I don't eat here very often just because I'm not huge into Indian food, but when I do, it's always delicious! The staff is friendly and the food is really good, and the atmosphere...

Good Chicken Tikka Masala 8/2/2011

The flavor of the chicken tikka masala was very good. They were able to tone downt he spice for me without the curry seeming like it was less flavorful. Also the portions are generous for the price. more

Yummy tandoori wraps 7/4/2007

Delicious and simple indian food. Chaat, wraps and simmered dishes all for under 8-10 bucks. Lots of food, and spicy the way it should be. more

Quick and yummy Indian! 12/7/2006

I don't eat here very often just because I'm not huge into Indian food, but when I do, it's always delicious! The staff is friendly and the food is really good, and the atmosphere is casual. You can go there by yourself and sit to the side on a stool with your laptop (they have WIFi) or come with a few people and get a booth. It's a nice place for people trying out Indian for the first time, or people who like to have it everday since it's so reasonable! Pros: food, WiFi, service Cons: small--can get crowded more

Great Lunch 5/11/2005

Chaat Cafe is becoming my favorite lunch destination. It's best to wait until noon to go as the high schoolers have moved on by then. The wraps make a delicious, filling lunch and most are priced between $5-$6. If the spice is too heavy try a mango lassi which helps cool the palate. The staff is fast and friendly. Pros: wraps, mango lassi more

best lunch in berkeley 5/9/2005

Chaat is the best lunch spot in berkeley. You can find a number of great low-priced options. The delicious tandoori wraps seem to be their claim to fame, but the daily specials are my recommendation. They make a different special everyday including some curries and some tandoori dishes. The tandoori salmon on fridays is to die for and only $7.99 for a full lunch including rice, garlic naan and a small side of dal. Pros: food, prices, friendly service more

Yum... 9/22/2003

Very good Indian food. Casual setting with helpful and friendly staff. The stuffed naans are terrific. Strawberry Lassi (smoothie) is good. Been to three locations and they were all good. Pros: Cheap, Clean, Tasty Cons: Parking Tickets more

Really Really Good 5/16/2003

The wraps are awesome. I have never liked Indian food, but ever since my friend took me to the chaat cafe I've been hooked. Pros: Great Food, Cheap more

Chicken Wraps 4/1/2003

I highly recommend the chicken wrap! It is absolutely delicious. The curries are good too! Great when you want top-rate indian food at inexpensive prices. more

Great Find 1/21/2003

Great Food and friendly staff make this place a great find. Berkeley has become so congested with indian restaurants, many of them very bad, but this one is a gem. The wraps are fantastic and the naan in general is the best I've had. I've tried all the famous Indian restaurants in the bay area Vic's, Breads of INdia, Naan n'curry, ajanta, Cafe Raj, but Chaat Cafe has the best overall experience and is consistently good! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, fast service Cons: Parking, long lines at lunch more

We LOVE this place!! 1/17/2003

We love this place!!! We have taken many friends here and the food is consistently good and the service always friendly and efficient. The menu isn't as extensive as other Indian restaurants but we (or friends) have tried almost everything on the menu. There are daily lunch/dinner specials with a vegetarian choice and a non-vegetarian choice. There are about 10-12 different chaat (appetizers) from pakora, samosas, mini poori. The veggie wrap is excellent. (There are meat wraps as well) There are several different naan breads to choose from including onion, garlic and pesto. They have tasty daal soup. The food is mild to medium spicy (the way I like it) I'm not sure if the hot, spicy fan would find this food exciting enough. The biggest problem we have encountered is ordering so many dishes that we run out of room on the ample size tables! Pros: Great food!, Friendly & efficient, Comfy setting Cons: Parking may be hard. more
