Friendly Neighborhood Asian Restaurant 3/19/2011

My family has lived in Highlands Ranch for 10 years, and Little Holly's is a mainstay for us on nights when we can't or don't want to cook. We love eating in, too. The service is always cordial and prompt, both in the restaurant and for take-out. The staff is always warm and friendly. The food is always above-average to excellent for standard Chinese American cooking. The salt and pepper shrimp is delicious. We've ordered many dishes off the menu, and have never had problems. We LOVE that the restaurant serves a lot of veggies. We've never received paltry seafood or meat portions. Really, I have no complaints. If you want predictably good Chinese food from a friendly neighborhood restaurant, this is the place to go!! more

Terrible food - 11/13/2010

I really want to like this place. it's right around the corner from my house. I've been 3 times and it's just terrible. I've even tried different things hoping to happen on something that is wonderful. The Crab Rangoons are sweet, the Holly's shrimp is dreadful. The sesame chicken is just strange. It smells like buffalo sauce when you open it. The fried rice is dry and boring, no matter what is in it. The lo mein is just limp. You need a lot of soy sauce just to get it down. Just don't torture yourself thinking you are going to get a good meal here. more

It's my ""Cheers,"" Asian style 11/9/2010

I have been a very happy regular customer of LIttle Hollys since the day this restaurant opened. Whether I call on the phone or drop in the restaurant, I am greeted by name. Anne who usually manages the take-out order even knows my voice, what I like, and how I like it (usually extra spicy). \r \r I can't cook food as delicious as this. Every entree and appetizer is fresh and prepared to order. Best of all, takeout is ready in five minutes, unlike PF Changs, PeeWee, and other asian restaurants that make you wait 20-30 minutes. John Holly and CiCi run great restaurants with fabulous food. They earn a five star rating every time I go there. They also run John Holly's Asian Cafe in Park Meadows and Little Ollies Asian Cafe in Cherry Creek North. more

ok for some items on menu 11/4/2010

I order take out here because it's my only oriental food option. They have great house Lo Mein, however, they add way too many vegetables to other dishes. For instance, the Sweet & Sour Chicken had large broccoli and cauliflower pieces. Some may love this, but I am not a fan of those vegies in oriental food. I have never had a problem with a delivery person...they are usually quick and take my $2 tip. more

Rotten Service - Decent Food 9/12/2010

I used to eat frequently at this restaurant. i've since moved further away. Recently, I made a special trip there. I arrived at 3:30. I asked for the Lunch Menu. They said I couldn't order from it, as it stopped at 3:00. There wre ZERO other customers in the place. The staff was sitting around reading newspapers. I asked politely for an exception, as it was only 30 min. past and they were not busy. After all, same menu... no big change for them. He flatly, NOT politely said no. So, my friend and I left. As we walked out, one guy didn't even look up... ""have a nice day. Thank you."" Whatever!! The prices are in the median range.... I expected better from ""John's"" restaurant. I think he would have been disappointed in his lazy staff....... such a disappointment from when they first opened. And no, I will never go back. more

STAY AWAY!!!! 9/8/2010

STAY AWAY!!! We have given this restaurant a couple of tries because the first time we had dinner here it was wonderful! It must have been an off night, We ordered take-out and received 2 shrimp in the Yushan shrimp dish we ordered and paid $13 for. When I called to inform the restaurant what had happened I was yelled at and hung up on!!! Approximately 6 months later we decided that the problem was with “take out” so we went in for lunch on 9/2/10 @ 12:30 pm. Again we ordered the Yushan shrimp and this time we got 5 small shrimp. We ordered wonton soup and we were told “NO not for lunch” then the server came back and said we could order but it would be an additional fee. So we ordered the soup, it tasted like dirt! I don’t know if they didn’t wash the mushrooms, carrots and other veggies they put in the soup but it was truly horrible!!!! We told the server and she told us nothing was wrong with the soup and we should eat it ~ they would not take it off our bill even thought it was NOT edible! We ate family style (a very mediocre meal) paid our bill and left. Late that evening we both got horribly ill went into the emergency room and we were told that we had food poisoning. When I called the restaurant to inform them of what the hospital said they hollered expletives at me and hung up on me. Do yourself a favor and just STAY AWAY!!!! more

DO NOT ORDER!!! 3/16/2009

DO NOT ORDER FROM LITTLE HOLLY'S!!!! The delivery guy tried forcing his way into my house because I only gave him $2 for a tip. Said I owed him $2 more!!! When I stopped him from entering, he jumped back into a karate stance and wanted me to come outside to fight!! I had to call the police!!! When I called the store, they said it is customary to give more than $2! Said the guy is family, and his car does not run on Chinese food! I can't imagine what he does to females that give less money! Intimidates then into giveing more? \r BEWARE!!!! Pros: UNLESS YOU WANT TO FIGHT Cons: BAD BAD BAD more

Surprisingly Good Food 12/13/2008

I thought this place in Highlands Ranch would be expensive, but quite the opposite. It's the sister restaurant to John Hollys and have basically the same type of food, minus the sushi bar. You can ask for dishes and more than half the time they can and will make it for you. Service can be a little slow and the dining room cramped, but overall, if you can get on the patio, it's a nice change of pace. Though when on the patio, you tend to get a little ignored by your waiter/waitress. Pros: Quick service Cons: Cramped interior more

Disappointed 10/16/2008

I ordered dinner for my family from Little holly last night, very salty and small portion food. Worst hot and sour sour i ever had. The delivery order took them more than 1.50 hour to deliver to my door, delivery man asked for more tip for gas. DISAPPOINTED Cons: Need to make better soup! more

DO NOT EAT THERE! IT'S JUST BAD! 10/15/2008

I saw many things bad about this restaurant after dinner with my friends there last night , First, the restaurant is trying to be fusion, but no sucessfully, menu mix of many similar food but named differently, i felt wasted my money on same dishes. Secondly, poor food quality and service, very salty and oilly food, I got upset stomache after got home. no one took care of our table even there was only eating there, no English speaker waiter work there, only the ugly bold looking short guy asked us if dinner was ok when we leaving. Also, i requested my food without MSG, but i still have MSG in my food. There are some more negative things about this restaurant, which i won't spend more time to write about, I JUST WON'T EVER EAT THERE AGAIN!\r \r Cons: Dirty Tables more

Below Average Asian Food 10/15/2008

Below average chinese food, funny looking boss/manager doesn't understand my request on my order, they ended up gave me wrong items, dirty stinky restroom, expired happy hour beer and wine made me sick .\r \r Pros: Alien Looking Boss/Manager Cons: Dirty Restroom more

Great Chinese place! 2/4/2008

We have been there 3-4 times in the last year and every time we liked the food, how the place is decorated and the service.\r I would definitely recommend this place to anybody. It has a modern touch which is rather rare among Chinese restaurants. We will be back there for sure.\r -Peter Pros: Food, service, parking more

Average at best. 11/17/2007

We have given this place at least 7 tries and have had an average meal twice. The other 5 times it was bad. We live very close and this is very convenient so we have really wanted to like it but we will not return. The wontons were soggy. The Sesame Chicken was weird. It had very little chicken and a whole lot of veggies. The beef moo shu had very little beef. It was all cabbage. The rice was even bad. Plus, it is pricey with small portions. It is a cute clean restraunt but the food truly leaves a lot to be desired. Pros: Cute, clean place. Cons: The food was boring and bland. more

Terrible Experience, place is run by morons 4/15/2007

Had an awful experience at Little Holly's recently. We waited for well over an hour for our food, meanwhile seeing people seated around us getting their food even though they were seated 30 minutes after us. All the while the staff totally ignored us, wouldnt even come back to refill our drinks while we waited.\r \r After voicing our displeasure we got the run around trying to speak to the manager. I dont even think there is a manager the place is run so poorly. None of the staffed seemed to understand why we were upset that our food took 75 minutes to arrive, while all other table were being served. They actually told us we should ""be happy"". Their excuse for our poor service was that they were short staffed. I asked why being short staffed would cause them to serve people out of order, they could not grasp this concept. They honestly didnt understand why we were upset and were not willing to make things right.\r \r I will not be returning, do yourself a favor and save yourself the hassle. more

Food snob says...... Grrrrrr ate 9/24/2006

Another recent try based on what City Search people have to say. They ought to dump that last review. This place is very good. Fresh, and it shows that the chef/owner care about the quailty of food and the way its served. I was feeling down with a cold and opted for a large bowl of Won Ton Soup. ( not many places do this anymore) The waiter was surprised that was all I wanted so the chef chose to take it up a notch by adding shrimp and vegatables. I was very pleased and impressed with the EXTRA effort. More restaurants need to put forth an extra effort to bring people back. My better half loved it as well and she' harder to please. A long drive for us, but we'll go back more than once.\r Pros: English spoken here Cons: Kinda a long drive from center city. more

Wife loves it, I tolerate it 10/16/2005

The food is fresh and light(for Chinese Food). However, to me everything is bland. You can order any dish and it will taste the same as anything on the menu, therefore, order the cheapest dish. I do like the Hot and Sour soup and the Lettuce Wraps. The restraunt has a great ambiance and everyone is friendly and fast. The real reason why I will continue to eat here is because it is the only option in Highlands Ranch that is worth half the cost of the meal. Pros: Fresh, Parking, Service Cons: Bland, Some Prices, Table Arrangement more

Little Holly satisfies big appetites 2/3/2004
