It is only Lunacy not to go 6/17/2010

Remember when restaurants weren't concepts? Remember when ""celebrity chefs"" weren't people who were never there but had their name on the door? Remember when you could get some of the best food in the city without cancelling cable and defaulting on your student loans? Me neither, but this must be what it was like. Two people work here, sometimes three, they own it, they make the food, they price it extremely low. Please don't tell them about the last one, I am not sure they are aware of it. Some of the best sandwiches for lunch, most for under $2. I am not kidding. The dinner is mostly small plates, almost all of them under $4. Still not kidding. It is worth trying to find it. You will be back. Pros: Great Food Cons: Used to be parking, but that's fixed now more

Thumbs down to discrimination 6/14/2010

My group of girlfriends (all in our 30's, successful professionals, most of us mothers or pregnant) do a dinner club every month. We like to pick a new place we haven't been to, and we love to support local restaurants. I live in the neighborhood and was excited to try Paul Luna's new place. I was floored when I got a phone call from them after I had made reservations and was told that they don't like to have large, rowdy groups like ours in their establishment and we should find somewhere else to go. Our reservation was for 11 people, which is a somewhat large party but not IMO prohibitively so. I have no idea where they got ""rowdy"" from. I explained who we are and that we simply were a group of women who like to try and support new establishments. I was told that we would be much too disruptive and it just wouldn't work. Wow. Thanks for nothing. I'll be sure to not give your business my money or my kudos anytime in the future. Great way to do business. more

Taking up a modest-but-lofty space in Downtown?s hotel row, rock star chef Paul Luna?s (Eclipse di Luna, Loca Luna) latest is Lunacy Black Market. It?s a sort of simplistic ode...
