i was thinking about bringing my child here to get dreads but due to the owners extremely unprofessional comments on the negative feed back ( which all businesses get) i think ill pass more

I read the reviews before I made an appointment, I must say I was very skeptical due to all the negative reviews but I decided to call anyway. When I called the lady sounded very pleasant on the phone, and also seemed very familiar with the style I wanted. I went ahead and made an appointment and got my hair done. They are no longer in a salon, but this talented girl does it out at her house, it's very quiet and peacefull and I enjoyed that a lot, needless to say my hair looked fantastic, and I will go back to her. he did mention they will be looking a new salon soon but I really don't mind going back to her place, it was a wondeful experience. more

Maybe OMNH was a better place to get your hair done when Rosario had a shop but she no longer has that shop-- it's closed. And there's a reason why: her lack of professionalism. I don't know who she's paying to give her these high ratings but I am making it my business to not let anyone else get their money stolen and hair jacked like I did. The first time I went in was a few months ago, and it was for a press. Rosario was 45 minutes late to our appointment. I waited for her, because I needed to get my hair done; she didn't apologize for her tardiness but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I went in just a few days ago to get twists and Rosario was not at the shop. I called her to remind her about our appointment and she said she'd be at the shop in 10 minutes. She ended up being a half an hour late. Again, she didn't apologize for her tardiness and lack if professionalism. Then she made an excuse about why she couldn't do twists but she could do a rod set. She reminded me over and over again that she had to go to the Jorge Lopez show. She rushed through my rod set (on the phone and getting directions to the Jorge Lopez show the whole time). Then she took out the rods before my hair was dry but didn't style the hair. She left without finishing my hair and charged me $75. And all she said was, ""I'm sorry. I wish I could have taken my time but I have to go to the show, you know?"" This woman is unprofessional and if she is a good hairstylist I haven't seen evidence of it yet. I agree with a couple of other reviewers. The service is horrible and the attitudes are worse.\r I went to get my natural hair done...and came out very disatisfied with the end results. I don't have the strength to tell the whole story but I had dread extensions done years ago at OMNH and they were great, The shop is worn down now and all of the good stylist have left and the ones there are completely incompent. I had my hair done, it took 13 hours, it was horrible. I had it all taken out and done again by another stylist ...it took 2-3 days and it still HORRIBLE. Thank God I had to come to NY and they have hooked me up and I have a contact in LA to keep it together for me. Don't ask me how much but it went well over 1k to come out with horrible work and the owner telling me that it was good and accepting no responsibiliy or concern for how I felt or why she let 1 stylist (I was her second head) and another inexperienced person work on me. Oh My Nappy Hair Salon is an inviting and down to earth place. Rosario,the owner, is an exceptional educator concerning natural hair. Her establishment promotes being proud of who you are whether you are into the natural look or otherwise. Be proud of your self and confident in the choices you make, is what I sense from the atmosphere of her salon. The laughter from the customers are genuine and the conversations range from politics to relationships are inclusive. Once you step over her threshold, you feel right at home. I've learned a lot about my hair and Rosario has shown me nothing but patience and helpfulness. She has always accommodated me when I just walk in as opposed to making an appointment. Come on in! I've come to this city because of my job, not knowing where to go to get my hair done I looked online and found this salon like the name thought it was fitting, however after reading the reviews..I felt I would make an appointment and make an assessment for myself.\r I am so-oo happy I did I absolutely enjoyed meeting the Rosario and the staff here, they made me feel right at home from the start! talked about politics with old school music playing in the background..I mean really to feel like you belong is kinda like what we all look for..isn't it? I was initially trying to get OMNH's phone number from their website, however, after reading all of the negative reviews I had to open an acct. with this site. The health and maintenance of one's hair in its natural or permed state could not be placed in better hands than Rosario's. \r \r I was a client of OMNH for many years in Oakland and must say she is very knowledgeable about hair in general whether it was african american and caucasian, caring and truly concerned about the state of a client's hair. I too endured the downside of the long hours (but just made the best of my day at the shop because things were always upbeat and fun), locked doors when u arrive, stylists that were not as expereienced as Rosario w/attitude, being washed and left to sit for too long, and the lack of cleanliness. \r \r With all that said, I endured the negatives because the positives: family oriented shop, great conversation, inside shopping and the fact that my hair was healthy and the styles she gave me were unique whether I was wearing a perm or just my natural hair. She took care of my hair, kept it healthy and even though sometimes the style that I initially went in for was not exact, it was always fashionable.\r \r I say to Rosario, clean that shop girl, leave Ms. Schuler's puppies at home as you know all people are not into dogs and having them running all around is well - NOT!! When I first wanted dreads, I went to Oh My Nappy Hair. I found the prices expensive,I had to wait for an hour before she began to do my hair, and she was not in the best of moods, but I was pleased with the outcome. My second visit after waiting 45 minutes for the sulky stylist, she did not have the products to do my hair and she did not have a car. I had to bring her to the beauty supply shop and believe me I was still charged full price but once again I was pleased with the outcome. During my next visit I arrive and waited once again only to find out that the sulky stylist no longer works there and the owner will be doing my hair. She did a nice job but it would have been nice to receive a phone call to know that my stylist no longer was employed there. My next few visits were awful I usually had to wait over an hour for the owner to arrive to open the shop and then had to wait while she set things up. The only reason why I continued going to this salon, I didn't know the area so I did not know any other salons that did dreads. Finally one morning after waiting over an hour, I just left and never returned. Later in the week I saw a person with nice dreads and asked where they got their hair done. I will never go back to Oh My Nappy Hair they do beautiful hair but the service is awful and the shop is not really tidy. It is also true that there are two dogs that are free to roam around the shop. more

My niece has ""Nappy"" hair. She wanted to get it permed, maybe corn rowed, so my sister looked up salons around LA and came across Oh My Nappy Hair Salon. She called made an appointment and all was set. She called me and let me know where it was and what time they were going be there so I can join them. Before I left, I decided to go online and look up reviews for the salon...BOO!!! I read that some customers made appointments and still had to wait hours to get seated, or the place was closed but they had scheduled appointments to come in, or they had to call an out side stylist because no one was available even though they had appointments. Ok so when my sister and niece show up (for their scheduled appointment), guess what happened... the place was closed! But there were 2 dogs inside the salon barking like crazy, and my niece said she even saw someone sleeping on the couch. No one came to the door, no one answered the phone. Nothing. A few hours later the owner, Rosario, finally decides to call my sister, never even apologizes and just tells her some stupid lie, that she was stuck at the airport. BS!! After reading the reviews on 2 different websites I have to agree Oh My Nappy Head Salon is TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Once a liar always a liar. The salons reputation has been tainted, and it is no ones fault but Rosario's. Customers beware. Rosario Good luck with your business. Y'all, I know there have been a lot of mixed reviews on the net about Oh My Nappy Hair Salon in Los Angeles, but I have to say my first experience with them today was pleasurable. I had the first appointment of the day, and, yes, I had to wait 45 minutes until the owner came to open the shop, but from there my visit took a pleasant turn. I had great conversation with customers and staff. My stylist, Christopher, was very customer service oriented, personable, professional and he understood the concept of having a sense of urgency when working with clients. On top of that, he hooked my natural up with a very soft and elegant straw set hairdo. I've been wearing my hair natural for 18 years and have been to salons in NYC and the ATL so I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Comparatively speaking I would say that OMNH holds its own. My experience was great! It was nice to have Christopher and Rosario treat me to a Nubian experience with my hair. I love it. It was not all ALL DAY THING!
