Great people and service at Computronics 3/12/2009

People care about customer and offer nice service. They have a lot of equipment for sale too. Free parking. Pros: Great people Cons: None more

WARNING: STAY AWAY! FRAUD, FRAUD, FRAUD 3/10/2009

Bait and switch. Stay away. This place can only be described as a total rip off. Lies about being able to repair and then tries to jack up price. Should be put in jail. more

The good reviews are mostly FAKES, these con-men are EVIL. 3/5/2009

My story is way too long to post in full, but it boils down to this: Jacob Bahar sold me a monitor which included a 90-day warranty, and when I took it home and discovered it was damaged, refused me a refund. There was a LOT more runaround involved, but for the sake of brevity, let's just say I was thoroughly screwed. At this point, I'm considering taking him to small claims court, and I highly recommend all of you out there who've been screwed over by him do the same. Yes, it costs you money, and yes, there is a good chance he'll never pay you. But for every person who does this, it will highly damage his credit rating, hopefully driving him out of business. If you're not up for suing, AT LEAST file a complaint with the (for some reason it won't let me post the name of the association, but it starts with Better and ends with Bureau.) You can do it on-line, it takes minutes, and will also help damage his reputation. Pros: They really know how to rip you off! Cons: (see pros) more

Computronics Lives Up to Their Promises 3/4/2009

I have been told so many times over the phone that someone can repair something, only to find out too late that they are not able to deliver as promised. So, when I called the store the day prior to bringing in my computer for repair and was told they could fix my problem within an hour (Best Buy's repair service was going to take almost 3 weeks), I was very leery and prepared to be disappointed. Not only did they do exactly what they said, but when they were done fixing my problem, Jacob (the owner) called me over to "teach me a few things" that I could do to keep my machine running optimally. Who offers this kind of free education? Wow! Like I'm going to believe that a $12/hour Big Name Computer Store's employee is going to do that? I'd be lucky if that person was even able to find my computer in their back room! The staff was friendly, they returned phone calls with questions I had prior to my visit, and I just never felt like a number. They were also less expensive than any other computer repair shop I had contacted (which I didn't expect since they are located on Wilshire in WLA - high rent district). Their service is well summed up by their email address: fixittoday! Thank you to everyone over at Computronics for making a potenially miserable situation simple. Pros: Friendly, speedy turnaround Cons: Store could be better organized/cluttered more

Forget GeekSquad! This "mom & pop" shop Rocks! 2/22/2009

I can't say enough good stuff about Computronics! I'd been to Geek Squad prior to this, and after two weeks of having [and losing] my tower, they concluded that they couldn't fix it. Jacob was a delight to work with. He quickly found the problem and fixed it within a day. This store is rare in that they seem to understand how debilitating it can be without your computer, so they work to get it back to you quickly. Last week we took my laptop in, and once again, he promised and delivered quick service. My husband and I went and had lunch, ran a couple of errands and had it back in hand within a few hours. Jacob and crew are friendly, responsive, helpful and have never suggested we buy other stuff that we don't need. I also sent a friend who went in convinced he needed a new fan, but as it turned out, it only needed cleaning and that's all they did! We'll never go elsewhere! :o) Pros: Personable, fast + reliable. Cons: A long way for me to drive. more

Great Place. Ask for Jacob or George. 1/26/2009

First time using a commerical computer repair place. Usually my nephew does it, but he was busy. Jacob was fair (he kept to his estimate). Service was friendly. Parking validated. Easy access on Westside of LA. Fast. Only recommendation: know what's wrong or what you want fixed before you go in - just like a car mechanic. In order to know that, you either have to know something about computers yourself, or know someone who does who can diagnose for you. Get the diagnosis on your own first if you can. Save $. I only would have found this place because there was a double-page ad in the Verizon yellow pages. Old people still use yellow pages, and I recommend all vendors to still buy ad space. Even in a depressed economy, yellow pages still work. Pros: Parking, service Cons: Have a diagnosis before you come in. more

How Computronics Helped my UCLA Extension On-Line Course 1/2/2009

Dear Computer Users, Please consider Computronics for all your electronic needs. I was enrolled in my first on-line course at UCLA Extension (Fall Quarter 2008) and Jacob and his staff were able to respond immediately with a used computer system rental for the quarter only. I could have had whatever system I wanted, but Jacob recommended a Tower and flat screen monitor only. He knew precisely what software would be required for the distance on-line learning at UCLA Extension. It was running at my place in Oxnard with only one or two more phone calls to the Brentwood store and the whole process was completed by the weekend. Originally I had believed any delay would have hurt my chances to complete the coursework at UCLA Extension. As it turned out, the professor was so delighted with my confidence and the content I quoted from media sources outside LA County in my discussion and assignments that I received an "A" in the on-line class !!! In the second example, I was able to rent an HDTV to entertain my visiting relatives in Oxnard. I wasn't sure about what type of equipment would work on Verizon FIOS but Jacob was able to provide a rental of a really nice 26 inch model which is hard to find now. My girlfriend was so delighted with the compact size of the unit that she took it home for herself and now my Christmas gift list was done! Jacob was able to convert the rental agreement into a purchase agreement and somehow my worries were once again over... Thank you Computronics Pros: Timely Service on Walk in Basis, Responsive more

Real People Who Care Will Fix Your Computer 12/30/2008

What a great experience! I called on Saturday, made an appointment for Sunday, which is when I dropped off my iBook and it was ready Monday. The repair required micro soldering skills on the logic board and it was done without a hitch. And it came in at the estimate! My laptop is up and running! I will definitely return! Pros: Fast, professional service. Cons: Lacks nice, big parking lot. more

Worst computer store ever 11/29/2008

This place is awful. Do not take your computer there. The problem with the laptop was that the computer would not work properly with the ac adapter. They claimed they had fixed it. They did not. I brought it home - only to realize the computer did not work properly. I brought it back and they said they would fix it properly the second time. They failed again. On top of that, they broke the springs on the latch that locks when you close the laptop. That means they were slamming the computer shut. After an hour of arguing (which included both the owner and his wife giving contradictory stories about the latch - one said it came in broken while they other said that there are no springs on the latch) and pointing out that they were lying to me, they agreed to to order the part and fix it. They did not. They even signed paperwork agreeing that they broke latch and they still did not fix it. They also left four screws out of the bottom of the computer. At first, they tried to deny doing it as well, both when I showed them the holes that were missing screws, they could not deny it. They also had the nerve to put multiple stickers advertising their store on my computer without my permission. If you take a computer there, you're a fool. Pros: None Cons: Knowledge, ability, customer service more

Absolutely Criminal 7/30/2008

These people are absolutely dishonest, unprofessional and down right criminal. They said from the problems I was having with my laptop, that the backlight needed replaced. They could turn that around in 24 hours. So....I took my computer in and paid the intial $75. Hours later I was told over the phone that the "real" problem was the inverter. So...I went back to download some needed documents before they did the rest of the work. When I saw my computer, after having left it with them for just 2 hours and only an authorized "estimate" NO work had been authorized......I was stunned. It was clear that they took a screwdriver and pryed the metal trim away from my LCD screen. It was completely twisted and bent beyond repair with huge chunks of paint missing. I lost and said, "You completely #*&%#-ed up my computer! How are you going to make that look factory-new again? I was told...."Look. There are no screws in this screen. How did you expect us to get behind it to fix the backlight?". I told him that if he was a REAL COMPAQ expert, he would have been familiar with ALL models andunderstand how they were put together. I got my documents downloaded. He then told me I'd need to pay to have the inverter "rushed" because he didn't have one on site. I paid over $250 up front...even before the work was done. Not surprisingly, I got another call. This time he said it was the "mother board". I told him to forget it. When I went in, I at least had a computer that functioned. They found some trim from a computer scrap heap to put around the front of the monitor. Now...my computer doesn't work at all. I'm considering small claims court. PLEASE stay away from these people. I really believe I was robbed in every sense of the word. more

SCAMMERS - ALL THESE REVIEWS WERE WRITTEN BY ASSOCIATES 6/8/2008

These guys are crooks and scammers. Watch out for all these reviews that were written by the associates. This guy gave me a quote, and then he said to wait for few weeks. Later called my home and cursed me and said so many F words just because I said I do not want to have it repaired anymore. BE CAREFUL AND NEVER DEAL WITH THESE CROOKS !! REPORTED TO B B B. THESE MIDDLE EASTERN CROOKS SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS. Pros: NONE Cons: AVOID AVOID AVOID SCAMMERS more

THE BEST COMPUTER "NEUROSURGEONS" AROUND! 5/19/2008

My company relies on 5 major computers, each of which do specified tasks unique to the structure/drivers/programs. So when any of them crash, it's always a disaster, no matter HOW many times the info has been backed up. My LIFE, (literally, the CEREBRAL part of my brain and my input), is also stored and works in process on these computers. So when they break, my LIFE, (and the life of my company), is in peril. Jacob is the patient Doctor at COMPUTRONICS who jump starts and fixes bad wiring and ...does amazing things...fortunately, he doesn't charge like a neurosurgeon. The only bummer is, I had a meltdown last Friday and tried to call the number I've memorized, (310-444-4444, like so "duh" easy!!!), and ended up talking to a cab company. It took a while but I found Jacob again. THANK GOD! We're back in business again! Pros: From old PCs to the latest greatest laptops, they've got you covered. Cons: No "on site" service. more
