Beautiful Theatre 9/24/2005

The Oriental is a Milwaukee landmark and the staff has kept it in pretty good shape through the years by renovating constantly but still keeping that 'old' feeling. Before the film starts just recline back a bit in your seat and look at the ceiling, it is absolutely gorgeous. Oriental specializes in showing more independent films that don't make it to the mainstream theaters. They also have good ticket prices so you can enjoy good cinema without breaking the bank. more

Hidden Theater 8/15/2005

The Oriental Theatre is my favorite place to see movies. Why? It's like a secret place that's almost magical. It was once a theatre and now they use the space for showing movies. Inside are these huge statues with glowing eyes, and it's just so royal and old. They show independent and obscure films as well as some movies you will find playing at the chain cinemas. They have a Rocky Horror Picture Show night where you can join along in the fun with all the rest of the viewers. A team of actors/actresses act out the movie while the film is playing on the screen. Lots o' fun! more

Niche Movies 8/14/2005

There are few movie theatres that have limited release showings in the milwaukee area. Oriental Landmark Theatres is one of them. As a fan of anime, this theatre has provided a perfect outlet to watch feature films that never make it to more popular national theatres. The environment is nice, and the price is perfect for the college student, cheap. I recommend checking this place out. more

Favorite Place to See a Movie 8/12/2005

The atmosphere is outstanding. It's a renovated theater in a cool part of the city. Right next door is the Twisted Fork which is a nice place to get a bite before the movie. The movie selection is really good. They show a lot of independent and "art house" movies. The theaters are big and I've never had a bad spot. The seats could be more comfortable but they are not as bad as some old theaters. more
