Client Satisfaction Is Our Number One Goal 2/27/2013

As a small business owner, customer satisfaction has always been and will always be our top priority. Therefore, I find it necessary to respond to comments posted by Amber J. dated August 15, 2012. House of Diamonds strives on a daily basis to maintain quality products and services at a reasonable rate and this particular case was no exception. This client brought in a ring that she had purchased off the internet. She brought the ring to us to have a stone set into an existing setting. The ring had major structural issues. The material was lightweight and the mount was of sub-standard build. After careful review, our recommendation was to replace the current head and to rebuild the support. I find it difficult to believe that another jeweler would tell her that I was “pretty much lying.” The prices were shown to this client from a price book used industry wide. Once you accept a job of this nature, you also accept liability for the ring as a whole. We were unwilling to take on that type of responsibility without the recommended repairs. The price quote was broken down and explained to her in detail. Ultimately, she was not willing to pay more than $100 to repair this piece and could not understand why we would not agree to simply mount her center stone without securing the structure. Under no circumstance will we cut corners to secure any business!! We thrive on the principle that only quality product will be manufactured and distributed at House of Diamonds, and we stand behind all of our products and repairs. After repeatedly asking us to perform the repair for $100 and receiving the same response, she stated she was disappointed in House of Diamonds because she had called and was given a repair quote of $100 over the phone, sight unseen. Since this is not something we do, it became apparent to me that I was dealing with a dishonest and deceptive individual. At that point I informed her she should find another jeweler and we would not be doing any work for her. \r I apologize if being open and honest with this individual caused her feelings to be hurt, but using this venue to be vindictive and dishonest is shameful.\r \r \r This is in response to a posting on 04/08/2008. \r I appreciate this venue and the great service it offers to potential \r Clients, however I am equally concerned about comments and statements \r with no merit which can prove damaging to one's reputation. As this \r person indicated, a price was agreed on for a Diamond and custom made \r ring.\r However; they had no means to place a deposit on that day. It was \r agreed, we would create a model through a CAD/CAM process and they would deliver the deposit the following day. Instead of a deposit we were informed she would only pay a smaller amount and if we were not open to renegotiate to their price she would take our model (they still had not paid for the model) and go to a ""friend in New York"" to have the ring built.\r We informed her we were not in a position to renegotiate the \r price, and this is not how we conduct our business. Since a deposit was \r not placed on the project or Diamond, we concluded the deal was void. \r We did sell our Diamond to another appreciative party.\r We did inform her it would be in her best interest to locate another jeweler to work with. In good faith, we incurred 4 hours of CAD design time for this client without a deposit. I found it disheartening when she implied she would basically steal our design and go to another jeweler after the original agreement. Our intentions were never to offend them. However, there is a need for mutual respect in any transaction. more

Wow, Ive been in business for over 35 years, I see some negative comments here and I simply dont believe it, I have nothing but good to say about Gene and Karen, I recommend them to everyone, my son just got engaged and Karen custom designed a stunning solitare for them, these are the most fair, honorable, integrity driven people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with period! I had an experience with a jewelry store named Karats where they switched a 16000 Peter Storm designer ring for a piece or junk 2000 ring on christmas eve of 2011, obviously there are a lot of evil money hungry jewelers out there, needless to say my wife was not happy, when I went to House of Diamonds to trade the ring at 6 PM on christmas eve, I didnt say a word to Karen and Gene about being dupped. I just needed a better ring, Gene knew that something was wrong, I refused to tell him what had happened and where because I was embarassed. He told me!, yes I was the 5th guy that had been taken that christmas by other unethical jewelers.\r Gene and Karen built an unreal baller ring for my wife to prove that all jewelers are not alike. The quality of the ring exceeds that of any Designer ring I have ever purchased or even seen. I would trust Gene and Karen to raise my children. These are quality people, they dont make them any better, and they are artisans as well, they also have the latest high tech equipment the best designer and jewelers in the midwest, im talking from Dallas to Chicago, im talking from experience. I would advise you go in their shop look at the quality under magnification and price of their product then go anywhere else and compare, if you have an eye for quality you will do business at House of Diamonds. Hands Down. And there is no sales pressure, just helpfull friendly staff. You will never go back to a mall or franchished store or anywhere else for jewelry.!!!!!!!!!! David Mance P.S. They always repair all our families jewelry for nothing or nearly nothing, these people understand the words customer satisfaction.!!! Cant believe someone could say a negative word about them, maybe its a competitor? more

Gene was extremely rude and hurt my feeling today. I was able to take the work I needed somewhere else where they told me that Gene was pretty much lying. My mount did not need a new head. They were able to set the stone for way more then half of what another store charge in the same amount of time. They were also very nice and have earned our business for many years along with my trusted jeweler from the MO side.\r \r Shop around; there are many jewelers that do the same work for WAY less.\r \r \r EDIT: 9/7/12 - I was not using this venue to be dishonest. I was coming to share my experience at your store. I did not say that your staff had quoted me at $100. I said that I had called around and that the going rate was around $100. I was able to go and have my stone set for $60 because they took my old ring too, but it would have been just over $100 if I kept it. \r My new jeweler (who btw has been in the business far longer then you.) told me straight to my face that he had no idea what you were talking about replacing the head, because the head and pongs would hold the stone just fine. I got engaged last week, and the ring looks amazing. I took it to a different jeweler to have it checked, and he confirmed it was sturdy. \r What hurt my feeling was the way I was treated and that you implied that my ring was cheap because it would need maintenance. When the truth is that all pave rings lose stone here and there (researched online), requiring maintenance. You left a very bad taste in my mouth and I will let everyone I know looking for a jeweler about my experience. I also feel because you called me a lier, when in fact you are, I should write more reviews warning others. more

Far exceeded my expectations 11/25/2011

I began doing business with HOD based on business reviews with Angie's List, which were all extremely positive. I wouldn't trust just anyone to handling my jewelry. I had been told by another jewelry company (Helzberg on the Plaza) that stones were loose in a bracelet. I was just having them clean it so I had no plans to leave it. I took the bracelet to HOD and Gene, who is the owner, took me to the back shop and placed the jewelry in a vibrating machine and allowed me to look through a large magnifying glass. To my surprise, there were no stones loose. This established a level of trust for me. Later I took 3 wedding sets in to have Karen (Gene's wife) look at -- to see if she could offer any suggestions as to what I could do with them. Being my wedding set, my mother's wedding set and my Grandmother's wedding set, they were all very sentimental to me. Karen immediately came up with an idea, which I loved! As we got closer to making a wax model of the design, she called me in to look at what she had. She had 3 different ideas. While considering my personality, style and tastes, she came up with a slightly different arrangement. I was ecstatic with her design! As the project progressed, Karen kept me posted on the progress. She outlined the costs so that I clearly understood the costs. Never was there any strong, pressured sales pitch. The entire staff made me feel very welcomed and respected. HOD has something very special, and I am thankful for the opportunity to have worked with them. more

House of Diamonds Really is a Gem (sorry) 1/9/2009

After 17 years of wear and tear, I had to redesign my wife's engagement ring. We wanted to incorporate four smaller diamonds and gold from another ring into a custom design. We went to the big famous and fancy store of Kansas City and were told that they wouldn't use our gold, and the price was still shocking. After checking out the reviews here, we went over to House of Diamonds. The people really are very nice and very accommodating. Most of the jewelry in their store is custom made and is beautiful, so we decided to give them a try. The price quoted was far more reasonable, and they gave a credit for the gold salvaged from the other ring. The initial rendition wasn't what we were hoping for, and Karen had absolutely no problem working with our suggestions which were only general in nature. Amazingly, on the second try, she had far exceeded anything we had envisioned. The process was very professional yet friendly, and the finished product just wowed us. I'm really not big into reviews, but when a business meets then exceeds your expectations in every way, you have to give them credit. Pros: Friendly, professional, reasonably priced and high quality Cons: Hard to find until you do more

""Diamonds"" are a girl's bestfriend! 11/13/2008

I have know Gene, Karen and the staff of The House of Diamonds since 2002 and I have always received the best customer service, the finest products and the most fabulous designs for an incredible price. \r \r Gene & Karen are one to get to know their clients. They sit down with you and find out what it is that you want and desire and able to embelish on that idea; ideas that the client may not have thought of, and make the most beautiful and fascinating one-of-a-kind pieces. \r \r A quick story for those of you who have not been to the House of Diamonds, and I am not the only one who has a story of this kind... When Gene was having his Annual Open House, he took some time with me to show me some of his newest pieces, and then asked me to come to one of his other cases to show me something exquisite. It was a single diamond engagement ring and asked ""So what do you think of this?"" Of course, my response was, ""this is the most magnificent diamond I've ever seen."" My boyfriend snuck up behind me at that time and said, ""If you like it, then you'll have to marry me!"" Unbeknownst to me, all 200 people attending knew the proposal was coming, and everyone was waiting for my response... ""YES"" I said with tears in my eyes and a smile as big as Texas. The champagne, cheering, clapping and laughter was flowing! It was the best surprise ever and Gene and his staff made it happen. Mike and I have now been married for 4 years, and we always attend the annual event. You never know what awesome surprises will happen!\r \r Gene designed that ring into my wedding band and I am constantly asked about it. It's a real attention-getter!\r \r I have referred The House of Diamonds to family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances; all of which have given him repetitive business. \r \r The House of Diamonds makes the ""larger"", ""family-owned"", ""been in business for years"" jewelry stores, look small and inefficient. \r \r All I can say, ""The House of Diamonds IS a girl's bestfriend!""\r Pros: Great Results, Good Value, High Integrity Cons: I can't get my jewelry back fast enough to show it off! more

House of Diamonds - I Will Never Recommend This Place 4/8/2008

Just to let everyone know about my experiance with Karen Cullinane owner of House of Diamond. Her service started out to be nice till it came to a point we started negotiating on the price of my fiancee's ring and my ring. My fiance offerred her a price and she agreed. When I went to see the ring again, I offered her my price and told her please see what you can do on the price,if you cant then we will figure something out meaning will make it work some how and try find money to meet her price. Instead, she calls us 2 days later told us she doesnt want to do business with us and sold our diamond that we picked out the best of all to someone else!!!!!! She said she called us one time and couldnt get through, fact was my fiancee went to see her but she is not at work and the next day she sold our diamond!! I will never ever deal with them again as they dont appreciate customers. They dont try to work with you to meet your budget or least if they cant, give you an option on what the best they could do. I am in sales and I do all I can to make my customer happy to see how close I can meet thier budget as I am truly hungry for thier business. But they didnt want to go the extra mile, therefore they lost a good customer. more

I will never forget the AWSOME experience I have had at House of Diamonds and will continue service with them in the future! Pros: Great Friendly Service more
