Kids board this summer ?
One of our favorite places to go is the zoo !!!
On the spur of the moment I'll tell the kids to pack a
lunch, get on the sun screen and head out to the car.
Our Milwaukee Co. Zoo has really changed from when I
was a kid. (We went every year)
Then-We had our famous gorilla named Samson that would scar the blank out of us when he hit the glass.
We would get to feed the animals. The bears would sit up for a marshmallow. They loved them !!!
We always had to bring bags of peanuts for the elephants.
Yes the exhibits were boring back then for the animals.
But...
Now- My kids get to see the animals in exhibits that look like they are in the wild.
They have so many fun things to do now days.
****New Sky Safari, Cost: $3 (round trip)
Weather permitting
You get high in the sky and it is sooooo cool to see the exhibits from above.( If you wear slip on shoes you may want to take them off. I did because I was afraid they would fall off and hit someone down below.)
*****Expedition: Dinosaurs Cost: $2.50
Through September 4
26 life-size recreations of the prehistorical creatures will come to life right before your eyes !!! Follow the dino tracks painted on the path, behind the Small Mammal Building
( You will know when you are getting close !!!)
~ A La Carte & Sunset Zoofari ~
Held rain or shine. Reduced admission rates: $5 Adults; $3 Children (ages 3 to 12); Free parking
Extended hours: 9:00 am. till 10:00 pm.
*****Milwaukee Journal Sentinel A La Carte
August 17, 18, 19 and 20
They call it Feast with the Beasts ~ food and music festival!
~29 restaurants (It's hard to pick what to eat because all the food is soooooooooooo good !)
~The sound of music fills the air with national and local bands performing at six different stages throughout the park. (My kids love to dance the evening away, even after walking through the zoo 4 times during the day)
~Wine Tent featuring jazz acts, and the Comedy Sportz
~Mutual Family Farm, as special activities are offered
*****Sunset Zoofari
June 28; July 5, 12, 19, 26; and August 2
These are Wednesday evenings ~ music, dancing and and an evening outside on the Flamingo Patio!

The Mitchell Park Domes make for a great afternoon walk. There are three domes and each one has it's own theme.
The first, is a backyard style theme. With rows of vegetables growing, beautiful tress, and domestic florals. All set in a gorgeous picturesque atmosphere.
The second, is a dry landscape, such as you would find in a dessert. Beautiful plantings and a wonderful pathway.
The third, is a tropical, wet forest type area. Full of birds, butterflies and bugs. This one is my favorite. Blooms from all kinds of plants and trees are abundant. The chirping of the birds is enchanting and enhances the trill of trying to locate the birds hiding in the vibrant foilage.
If you are a military person, retired or active, stop at the USO down by the lakefront..where the museum is, they will give you tickets for FREE admission.
Great parking by the way!!

Ok, I live on the other side of town, but will gladly drive the 40 minutes it takes just to watch a movie here! Its so cute, the food is pretty good and its nice to be able to watch a movie on the big screen while relaxing on a loveseat with a pitcher of beer and some fried food! I've come here on dates, with a friend, and with a big group and everytime, we all have a blast!
Pros: Couch, Beer, Food, Movie - What More Can I Say?!
Cons: Parking

Are you wanting to learn how to skate? Or the parent of an Olympic hopeful?
This is a premiere ice skating rink capable fulfilling all the needs that you might have for skating.
Instruction is available. And there is also free skate periods where you can just play around on the ice if you like.
A great place to go in the dead of summer. Nothing like cooling off all the way down to the bones and getting some great cardiovascular excercise while having fun.
Wonderful place to go and play. Great parking also.

What a marvelous experience for most everyone. There are a few Imax films that may not be appropriate for very young children, but most are simply phenomonel.
The large screen, excellent seating no matter where you are, and superb sound quality make this a must see in Milwaukee.
The movies change frequently, so there is always plenty to choose from.
The most popular ones are often very busy and pre-buying your tickets is a very good idea.
The parking is expensive, so your best bet is to come on a Sunday, when street parking is free and pretty plentiful.

I have been seeing plays at the Rep since they moved into their current space. And THAT'S been a LOOONG time!
I love everything about it!
The theater is great! Seats are perfect! The actors - THE BEST!
I love EVERYTHING about it!
My husband and I would see EVERY play that the Rep produced and for a while, we saw just about every professional play in Milwaukee. And the Rep always stood out as THE BEST!
If you are trying it out for the first time, grab your Entertainment book and use the 2 for 1 coupons. If you enjoy what you see, think about subscribing to season tickets. You can get some awesome deals for some great theater!
HUGE THUMBS UP!

Not only is the Art Museum wonderful for a cultural experience, but it also offers a place for a wedding/anniversary reception. The museum represents one of the most grand aspects of Milwaukee in design as well as its modern artists on display. Children and adults can enjoy the many intrigal areas, including the fine cuisine and interactive displays. One must return for a second or third visit to consume its beauty.

What a great way to place to play with the kids or have them practice for baseball season. They also cater great birthday parties. It is reasonably price and a fun way to spend a cold weekend afternoon. It is a super place to keep yourself in shape (or the kids for extra practice) by using the batting cages. They have different speed pitches for different ages and athletic ability.

Concerts, Games, a whole different variety of things go on at the Bradley Center. Although some of the venues can be a little different, you can always expect a safe trip and safe time inside.
The security is great, and there are usually no problems heard of.
The headlining concerts are awsome to attend because of the great seating and not outrageous ticket prices.
Parking, though, can sometimes be a problem and the lots around the Bradley Center rip you off!
