Loved the special killer roll 3/31/2012

We went to Kitcho last week and sat in the velvet lounge side. So relaxing and cool! I tried the calamari salad and then got the special killer roll. The presentation was beautiful and everything tasted fantastic! The bartender also waited on us and the service was great. more

Freshest sushi and atmosphere 1/25/2012

Not anything like the ""buy one get one free"" sushi places that have been popping up all over town. This is an established local place that has some of the freshest sushi and sashimi I've ever put in my mouth. As a bonus, they have a full menu with great salads, soup, and entrees, but I usually just stick to the sushi menu. Great atmosphere, especially in the Velvet Lounge. more

Excellent sushi 10/11/2011

I go here at least once a month and almost always get the sushi. It's so freaking fresh that I can't really deviate. Well, except for the fact that I usually get the edamame and calamari salad before the sushi arrives. And a good cab or pinot grigio. We usually sit in the bar or on the couches of the Velvet Lounge. It's more laid back, plus we love the bartenders. It's a great place to meet with friends and chill. Back to the sushi: there are a lot of sushi places that have popped up all over the place, so many, in fact, that I wouldn't be surprised if McDonald's started offering a McSushi on their menu. But keep in mind that Kitcho knows what they are doing. They use the freshest fish imaginable. Upgrade to the real wasabi (did you know that there's a difference?) and you are in for a real treat. more

You want Miso? They got your Miso... and fresh fish too! 4/4/2011

We've all been there, walking through the door of a new sushi place, waiting to be assailed by that old fish smell or handed a less-than-publix quality sushi roll. Trust me, this won't be that time. Kitcho's is located next door to a fish market where they serve the *fresh* fish that you will find in your roll, your bento box, or slight seared in tantalizing strips on your plate. But backup, let me go to the beginning of the mail for a moment and mention the miso soup. I've been to Japan on at least 4 different occasions and have developed a love for miso soup (mainly for breakfast, but I can't get a Japanese restaurant state-side to open that early!) and must say that Kitcho's makes some very tasty and authentic soup. Mmmm! Even if you don't like the soup you can always get a decent little salad with some of their homemade dressing. But that really isn't my taste. Anyways, I have been to Kitcho's at dinner, lunch, for business, for dates, and must say the food has never dissapointed me. Ok, I lied... there was that one time I bought the Love boat and couldn't finish it -- it's disappointing to leave sushi behind! ;) The atmosphere is great, the prices are about average for a restaurant, and I would say they are decently priced for what you get. The service can be a tiny bit sketchy during lunch when the waitresses are busy, but at least they keep me refilled on the Cucumber water! This would be the only slight downside, and it isn't common place -- I assume it's because mainly Lunch service has people coming for the Sushi buffet; so someone like me who orders off the menu might be a bit more impatient! ;) more

Most unique sushi place in town 4/4/2011

Kitcho is the most unique sushi place in town. Unlike the trendy, cookie-cutter places that are popping up all over town, Kitcho is an established restaurant, using the freshest seafood, and as a cool alternative, has the Velvet Lounge off the bar where patrons can sit on couches in a casual atmosphere, minus the tables. The service is chill and laid back, yet attentive. Sushi and sashimi are prepared with care and presented beautifully. There is also an extensive menu for those who want to order stir fry, bento boxes, soup, salads, or appetizers. Kitcho also boasts a full bar, where people can sit and drink or order food. It's a great Tallahassee staple, in a good location, with ample parking. No complaints here. more

Amazing Food, Poor Service 1/7/2006

I keep wanting to go back for the exceptional sushi here but the service turns me away. The last few visits have been an awful experience. I called the other day for take-out, and they were too busy to take take-out orders. I'm done with this place! Pros: sushi Cons: service more
