Worst bar and restaurant scene! 1/12/2005

This place has the worst service and very shady clientele. We made reservations for a party of 25 and there was only room for 13 when we arrived, so most of the guest were still standing while the other half was eating. They hurried us through dinner to make room for a dance floor. This was after 1 month of planning with the restaurant. This place used to be classy and now it is basically a dump. more

DON'T GO HERE 1/15/2004

El Dorado is a loner club on Wilshire and has the audacity to treat patrons like it was a proper club on Sunset. The bouncers kept people waiting outside for over an hour when it was past midnight and not even close to capacity inside! To add insult to injury, there was a line inside to wait to dance...can you believe that? Don't waste your time or money at this place when you can drive a little further and have a much better time hitting up the Room in SM for free! Cons: stupid bouncers, lame scene more

Great Place! 10/9/2003

I thought this place was a lot of fun! I didn't eat dinner her so I'm not sure about the food, but the drinks and dancing were great! They had a DJ in the fornt room playing '80's and other fun dance songs and then the DJ in the back playing R&B and techno. So, it was a good mix of stuff for everyone. El Dorado has definitely seen it's day. Used to be kind of fun, but now it's almost painful to go there. Bad food, bad drinks, bad service, and the clientel is seedy. Don't waste your time. more

ok so over the weekend a bunch of my girlfriends and I go to El Dorado...haven't been there in a while and I don't think I will ever go back! There were absolutely no good looking people there AT ALL. so of course my friends and were being preyed upon by every guy around us. The music SUCKED! It was ultra cheesy. Overall the place just had a bad vibe and stunk like LA trash. Even the service sucked. The bartenders weren't cute and the girls were braty. I will never step foot in that place again! more

Unless you like hanging out with a bunch of short dudes who all wear leather jackets and speak every language except English, I'd skip El Dorado and walk down to Q's. The girls are hotter and drinks are cheaper there anyway. The only good things about this place are the Mojitos, Evan the DJ (but only when he plays house music!) and the lounge area in the back room. Eye candy galore 12/19/2002

I had dinner with friends one Friday night, not realizing that it was the place to be in Brentwood. The food was good but nothing to rave about. At least it was reasonably priced, though the cocktails weren't cheap for the little alcohol that you get. However, as I ate my dinner, one hottie sauntered in after another, like a Parisian fashion show. So guys, if you are looking for a superficially good time, this is place to be. Hahahah...ok I admit that I only come to this place for dancing and cocktails. I haven't had the chow here yet, but it looks apetizing. I do like the little dance joynt they have goin on in the back. It's a fun place, but don't show up with a bunch on ding-a-lings (you know that thing that makes men men...or should I have just said men) trying to get in. Unless you know how to work the door. Some have a problem with this. The kids at the front door tey to keep the girl/boy ratio nice. As with any joynt you go to in the city, regulars get priority and newbies have to be patient. Like the commercial says... ""membership has it's privileges."" If you have a problem with it, stay in the 'burbs. IF you get in you'll be rewarded with some tasty girlflesh and lovely cocktails. Overpriced, underdelivers 9/3/2002

The food was mediocre at best. The service was nice but far from above average. The ambience left a lot to be desired. The drinks were lacking -- especially the flavorless $8 house margaritas. When the bill came, it was equal to most upscale places in the area. Far too many good places to eat -- especially for Mexican -- to waste time here. more

Way to go with the Tamale Bar! 8/19/2002

What an improvement! I hadn't been back to El Dorado in awhile because I did not think the food was that great. I ended up dining w/friends recently--tried the tamales and the pollo mole (incredible). Their home-made salsas are the best in the city. They definitely done some good improvements in the kitchen--I'll be back. more

Although you might have a difficult time getting into this exclusive Brentwood spot, once you pass the velvet rope you are guarenteed a wonderful night! The atmosphere is great, the people are beautiful and vibrant, the music is tasteful, and the bartenders make the best drinks! It's the place to be! Good Dancing . . . Bad Service 7/17/2002

I would say that the El Dorado was fun place to go dancing. I have to agree with the other posts; the service is really bad. The shady bouncer let us know that all the guys in our party needed to tip him in order to get in.(this wouldnt have been that bad, except he let us know this after he let all the girls in our party inside, which was pretty cheap) The waitress/bartender wasnt much better. As a result of me being drunk from all the drinks I ordered, the waitress/bartender refused to continue to serve me drinks unless I provided a sizeable tip up front. The overall cost of tipping to bouncer and bartender for there generous(?) services was pretty insignificant compared to the cost of buying a bunch of drinks. But off principle I dont see myself going back to this place. Pros: Good place to dance Cons: Bad Service more

Calling in advance for reservations doesn't help. I called, was informed that one could walk into the bar, I showed up with a group of 4 couples, was harassed by security#1 who said there was a ""private party"" and had to be invited to get in, while security #2 was letting groups of girls in. Security#2 leans in and says, ok you and your girlfriends can come in, not them pointing at our male companions. Typical of Los Angeles. Very dissapointed. more

I highly recommend reservations for dinner, although not necessarily required. Once you get in, you will be surrounded by beautiful people everywhere. Head to the back room because that is where the action is. Pros: Beautiful people, Drinks, Good music Cons: Bouncer more
