Focus on the Ribs 8/1/2002

This joint has good spare ribs. Focus on that. They have other things (good sides), but this is a rib joint first. Based on this criteria alone, the spare ribs are a 7.5. My scale is critical. Quality joint. Don't come for chicken, ambience, or service. Come for spare ribs. You'll be happy and less whiny. The ribs are properly cooked. Good smoke ring. Pull from the bone. The sauce is not as commercial, as say, a Fatt Matt's or Williamsons. the sauce has a very unique aftertaste that does a very good job of highlighting the spare rib flavor. Pros: Spare Ribs, Black & White Folks, Minimal Yuppies Cons: Some Yuppies more

The BEST EVER 7/26/2002

I can honestly say that Daddy D'z was put on The Food Network for Best BBQ ribs for a reason. They have THE BEST RIBS EVER!!!! I have never had spare ribs that just literaly fall off of the bone before. Not only do they have the best ribs, they have the best BBQ chicken that I have ever had. I only wish that I lived close enough to eat there at least once a week! It is just a hole in the wall, but who cares with food that good! Pros: Food, Food, Food more

Outstanding 7/13/2002

Being two white boys from Indiana, my friend and I felt a tad bit of apprehension walking through the neighborhood to Daddy D'z from Turner Field. It was a trip well worth taken. The ribs were absolutely outstanding. They were smoked almost perfectly, with lots of meat, a little fat, and tons of flavor. The sauce wasn't my favorite in the world, but it was still very good. Don't be fooled by the ""Best Of"" section calling Fat Matt's the best in ATL. Daddy D'z are so much better, it's not even close. more

No question, this is the best BBQ in Atlanta, and Big Daddy himself is never far from mind (know what I mean?). more

Daddy D'z: melting ribs & sweet T'z 5/27/2002

This place has grown on me over the years. I'm picky about my BBQ sauce, and prefer the mustard-based Carolina sauces or thin vinegary ones. This place offers only mild or hot traditional sauces. BUT at this place, the sauce is hardly even a factor when the meat melts in your mouth. The ribs are addictive, huge and meaty. The pork is great. And if you are feeling healthy, get the turkey... it's awesome. From greasy cheese stick eatin', rib & macaroni smaking folks to low carb green beaner & proteinfolk, to veg heads, their is something here for everyone. The sides are tasty and did I mention the sweet tea??? Whooooo-weeee! It washes it all down like nothing else. Please note: this is a bbq shack with bbq attitude. Wear your shorts, roll up your sleeves, and get dirty. mmm!! Pros: come as you are, unpretentious, lip-smacking delish Cons: can get busy at lunch more

Great 'cue 5/14/2002

Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, this is my favorite 'cue place in town. Service with a smile, great pulled pork and ribs, and solid sides. Live music on the weekends gives this place a true roadhouse feel. Pros: Ribs, wide variety, near Turner Field more
