spine. The first times I went to the Hollywood Blvd location in Thai town was very cool. I was recommended this place and it worked for me for a while. Now I think i might explore other Thai town places. Would I say try it? Umm, yes, but with mention that they work more on the muscles and easy on the bones. Pros: foo-foo spa stuff, clean Cons: Location, foo-foo more

Bruised and aching after a massage 10/30/2006

I continued to keep going to this massage place for the last year and a half thinking one day I will find someone with gentle hands but after numerous tries I think my last trip is going to be my last. I went for a massage yesterday and there isn't a single muscle in my upper back that isn't bruised or sore today. This is a cheap place and the staff is very friendly but for some reason instead of hands they use their elbows to knead instead of using their fingers and that really hurts. You don't walk away feeling relaxed but more like you have been beaten up. Its cheap so I guess that's a plus but other than that walk in with very low expectations about the massage or else you might be disappointed. The place is very clean and everything else is nice except for the massage. more

Just a Massage Please, No Foo-foo Frills 5/17/2006

Tucked away in a mini-mall in Thai Town, Pho Siam is the place to go for a no-frills, deep tissue kneading and muscle stretching massage. For about $35, you'll be greeted by the friendly staff, instructed to strip down to a pair of very utilitarian cotton pants and get led to a 'room' (basically a floor mattress surrounded by floor to ceiling cotton curtains). In a matter of minutes, your muscles will be pushed, pummeled, kneaded and stretched by skilled, albeit not always gentle hands. The scent of tiger balm reigns here -- no foofy 'aromatherapy' oils are in their repetroire. But by the time they're done, your kinks will be gone, at half the price of more 'upscale' spots. I've usually been able to walk in anytime, though as word gets around, making an appointment may be a good idea. Pros: inexpensive, unpretentious, walk-ins welcome Cons: no frills decor, parking is limited more

  • In Short
Clients in cotton capris (nothing on top) lie on floor mats in Eastern-style massage stalls separated by thin curtains where the intense treatments take place. Authentic Thai massage isn't known for being gentle, and Pho-Siam is no exception. With a focus on deep muscle work, energy lines and joints, clients are kneaded, stretched, pulled, twisted and even walked upon until knots and tension melt away. Foot massage with reflexology, waxing and facials are also available.
