Editorial review from Citysearch 2/26/2013

This place is so good. The food is prepared very well and is reasonably priced. The house wine is excellent. This family-owned business is top notch. Parking is easy. New lunch menu is great. This restaurant is good for take out, delivery, or dining in. Atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. more

Not worth a visit 2/22/2011

Been there with 3 friends a few days ago. I've ordered the special of the day 'rack of lamb' which was barely OK, but just barely. Really hard to chew meat dunked in a thick sauce .....;-( All that for $28 ! The waitress did not allow me to pour wine for our friends at the table. Just to make sure, the bottle was bought there, at the restaurant. She said she'd get fired if she let me pour the wine! This is an Italian restaurant, right? Probably never of the owners or associates there ever was in Italy, but hey. The place really is a step down from the older location. The tiny parking place the restaurant owns costs now $3.50 for 'valet parking'. Wow! Now here comes the best of the worst: I got the bill, I glanced at the bill and found it a bit high. I re-calculated and found that the asked amount is about $50 higher than what we actually consumed. I asked the waitress to have a look at it. She took it and left and then we haven't seen her for good 10 minutes! Then she came back with a new invoice with no word of apology or explanation! She just said: it wasn't me! I signed the invoice and another 'waiter' then came to pick it up. I asked about the invoice and he said 'No, it wasn't him either'. The whole thing was not funny. The manager or whoever is in charge didn't find it necessary to apologize and they wouldn't even find it cool to maybe offer coffee or something to calm the waters. What a disappointment. Never again! more

extravaganza 1/31/2011

this place is extravaganza. ummm.. still feel it more

silverlake gem 4/10/2010

we have had many wonderful meals here and we keep going back. the food is uncomplicated but delicious, and consistently so; the atmosphere is cozy, warm, unpretentious; and the prices thoroughly reasonable. It's everything one looks for in a neighborhood eatery. we feel like family every time we visit. bravo. Pros: great pizza, thin crust; papardella domenico more

Best Italianon East side of LA 3/28/2010

This is the best most authentic Italian food I have found in LA. Family run for over 10 years and specializing in attentive service. If its not on the menu they will do it for you. Home baked breads and desserts, The best Cappelini Checca I've found in the U.S. Amazing daily specials. Great pizza. The address on Citysearch is wrong. They are now on Rowena Ave and Glendale Blvd. in Silver Lake. They are also VERY family friendly (despite of what Citysearch says.). We have hosted large groups there and they always accommodate us beautifully. This has been our special place for over 10 years. The brothers who own it go out of there way to make it an exceptional experience. This is a must try in Silver Lake. Pros: Authentic Food, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere more

Seafood is amazing! 11/10/2009

Finally a place that offers more than the usual fried calamari, they have that too, but you also have so many choices. I recommend their BRAZINO (Sea Bass), it's huge and soooo good. Pros: Location Cons: Kitchen closes early more

A family affair 6/15/2009

I had been planning our family reunion for months. The dates, the activities...quite the project! The first night I was told we would be 22 for dinner. We set dinner at 7, by 8:30 there were ten more! The staff that evening was so helpful. The pasta dishes were a huge success! I think we ordered all but one. Pros: VERY ACCOMODATING Cons: They could use a second story! more

THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! 6/15/2009

Right away you're greeted with a smile from everyone. We were worried we didn't have a reservation, on a Friday night, what were we thinking...They let us know that we could wait for a table inside or sit outside right away. We were anxious to be seated and we were. This place is so cute. We ordered the divina salad and grilled calamari...PERFECT. I had the veal and my friend had the gnocchis. She's Italian, so no place in LA gets it according to her...they did it right. At the last minute I sneaked away and told the hostess it was my friend's bday. All the servers and (owners) came out to sing. We had a the best time. My Italian friend finally approved. She said it felt like just like home! Thank you everyone at Michelangelo! Pros: FOOD! Romantic and friendly service Cons: They aren't open 24 HOURS! more

Good in the past but horrible now!!! 6/11/2009

I used to LOVE this resturant before it move location.Good service great food small and romantic. Now u are lucky if you can get a table. It's always busy and the hostess doesnt make thing better, she is rude and just doesnt care unless you know her. Finally after waiting 2hours for a table when my food arrived it was cold and the server didnt come at all to offer water or ask if everything was fine. So i never could complain because it seem like no one cared. THEY WERE SO RUDE. NEVER will we go there again plus the parking stinks . who ever took charge of the resturant is doing a bad job keeping their loyal custermers from the neighborhood. I live around the corner, so sadly i say no to this once great resturant Pros: great chicken alfredo Cons: terrible cold food and service more

No Thanks 4/11/2009

""I am the biggest supporter of local, family owned joints in Silverlake. This little town is a mecca of wonderful ones and I love it! Unfortunately This one has greatly disappointed twice. First time was at the old location in the village and now the pizza we just had delivered tonight was a distant 3rd to frozen. Pros: Looks romantic driving by Cons: Bad pizza more

New location thinks they're the hottest spot in town...apparently. 1/27/2009

My husband and I regularly got delivery from the original location, and when we saw them move even closer to us, we decided to try to dine in one night. Only problem was, every time we would call for a reservation, they would nearly laugh at us over the phone as if we weren't good enough to eat there. My first attempt was two weeks after they re-opened. It was 5pm on a Saturday when I called to see if they had any availability for 2 people around 7:30 or 8. She didn't say, ""no, I'm so sorry, we're all booked tonight. You're more than welcome to come by and wait for an opening."" All I got was snotty attitude, ""NO, we do not have any availability."" I said...""nothing?"" and she said ""Nothing."" Pros: They are apparently very busy. Cons: Ridiculous self image and they are apparently so busy they can't possibly squeeze you in. more

I am sorry to say new staff and new location don't add up. 1/27/2009

Let me start by saying i am not happy to give a bad review. My husband and I were regular's of Michelangelo's for years at their old location and I wished nothing but success for them at their new site and was very excited to see how busy they always were. Pros: Assuming the food is the same quality, it can be good. Cons: Not being able to get a table. Staff more

Our ""Spot"" 1/3/2009

My boyfriend and I absolutely adore Michaelangelo's. We used to walk there when they were located on Silverlake Bvd, and were devastated when they lost their lease. Where would we go for romantic dates?? Where could we go where people would remember us and welcome us with hugs?! We no longer had a ""spot""! Pros: food, ambience, no corking fee, great staff, fairly affordable Cons: put the delish eggplant on the permanent menu! it's too good not to! more

Great authentic Italian food- from a New Yorker 11/4/2008

I have been going to this restaurant since they were in Silverlake and it is the BEST Italian food in Silverlake/Los Feliz/Hollywood. As a past New Yorker and visitor of Italy, this is one of the only Italian restaurants that I will eat at in Los Angeles. Pros: friendly staff, great food, BYOB more

A defininte Favorite! 11/2/2008

Michelangelo's is gem! I have grown up in Silverlake and I never had dinner there but much to my delight I finally tried it at the new location and I thought it was wonderful and charming. Not a huge Italian food fan but I am a huge fan of good food and quite picky about service and freshness and it gets high marks for both. The food is fresh and delicious and comes out piping hot. It takes more than a flash to get your food because they pay attention to make sure that it is perfect and I never mind waiting as the servers and hosts are always attentive. It is a great blend of rustic and romantic but homey and comfortable. Amazing home made ravioli's, and the many Desserts!!! They're all good but my fave is the Zuccotto! Delicious! Pros: Great food, service and ambience. Very rustic and cozy more

""Like Papa used to make,"" with great service and ambience 9/29/2008

We had been regulars at Michelangelo's old location, and wanted to see how they fared in the new digs. Bravo! Now they've got the space and the ambience to match the food. It's a pleasure to be greeted by the family, who takes real pride in their creation. The night we were there, I had their Ahi tuna special, cooked to perfection with an array of herbs and vegetables and the arugula salad, wondrously fresh and tart with lemon and olive oil. Other guests enjoyed the Pappardelle, a house specialty, and gnocchi in pink Vodka sauce. (If you have any bread left, you'll be sopping it up!) We topped the evening off with a scrumptious dark moist chocolate cake and steaming hot cappuccinos. Hungry yet? Pros: Great food, reasonably priced more
