The service was tragically offensive, the food was mediocre. They were under "new management" as I was informed several times. It was awful. After 4 years of pleasant experiences there, I won't be back again. It was that bad. more

Reminds me of MY Indy... 10/22/2010

As a child, my mother would take me to the original LS Ayres Tea Room. She would tell me of how she would take the bus into downtown as a child, and have a special treat at the Tea Room. 4 generations of our family had eaten at the beautiful, original Tea Room...and it was treasured. Now, I take my 9 year old daughter to the New Tea Room. I share our family stories with her as we sip on our Chicken Velvet Soup and nibble on our "fancy" bread. We have tried most of the items, and the only one that no longer tastes the same as I remember is the Chicken Pot Pie. The crust is a little different and the cream no longer tastes like their Chicken Velvet Soup. The clown ice cream cone is IDENTICAL to what I remember as a child, and it never fails to make my daughter smile from ear to ear. Also, the clean plate treasure box, is ALWAYS a thrill. My daughter took her doll with her, and our waitress brought her a highchair for her baby...and even brought her doll a treat along with one for her. I still recommend this restaurant to everyone that I talk with. It is a delightful lunch with unique to Indiana yummies. After leaving, I always feel like one proud Hoosier lady. more

Just like the original! 7/28/2005

The LS Ayres Tea Room has been recreated at the Indiana State Museum and offers great memories for those who visited the original. The menu is the same as is the decor. The food was very good although being a "tea room" the menu is rather limited. Their awesome pecan balls made for a great ending. It offers a unique lunch opportunity if you're looking to break the norm. Then you can also visit the museum if you like. It's located right on the canal so you can walk off the calories after lunch. There is a $1 parking fee at the museum. more
