I had a great experience at Cottman's in Durham! They did a fantastic job, despite a recent winter storm. My transmission was slipping and not shifting correctly on my '03 Accord, Honda wanted almost $5000 to replace it. After some research, I learned of a transmission recall for my vehicle. While Honda stated the fix for the recall had been performed in the past, they were unwilling to work with me at all to negotiate down on the price, despite the symptoms of the recall showing up. My fiancee had dealt with Cottman in the past and recommended them. I couldn't be happier! Mark kept me informed, answered every question we had and even took extra time to ensure the transmission was not only fixed, but fixed correctly and completely. Definitely no band aid fixes here, they even warrantied their work for 2 years! Now my car is running great and they did it for half the price of Honda! I definitely recommend Cottman's in Durham for anyone needing repairs! more

My experience with Cottman Transmission Durham first started with my experience with Cottman Transmission VA when my truck broke down in the west Virginia mountains. We were on a family vacation, traveling to visit my elderly father-in-law in KY. It was the eve before Christmas Eve, and of course I had a full truck complete with young kids. We made it to a motel and I found Cottman Transmission in the phone book. I knew they had a shop in NC, so I gave them a call. The gentleman I spoke to was the nicest guy you'd ever hope to meet. He was excellent. I explained my situation and they worked with Enterprise rentals to get us a rental that was just able to hold everything we had with us. The man they sent out to tow our truck had the initials of JC, which of course I thought was great since it was so close to Christmas. During our vacation, they had rebuilt the transmission and were just test driving it when we drove up. It was amazing! Since then, we've gone to Cottman Transmission Durham for all of our service. I'm tickled to death about them and have no qualms about recommending them. I've recommended them to my friends, co-workers and my family. I've taken my son's car there, my mother's car there and of course my car there, which all means that I completely trust them! Mike is the person I usually see when I go there and he is great! If you need anything fixed, he's the one to see! He fixes things so that they run like they're brand new. Fred Bowen at Cottman Transmission Durham runs a great outfit. I've continued to go to him for about seven years and they're great every time. I think they're very courteous. They'll tell you how long it will take and they'll let you know what needs repairing and what doesn't. He's pretty darn honest. I highly recommend him! more

Cottman Transmission Durham rebuilt two transmissions for me, for two different cars. One needed to be tweaked, but I think that's the nature of the beast, isn't it? I thought they had a good understanding of what rebuilding a transmission means and did above satisfactory work, but I think that buyers need to be more informed about the entire process. It would be great if they could really educate customers better and just clear up any confusion among their consumers. more

My experience with Cottman Transmission Durham has been very good. I have used them for years, since about 2003 or 2004, and I have had no problems at all. They have mostly just changed my transmission fluids, but the transmission went out on my truck and they changed that too. It was very good. They give great service, and they know what they are doing when it comes to transmissions. more

We dropped our car of at 8:00 am on Monday, and by 5:30 PM that same Monday, it was done. They rebuilt our transmission in one day and I am driving it now happily. more

It was my first time using Cottman Transmission in Durham, and the customer service was outstanding. The person I spoke with and dealt with was Mike, and he was outstanding. He answered all my questions, and the work was done on time. I couldn't ask for a better experience. They rebuilt the transmission in my wife's Honda. It is now running great. Mike was very polite, very thorough, and answered every question. He followed up with calls to make sure we were satisfied. If more companies had people like Mike, the world would be a better place. more

The service at Cottman Transmission was great; everyone took very good care of me. I had to go back about 5 times, which is why I gave a 1 for total experience. Each time I had to leave my car there, so I would be without my car for a period of time. Everybody did the best they could, but I just had to go back so many times that it wasn't fun. The last time they finally fixed it right. It wasn't very fun, but they took good care of me and made it right. The guys there were very good, and the mechanics and everybody else were really friendly. For that particular shop I would say, and especially about Mike the manager, they have good customer service. Mike really went the extra mile to make sure everything was fine. When I had to go back I expected additional charges or expected them to try to get out of it, but they never did. I am totally satisfied and happy with them. They are a great team, and I would go back if I needed to. more

Cottman Transmission has done a fantastic job. I have had no problems. The price was fair. I had gone to other places and it seemed like the other places were trying to gouge me. I have been to Cottman Transmission several times now. They rebuilt my transmission in my truck, and they service the transmission in my other car. My experience has been very positive. I initially went in with an open mind because I had gone to other places, and you always want to get more than one estimate, but I got exactly what they told me I would get.
