The Johnson Museum is a great place to go on a weekend trip or when you have a few free hours. Whether you are a Cornell student, an Ithaca resident, or tourist, there is something for you. The museum has many exhibits and has special ones all the time.
Once can go just for fun, but there are many educational opportunities available. The museum also does workshops and other special events. If for nothing else, go to the Johnson Museum to take advantage of the spectacular view of Cornell and the surrounding Ithaca area.
For Cornell students, I would highly recommend visiting the museum at least once during your tenure at the unversity. For others, also a great place to take advantage of if y ou are in the area.

I have personally used Taylor Rental and I know many people that have used their services. They are really really good and are extremely reliable. The greatest thing is that they have pretty much everything you need from linens and tables to popcorn makers and dunk tanks.
They are always very organized and can deliver all the needed supplies as well as pick them up.
I hav enever had any problems with them. Prices are very fair and they do an excellent job. Highly recommended.

The Bike Rack is one of the few options for bikes, supplies, and repairs available to people in Ithaca, especially students living in the Collegetown area. For those who like to ride their bikes to class, the store is a good safety in case you need emergency repair or parts. The store usually has an experienced mechanic on hand who can fix almost any problems.
While I would necessarily advise buying a bicycle there as you can probably get a cheaper one elsewhere, this is a good, dependable store to purchase accessories or to fix your bicycle if it gets damaged or something breaks.
It is conveniently located in Collegetown so it is very close for most students. If your bike was in an accident and can't be ridden, you can just walk it down to the store instead of having to find a ride and drive somewhere in order to get it fixed.
Overall, this is a good store, but I would advise using it only for certain purposes.

I always enjoy visiting the Upstairs Gallery because it's a small and friendly place and I can always count on exploring works that are interesting and inspiring. Many of the exhibits are of local artists, including members of the community and of Cornell University and Ithaca College. Depending on the artist, the works for sale may be expensive. They sponsor gallery talks by the artists and participate in one of Ithaca community-bonding events, Gallery Night, which is held several times a year.

I've gone to Ritz Camera seveal times for various reasons. I have not had a chance to buy a camera there although from what I have seen, you can probably find cheaper prices on the internet.
I have gone there for passport photos. For passport photos, I would highly recommend Ritz. They give you twelve or so photos so you can save most for use at other times. Because they give you so many, they charge a little higher price, but when you compare the price per picture, Ritz comes out on top. When I needed photos, I first went to Kinko's and the pictures they took were so bad that I didnt' even buy them and had to look for another place. I then went to Ritz and they were much more professional about it. They had a special setup for these photos and knew exactly what they were doing.
Ritz is also a good place to get your photos developed.

Until a couple of years ago, Klein's was one of the few, if not the only, big sporting goods store in Ithaca. Then Dick's sporting goods came into the area and Kleins had some tough competition.
I've been to Klein's several times and they have a wide selection of sporting goods for all sports ranging from baseball and basketball to tennis and golf. The staff there is pretty knowledgable and can direct you in the right direction and help you pick out gear.
I'm not too sure about how their prices compare to Dick's. I would suggest going to both a couple of time and comparing.
I have always been satisfied with my purchases there and have never had any problems.

Extraordinarly overpriced bicycle botique that takes advantage of its proximity to Cornell's campus. Atrocious customer service. Be aware of over-priced accessories that they will try to sneak into the sale.
Bikes supposedly come with a "free checkup" - beware, they don't actually do any work on the bike during the checkup, just gather a list of things that "need to be fixed" - often inflating the prices of said repairs beyond their own listed prices.
Find a better bike shop a bit further from campus - you'll be glad you took the effort.

I first heard of Ide's Bowling in the Cayuga Waiters song "We Didn't Go to Harvard." I went there a couple times, but wasn't too impressed. The place is pretty old and rundown and you feel that kind of atmosphere when you walk in.
The ball selection is a little limited as well. One advantage is the automated scoring as opposed to paper and pencil. The price is a bit high for bowling. This is especially true if you are a Cornell student and can use the bowling lanes in Helen Newman. Compared to that facility, Ide's runs a far second. It is more expensive and the facilities aren't as nice.
Going to Ides is good when Helen Newman Lanes are closed, but that is the only time that I have gone there. I have tended to avoid the place overall.
My recommendation would be to try and use Helen Newman Lanes if you can, but if you are dying to bowl and can't go there then Ides should be suitable.
