Nice for Ithaca... 1/29/2011

I've been a member at Island for over a year. Although its a ""nicer"" facility compared to what the rest of Ithaca has to offer, they need to make some improvements--1) get individual TVs for the cardio machines (almost every gym I've ever been to has these now), 2) women's locker room is gross & should not smell or look the way it does on a daily basis, 3) the parking is hard to find at high traffic times (after work), 4) towel service should be free 5) improve fitness classes (very little variety and offered at inconvenient times for people working normal business hours). more

Good facilities and awful management 5/29/2009

I was a member for two years minus a period when they canceled my membership and then made me pay the initiation fee. I thought this was absurd being as I had been a member for a year. When attempting to cancel my membership, I was informed that I would have to pay for the next month as well even thought I was not using any services. The owner, Terry Ciaschi, then insulted my education and career experience when I complained about this policy. So inconsiderate. Other friends also complained of similar situations. Needless to say, I am very disappointed by the incredibly low level of customer service. I would not recommend this place. more
