I have been working in LA downtown for the past 1 year and have visited Gill's, surprisingly the only Indian restaurant in about 3 mile radius of downtown, 3 or 4 times for lunch. I realized the second time itself that they don't change the items on their lunch buffet at all !! so my subsequent visits happened because there was no other choice (indian food). It seemed like just another boring Indian restaurant, kind of like 'also-ran'. Apart from the food begin just above average and customer service below par, one bright aspect was that they vaildate your parking ticket fully for 2 hrs. \r
The naan's were good that they bring to the table and also good was the chicken tikka masala. I hate to see and don't understand why so many Indian restaurants serve only the rice kheer for dessert. Probably it's the cheapest to make, not sure. \r
I think there should be a sign for customers - 'Thank you, do come again (with a torchlight)' - the interior is so dark and there are no windows.
Pros: Quickly accessible in downtown, parking validation, not crowded
Cons: Unchanged lunch buffet items, poorly lit interiors, not so pleasing customer service
