Special events and private parties 2/22/2010

The Manor House Restaurant is kinda way out west, a little hard to get to nestled deep in Ken Caryl ranch. But it has a real "special occasion" atmosphere. They do have rooms for private parties, and I like it best for these kinds of events. Food is very very good, but not excellent. more

Manor House Restaurant 7/14/2007

Tonight my husband and I celebrated our 39th anniversary at the Manor House and were so pleased with our dining experience. The server was very professional and pleasant, making helpful suggestions as this was our first visit. The restaurant has a very relaxing atmosphere, the service was excellent, and our meals couldn't have been more delicious. We are very happy to have found a place to enjoy fine dining in a beautiful location with mountain views and are eager to return. more

Amazing Experience, Beautiful Property, One of a kind. 1/26/2007

I live in downtown denver, so I tend to favor restaurants in my general area. My only familiarity with this restauraunt was in passing conversation, but I just happened to see an advertisment for the Manor House and I figured why not. My wife and I drove about 25 minutes from downtown and arrived at the whitehouse-resembling property at about 7pm. It was christmas time and the lights were absolutely gorgeous. For living in Colorado 10+ years now I was almost upset to have not experienced this. I had made reservations and we were seated promptly. We sat next to a cozy fireplace, and although the server was a little young in my opinion for a fine dining restaurant, we were very impressed with the service. The wine selection was vast and almost a bit too eclectic for my taste, but overall very impressive. We skipped the appetizer and went for a great blue cheese house salad to start. My wife ordered the salmon which came on a cedar plank; great presentation. I had the prime rib which I was told was a house favorite. The prices were both in the 30's but we did recieve what we paid for. The salmon came out perfect, and the Prime rib was enormous. Both were cooked as ordered, and both were delicious. I must say that I do not normaly review anything, other than in passing conversation... but this restaurant was a must as I would not normaly have traveled to dine in Ken Caryl. Do not miss out on this historic property and amazing restaurant. If it means anything, I already have booked my family's Christmas party for 07' in one of the upstair's rooms. Pros: One of a kind property/setting Cons: None that I experienced more

UNDER CONSTRUCTION PART II 10/22/2006

Food Snob as a rule will not review a bad restaurant. I'm torn a little on this one. I want to like it, but as the last review so eloquently points out they have a good deal of work to do. Pros: The place in general Cons: The food more

Work in progress 10/15/2006

Much like driving through the construction zone on T-rex, it was not pleasurible but you can see the potential if they can work out the problems. The House itself is amazing and the views are even better. The service was basic and what I might expect at a cheap chain restaurant. The menu was appealing, however the kitchen failed to pull of a couple of the dishes ie our trout entree came out cold and raw in the center. The wine list was very eclectic, (we only recognized a few wines listed), which is great if the staff has good knowledge of it but our server fumbled through every question we asked him so we had beer instead of playing russian roulette with the wine list. Our server also had the annoying habit of hovering over our table most of the evening. We thought maybe we just had the bad apple, but when talking to another couple on our way out, they said the guy which waited on them was actually worse. I know that this restaurant just opened back up, so we may give them a try in the future if the staff can get it's act together. If not we will continue eating in Lodo and Sedalia. Advice: go for the views and a drink but keep expectations low if you decide to eat. Prices demand much better service. Pros: Beautiful House and incredible views Cons: Sub-standard fine dining food, even worse service more

NEW WINE LIST! NEW MENU! NEW OWNERS! 10/13/2006

I am the wine director at the NEW manor house. Please come back! This is such a special place for those of us Coloradans and those of us who live nearby. The food will astound you, and my wine list tailors to the cuisine as well as those of us who are passionate about our food and wine choices. There is a new lounge menu that caters to those who, spur-of-the-moment, don't want to cook or just want an affordable evening meal, as well as a twilight menu that humors the family or just the mid-price entrée crowd. My wine list is affordable and offers discounted selections at twilight. I want to sell my wines, and they are priced accordingly. It is such a beautiful location, and the recent renovations make the out-of-date picture (as of 10/14/06) look silly. Pros: Great Wine List, Great Menu Options, Great quality of meats Cons: In the burbs more

Awesome forward thinking cuisine 1/16/2006

We recently moved to the Ken Caryl area from Los Angeles and were amazed by the lack of non-chain restaurants in the area. Luckily we found The Manor House. The food is fantastic. Creative pairings of sauces with perfectly cooked protiens. The salads (especially the daily specials) are a real draw. All desserts are made in house. We've dined there many times in the past year and a half and have watched the calliber of cuisine get higher and higher. Sometimes the service is a little shakey. DONT EAT IN THE BAR>. This is a great place to come if you are a true foodie. Smoked pork loin with white bean cake, prosciutto dust and jalepeno reduction. Cedar plank salmon stuffed with bluecrab, brie, and herbs- fantastic. Enjoy Pros: killer food, great atmosphere, fair prices Cons: dumb servers, rude bartender, no lunch more

Romance is Waiting 11/30/2005

I have been looking for the perfect romantic restaurant to take my wife to and have finally found it. Amazing views, well rounded menu, great food, great service, and less expensive than other restaurants in the same class. Christmas decorations were a bonus as well. Try the Manilla Clams with Chorizo, stuffed salmon, Buffalo Ribeye, or Pork Loin. Highly Recommend. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Food Cons: Not Really for Kids more

Uneven performances 9/4/2005

After several visits, twice with guests, we decided not to return. Two main problems for us: disorganization in general staffing and food delivery; very slow, or no, greeting, seating, coat check; and--the big one, uneven food quality across courses. This is not okay when you're charging 4-star prices. Salads especially unremarkable, though dressings can be nice. Crowding and confusion, limited "view seating" further reduce enjoyment. If mgmt. improves, we'll return. Manor House is one of few non-chain places in that area right now. We're new to Denver, but some natives have expressed similar opinions. Pros: some very good dishes, views at some tables, decent parking Cons: uneven food quality, limited view tables, slow service more

"Halibut Soup" ? 5/30/2005

The Entire experience was horrible. Upon arrival it started out bad; there was no one at the host area, periodically someone would walk by and look at us or occassionaly say someone will be right with you. We were finally seated to a very rude wait person/bartender. So our meal started with wilted lettuce, and the "so called Maytag Blue Cheese dressing"; the main course was no better, there was definatly an overuse of curry spice in the "Halibut soup" which the menu did not inducate exactly how "soupy" the halibut exactly was, and finished with the teeny, tiny chocolate cake. Pros: Not Crowded Cons: Expensive, Poor Quality, Bad Service more

Exceptional! 4/20/2004

I went here with a large group and had the best time! Seated in front of the fire place we were treated with exceptional service and the food was wonderful. We all did the 4 course dinner for two and were pleasantly surprised by the selections and the quality. It is a very romantic restaurant too! more

Had a great anniversary evening. Dining room to ourselves, by the fireplace with a great view of the city lights. Staff very attentive and food exceptionally well prepared. Pros: Ambiance, Parking, Menu more

Valentine's Day Horror 2/14/2003

Unfortunately, I did not have a quality experience with the Manor House. You see, I made reservations for the Manor House in the beginning of January for Valentine's Day. When my husband called to confirm the reservation, we were informed that our reservation had been cancelled. No notice, no explanation! No attempt to make amends for their error! Horrible customer service. As one can expect, reservations on Valentine's Day are hard to acquire. Our night was ruined. I will never go the Manor House again. Not for dinner and especially not for a wedding. I wonder how a poor bride would be treated by this establishment. Pros: none Cons: rude management, incompetent workers, poor customer service more

Old Fashioned Good Service 11/15/2002
