Editorial review from Citysearch 3/26/2013

I've used this factory certified company for years now and each time, they managed to fix my TV or Home Theater system without and any delay and at a reasonable price. They always quoted a price before fixing the item and they never asked for more afterwords like others have in the past. \r \r They last repair they did on my TV was done the same day since they had the part in stock at their shop. \r \r I highly recommend using this company.\r \r Regards, Joe Mc in Cary, NC more

My kids are monsters. Every time I turn around, one of them is playing with something they should be touching. Last week, it was my computer. My son had been using the screen on my laptop as a ramp for his fire truck. Needless to say, I thought I was out of luck when I saw the screen was smashed. I called Consumer Electronic and by the time the weekend rolled around, I had it back in working order. Thank you for saving my computer. Next time the kids strike, I know who I’m calling first. more

Pricey Parts/Incorrect Diagnosis 12/1/2011

My Hitachi LCD is not powering up, because of power surge. Took for a initial diagnosis (45$), They told the Scalar Board is Bad and has to be replaced(Based on internet research, it seems this board is used for taking external inputs and converting digital signals) Total charge parts and labor (Scalar Board: 250$ + Labor 170 ) minus the Initial deposit. Took the Part# for the Scalar Board and searched the Internet with prices ranging from 100-150 with warranty(Original part, Not ebay ones)..Called them back with the information, The CS person said I can get the other board and they will fix it . Also was ready to bring down the Labor Also checked with another Technician, He is saying that the diagnosis might not be correct,Since Scalar Board it not related to Power issues.. Hmm, In the first place the Part price was overcharged..Secondly the CS was taken back when I told him that the same part was available at a lesser cost and he voluntarily agreed to reduce the Labor cost. If I had not taken the trouble to check the part prices, It would have been 400 dollars. Now I am not sure if the basic diagnosis is right Will get back the TV and check with another Technician **Update**** Called today to check on the updated Labor Cost.. Now CS is telling that the Scalar Board cannot be the only problem,Even if the new board is used, There can be other issues which they will have fix... When I asked, if it will Work with Scalar Board/Minor repairs, They are not sure.. Informed I will be picking up my TV and asked for a Refund of 45$ as the diagnosis is not convincing more

Customer Review 6/1/2011

Hello, Yesterday, I called your facility to schedule an in-home service appointment. I spoke with Steve. He was polite and professional. He scheduled a service appointment for today (May 3, 2011) and told me that your service representative would call before his arrival. Tim called me at about 1:45 this afternoon to alert me that he was only a few minutes our 46 inch Samsung LCD TV. Not only did he quickly diagnose the problem...but he was able to fix it on the spot...and I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to us. Beyond fixing our TV -- as Jeff was testing his completed away from my home. He soon arrived and was both very professional and knowledgeable. He quickly diagnosed my television problems and gave me quality information upon which I could make my repair decisions. I feel compelled, based upon my positive reaction to Tim and Steve, to send this message applauding your organization on the quality of your people. Thank you for smoothing the rough edges and making an otherwise unhappy experience much less intimidating. more

Just a quick note to say how much I and my wife valued and appreciated the outstanding work of Jeff this week in fixing our 46 inch Samsung LCD TV. Not only did he quickly diagnose the problem...but he was able to fix it on the spot...and I can't begin to tell you how much that meant to us. Beyond fixing our TV -- as Jeff was testing his completed work, he noticed that our HD picture quality was ""off."" As a result, he took the extra effort to check our Dish Network HDTV settings -- only to find out an incorrect setting that was prohibiting us from seeing a full 1080i picture...which is what we've been paying for of course! I must say, for about six months...since we were obliged to replace our Dish Network HD Receiver...we had actually noticed and commented on how the HD picture quality seemed less than before...but had passed it off to poor transmission quality from the satellites etc. Then of course...along comes Jeff...and within 30 seconds of seeing the HD picture, he made the setting correction...and voila...we're very happy campers. Aside from Jeff's obvious technical expertise, he is undoubtedly the most personable, friendly and engaging technician we've ever experienced in our home. From the moment he rang the doorbell, his appearance and his demeanor exuded both confidence and competence...and we were not disappointed of course. He's quite the Ambassador for CESNC...and a role model for all others who call on customers in their homes. We of course told Jeff how much we enjoyed and appreciated his fine work...but if you'd let him know that we have conveyed our more

Buyer Beware - Stay Away 5/19/2011

DOn't use them. Service tech was in my house for less than 5 minutes.. Did not do anything except turn TV on and tell me it was $60 for the service call and $430 to fix. This Diagnoises was without taking off the back of the TV or removing a single screw. Told me that I needed to replace 2 boards but only 1 is bad. I called the shop and told them I only wanted one board replaced and they would not take the $60 service charge off the lesser $230 repair because they were not making enough money. I do not know how they have stayed in business this long excpet by ripping people off. Use a reputable company it will cost less in the long run more

Terrible customer service 2/18/2011

I dropped off a pair of headphones with a severed cable, all that needed to be done was to solder a new plug on the end. They told me they would call with an estimate the next day, and it would probably be ~$30. Four days later I had not heard from them and called to find out what was going on. They promised they'd get me an estimate the next day. They finally called me (hours after they had promised to call) and wanted $60, twice what they had originally quoted me, so I decided to just fix it myself. I can't comment on the quality of their work but I would warn any potential customers not to trust their estimates of time and cost. I wouldn't have minded paying their exorbitant fee if they at least had decent customer service. more

CAUTION!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY 4/27/2010

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!! I too wish we would have read the comments prior to taking our flat screen T.V. to them! They have had our TV for almost two months and every time my husband calls they say they can't figure out what is wrong with it and they keep replacing parts, at our expense! They told my husband they would get back to him in a few days........ After waiting 2 MORE wks for their call back, I decided I would call. I had to call several times before someone finally answered the phone, however the receptionist said she would have to have the technician call me back., however he never did. I called back the next day and demanded to speak to the technician. When he got on the phone he said they were ""working with the technicians at LG to try to figure out the problem"" and they assured me they will get back to me in a few days.......that was 2 wks ago! I am writing a letter to the BBB tonight! Cons: Rude, don't follow through, don't rtn phone calls etc. etc more

Great service 2/9/2010

I was skeptical after seeing the poor reviews and Samsung placed my warranty work with CES. However, it turned out to be wonderful service. I called Samsung on a Wednesday afternoon for troubleshooting help. Unable to fix the problem over the phone, Samsung said they would place a warranty call to CES. I called CES the next morning and they hadn't received the dispatch yet. CES took care of calling Samsung only to find out Samsung hadn't sent the dispatch. Once CES had the information sent to them, they were at my house that afternoon to troubleshoot. They found the defective board, ordered it and were back the next day to replace it. All went very well. The operator on the phone and both technicians were very friendly and extremely helpful. I couldn't be more satisfied with CES. Pros: Friendly helpful staff, quick results more

Don't Waste Your Time--or Money 11/30/2009

Took TV in and was told I would get a price quote by end of day and it would likely be repaired for around 50 bucks and be ready by Wednesday. I had to put down 20 bucks for them to look at my tv, which I could put towards the balance of repair or lose should I decide the price was too much. I had to call 4 times throughout the week to ask for the price quote and was told each time..""call you back by end of today"". I never got a call. When I called today the manager was smug and rude and now the price was 90 and there were more issues and more repairs. This was a waste of my time and my money. At this point, I cannot in good faith allow them to fix my tv. I asked for my twent back since they fell short on their part of the deal--but it was NO. ""That is policy."" I guess 20 bucks is more important than getting and keeping good business. Cons: Poor customer service, policies more

AVOID COMPLETELY 8/29/2006

I have used this company in the past and I was very disappointed. I had taken my unit in on a Thursday for repair. I was reassured I would get a call in 2-3 business days. I had called to check on the progress of my unit the following Monday. They told me that they still haven't received an estimate. I was concerned, but I left it up to the professionals. So I waited. I finally went in and had spoken to an employee (who was very grungy looking, REAKED of cigarette smoke and had a VERY HORRIBLE attitude) to check on the status of my unit. The employee, who was rather mouthy with me and his behavior was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. What kind of customer service is that?? He treated me like I was an ABSOLUTE IDIOT. I was VERY INSULTED. The Asian man who owns the place is a joke. Every time I had called asking for the owner he was either busy or out of the office. God forbid he had to deal with customers. Or problems of any kind for that matter. Thanks for nothing. Pros: Parking Cons: Customer Service more

Poor technique, not reliable service 8/7/2005

My TV died after I saw blue color sweeping the whole screen. I called the service. The owner came to my house and took the whole electronic parts away. After 3 weeks (he supposed coming back in 4 days) he put the parts back, made TV work. For his coming and fixing I paid $425. He promised that the TV wouldn't have any problem in years. Right after he left, TV showed blue color at corner. I ask him back but he could not diagnose the reason. I called him again and again. but his decision is another $60 for a tube (real reason coursing TV dead). I argued for his ""fixing"" ( he only changed the convergence circuitry) and there is also a warranty for his business said 30 days on labor and parts. He denied following the policy. How can this kind business be trusted?! more

Bad customer service, risky policy 3/5/2004

I have a kenwood KDC-716S car stereo, one with known problems after about a year of use (beyond warranty.) The unit has a flaw in the motor wiring which causes it to fail prematurely. With no warranty, repair or replacement (both at my cost) are the only options. Numerous online review have said it cannot be fixed, but I wanted to know if there were any way to avoid buying a whole new stereo. This place requires $45 to take a look, to diagnose, and give an estimate. They wouldn't even consider the option that it couldn't be fixed (which still seems likely.) Even *if* this were the problem could they fix it? No way they could answer. They wanted to unit and $45 to take a look. I got the classic 'company policy' line. Fine. So I recommend 'consumer policy': places with questionable customer service don't get our business. Cons: , questionable policy more
