Small, friendly, unfussy 1/20/2009

I've been to Le Petit Bistro perhaps half a dozen times. We've had the same waitress every time -- I think she must be one of the owners. She's incredible -- friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, will make things right if they aren't. Tonight we were in a rush -- bad luck when you're looking forward to a leisurely meal. I told her our problem and she put the meal on fast track -- we were in and out in 45 minutes for salad, entree and coffee! The food is generally excellent, can be a little rich if you're not accustomed to a high-fat diet. The menu is short and doesn't change much, though specials are reliably worth ordering. Only one vegetarian entree. They no longer seem to have my favorite salad with apples, but the house salad is still quite decent, with julienne carrots and beets as well as lettuce, and not too much dressing. Every entree I've had has been flavorful, tender, not too large a portion so I have room to enjoy appetizer and dessert as well. They take care with the accompanying vegetables, usually carrots, beans and mashed potatoes -- they're always perfectly done and a treat. A fruit-filled dessert crepe divides very nicely if you feel like just a little something afterward. It's bright enough to read the menu in there, and quiet enough to enjoy a conversation. Best of all, I can get my husband, who would never go Near a stuffy restaurant, in there once in a while! Pros: quick seating, friendly service more

Fantastic restaurant 12/5/2008

I had a great time and enjoyed the food last weekend. I surely recommend this place for a quiet night during the week with your girlfriend. The food is simple but tasty and for a french restaurant it is very healthy food, no heavy cream or butter. Everything seems to be taken into consideration for the elderly guests, but it is not a problem at all. I enjoyed everything and the owner, Jean-Michel brings a lot of French atmosphere to the restaurant. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys simple French food with a lot of taste. more

Friendly and authentic 2/19/2006

We have been here a couple of times and the owner was always very friendly. The food is very authentic and is served in a relaxed way. Don't go to this restaurant for a quick bite, but I would highly recommend for a relaxed dinner. more

Not Recommended. 2/14/2006

The restaurant looks like a foot court, the lighting is so bright (romantic is definitely a ""No"" and don't even try to bring your girl friend there). It's supposed to be a french restaurant but interestly they are serving american food. My waitress does not even look at our table and I need to ask three times for water. I don't know why it deserves a 8.9 rating here. more

Excellant food / Service so-so 7/7/2005

The main courses were excellent. We tried the beef and the fish dinners. I recommend the beef over the fish. Appetizers were also incredible, a little pricy for the portion. Dessert wasn't anything to write home about. Although we were seated immediately and orders came out timely, the service wasn't that friendly, there seemed to be a hint of snobbery. Maybe it wasn't such a great day, I will definitly give the restaurant another try. more

The place to bring your friends! 5/24/2005

The food and wine are amazing, the desserts heavenly, and the service and hospitality outstanding! I can't say enough about this little place. The owner/chef/host is always charming. I would highly recommend giving it a try! Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, relaxing more

Excellent 1/2/2005

The tastes explode in your mouth. Everyone I have taken to this restaurant over the years has loved it. The food is excellent and the service is always a pleasure. I would highly recommend their fish specials and I have always enjoyed their crepes. Enjoy! Pros: excellent food, good service, good place to have co more

authentic French cuisine 9/24/2004

My boyfriend and I were picking a random place and decided on French. We picked Le Petit Bistro, by accident. To our surprise, it was amazing! The salads and entrees are tasty and well worth the pricing (average). If nothing else, try this place for their amazing Tiramisu (freshly made). The chef is the owner and has been for 10+ years. It's a small place and a hidden jewel of Mountain View. This is a place reserved for the romantic ambiance and really good company. Pros: food, service, ambiance more
