I order from here at least once a week. Seriously. The food is amazing. Get the chicken Tikka. You won't regret it. Delivery is slow but unfortunately that is the price you pay for using Grubhub. It is always at least an hour before you receive your meal. more

These guys are usually pretty good. I've only had one 'bad' experience and that was being they didn't honor my spiciness request. Otherwise they're usually on time. more

Only place in Downtown for Indian and tastes great 10/2/2008

Took my girlfriend the other night since it was down the block from our apartment and we were craving Indian food and didn't feel like driving to Hollywood or Santa Monica.\r \r I ordered the Roti and Lamb Vindaloo and my girlfriend ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and a side of Basmati rice. Food was great. Vindaloo was nice and spicy and the lamb in it was very tender. The chicken tikka masala was pleasant as well and had a pleasant subtle sweetness. I really can't complain about the roti, it was fresh and did not offend my taste buds.\r \r Price was reasonable and service was very pleasant to us as well. They always gave us a smile when they came by our table and our glasses of water never went bellow the half-way mark. The only disappointment was the decor, which is kind of tacky(but most Indian restaurants are) and after we finished our meal, the waitress wasn't around for us to thank for the meal. Though, I do have to say, I did see a fly around our meal. Hopefully, that's not a regular problem.\r \r This is really a nice little hole in the wall place and the only place around Down Town LA that serves Indian food.\r \r Pros: Food and service are great.\r \r Cons: Decor is a bit lacking and I saw a fly(big woop). more

Decent Indian food but a bit slow for being .4 miles away! Also, they didn't bring me forks or napkins, which was extremely annoying because I had my food delivered to my work!!! Would only order again if I was really craving Indian. more

Authentic 8/14/2007

Although this place is nestled back inside of a seedy hotel, do not be alarmed. The food here is authentic, reasonably priced and perfectly seasoned for the North Indian food connoisseur. The chicken tikka masala is perfectly textured with spice and consistency, it goes great with any of their regular or flavored naan bread. Also, I recommend the tandoori chicken and the samosas are delicious. If it's Indian food in Downtown Los Angeles you are looking for...........look no more. Pros: excellent quality, reasonably priced more

Go, only if you really crave for Indian food 11/28/2006

I have been working in LA downtown for the past 1 year and have visited Gill's, surprisingly the only Indian restaurant in about 3 mile radius of downtown, 3 or 4 times for lunch. I realized the second time itself that they don't change the items on their lunch buffet at all !! so my subsequent visits happened because there was no other choice (indian food). It seemed like just another boring Indian restaurant, kind of like 'also-ran'. Apart from the food begin just above average and customer service below par, one bright aspect was that they vaildate your parking ticket fully for 2 hrs. \r The naan's were good that they bring to the table and also good was the chicken tikka masala. I hate to see and don't understand why so many Indian restaurants serve only the rice kheer for dessert. Probably it's the cheapest to make, not sure. \r I think there should be a sign for customers - 'Thank you, do come again (with a torchlight)' - the interior is so dark and there are no windows. Pros: Quickly accessible in downtown, parking validation, not crowded Cons: Unchanged lunch buffet items, poorly lit interiors, not so pleasing customer service more

excellent 10/2/2003

Glory to Gill's 8/19/2003

Gill's is great. Every time I go to the convention center for a show, my entourage & I end up at Gill's for dinner. For anyone who likes Indian food, Gill's is worth the jaunt downtown, the food is excellent. In a great old building as well. Pros: Food, Building, Downtown more
