STL Favorite 9/24/2008

Don't forget to wipe, needs to shut their mouth. I am from St. Louis where Imos Pizza (the thin pizza style is commonly know as St, Louis style pizza) originated and throughout St. Louis Imos Pizza ranks among the best and I'm thrilled that I can find it here in KC, although no one here puts the heaping amount of cheese on the salad the way they do in STL). Perhaps if ""Don't forget to wipe"" - (he person who blatanly bashed Imos pizza just a few reviews down) had waited, I don't know maybe three or four minutes for the pizza to cool before they stuffed it into their glutenous face, then the gooey cheese, provel, would have set up and the pizza would't have infact been runny. I would know, I've been eating this pizza for my entire life and such a problem could only occur when a PIG person such as ""don't for get to wipe"" can't wait to stick their face in the trough! Pros: Its awsome and its the only St.Louis style pizza you can find in town. Cons: Imos in KC has the common problem of all Imos when they leave STL they don''t put a ton of cheese on the salads the way they do in the STL, even when you order extra cheese. more

Yummy Stuff 5/18/2008

I am surprised that people are talking trash on Imos. My best friend and I love it and eat it far too often. It's different than a traditional thick crust pizza- the crust is really thin. Then they add a really yummy cheese on top- it's almost creamy, and any topping you want. Our favorite is mushroom and black olive. They have good salads and the nicest delivery drivers in town. I recomend it to anyone who likes thin crust pizza because this is by far the best. more

Don't forget to wipe 1/11/2007

Mid-City KC is lacking in sit-down middle-run pizza joints. That's how my friend and i came across Imo's. A pizza place we'd heard little about, but what little we heard was nothing compared to the horror we had. The pizza came to us fresh as fresh can be - right out of the oven and we were all over it. We hadn't eaten all day and it was about 6pm now. We had been waiting for this moment for quite some time. I quickly grabbed up a ... square... and put it to my lips only to be scalded by the runniest mess i've ever encountered on a pizza. Understand that these pizzas are runny. Very runny. The millions of cheese they boast turn into a round lake when they come out of that oven and breaking the thin-crust dam that holds it back yields sloppy results. Don't worry - it gets worse. We had gotten an all-meat pizza, being quite far from vegetarians. This may not have been wise, in retrospect. The meats emanated greases which just added to this slimy mess we had gotten. As i said, we were starving, and shoveled it down nonetheless. At first the pizza was just slimy and greasy, which, when put on a square-cut thin crust makes for a very messy eating experience, but as time progressed the ingredients hardened and the once crispy crust became a greasy melted cheese-soaked sponge of revulsion. But alas, we were hungry and ate it anyways. By the time we got to the last 4 pieces we were regarding them with fear instead of hunger. ""Will the next piece be just as bad as the last one?"" we asked ourselves, hoping to god our last piece would be a good one so as not to leave this bad taste in our mouths. In the end we gave up and decided to opt out on the last pieces. Hungry, we walked out with a nasty film of grease lining our mouths. The full effect wasn't truly felt until about 30 minutes later as the pizza started to settle into our stomachs. By the time we got home we were in a state of utter nausea that continued for many hours. Pros: They don't make the drinks Cons: Everything else more

Uniquely Thin Experience 11/1/2002

The best....most unique pizza in the city. This St. Louis based pizzaria uses multiple cheeses to create an incredible ultra thin pizza. Not much in the way of on-site atmosphere as Imos is a fan favorite for carry-out or delivery. I moved to Chicago(the self procalimed home of pizza) 3 years ago, and I still long for Imos every weekend. Imos specializes in thin pizza, so thick lovers may be better off with somewhere else. I've tried them all and I truely believe, it ranks as the very best in KC. Give it a shot. The salads a good too. Pros: Great Food, Unique, Good Value Cons: Atmosphere more

Blech! Salty Pizza! 8/13/2002

I only ate here once because they gave us the wrong toppings (anchovies which made it salty!!!) when we had ordered combination pizza and when we realized it (after taking a bite and getting grossed out!) and took it back, they claimed they didn't make a mistake and that they didn't have anchovies!!! Worst food and service I've ever experienced! VOTE FOR PAPA JOHN'S, they deserve best pizza AND service!!!! :) Pros: Parking, Cheap Cons: Bad Service, Bad Quality, Small Place more

Incredible Imo's 7/29/2002

Growing up in St. Louis only seems fair to say that Imo's is the best pizza around... it something different than the ordinary thick pizza crust.... its thin and cripsy.. with all the best toppings :) Pros: Yummy, Great Friendly Worker, Postive Environment Cons: lights are too bright more

Great pizza! ....but take it home 7/22/2002

The cheese blend is awesome, the crust superior, and the toppings marvelous. Make sure to ask for the breakfast bacon. There is nothing special about the atmosphere, so just order it to go. more
