Awesome Place 7/14/2011

I walk in this place and it overwhelms me, not in a bad way, but the wooden floors with the ceiling to floor books just brings you back to a different time, I love going there, love the smell of the old books just waiting to be read again, usually dont have any idea of what book I want just an idea of a subject matter, one conversation with the staff and you are quickly brought to the exact kind of books that interest you, I never did the book exchange cause I typically like to read them more than once, LOVE this PLACE!! Repeat shopper more

Bent Pages great indie bookstore 10/24/2010

The fun, quirky personalities of the staff here only add to the charm of this wonderful little indie bookstore, where autograph sessions are a blast. This ain't BooksAMillion, Dorothy, and be glad of it. more

Twilighter! 9/16/2009

The food is great, and the selection is above average!! The experience is heightened by the store owners. These laidies are a RIOT, Genuine Locals to the colorful town of Houma, LA!! These women are experts at their craft and will tell it to you straight!! If you don't like it, you can pay more money at Books a Million, aka "Books cost a Million!" more

unhappy reader 6/8/2009

I've never walked into a more cluttered place. That wouldn't be so bad if the women who worked there weren't so rude. Will never go back, won't recommend, will tell people not to waste their time. I rather pay full price at Books-a-million. more

Bent Pages 10/30/2006

I already reviewed this business several months ago, but I will give it another whirl. Bent Pages is Houma's used bookstore. They buy books at 25% of the cover cost, then sell back for 50% of the cover cost. Bent Pages is more than just a bunch of used books thrown around, the books are well sorted and can be easily to access whatever book you desire. Also they give store credit for the books you sell to them. Bent Pages can also order any book you need that they don't care, but you will have to pay new book prices. Bent Pages is also now a premiere coffee house serving some of the finest coffees in Houma. more

Bent pages, great place for used kids' books 9/26/2006

My kid sister is just now starting to read at the age of 10 due to her disabilities. For the longest time she said reading would give her a headache, we are unsure if the stress of getting the words wrong was the cause or the simple fact that she was not remembering the words. In either case, the child has now found out that reading isn't suppose to cause headaches and she is on fire. She's reading all the easy readers Mom can find, but at 2.50 or more per book, Mom is going bankrupt fast. So Mom has been going back and forth between work and life to Bent Pages, buying the kid sister books at a discount, selling back the used books for instore credit, and everyone is happy. Best part of this, I don't have to hear Mom grip because she forgot to return the darn library books. I have used Bent Pages for my required readings in school and the prices are like 50% or more off of the retail prices that the stores are charging. It's a great deal for everyone whether they are 2 or 102, if reading is thier game, Bent Pages is the place to be. They are located on Barrow Street near the water processing plant. more

Bent pages is the place to be.. 8/4/2006

For book lovers at heart, you know the diehard readers who are always reading books. This place rocks, they will buy your used books at 25% of the cover price and give you a store credit, which can be used to purchase books that are discounted throughout the store. The staff is very knowledgeable and the books are organized into areas so it makes the hunt for that perfect book so much easier. Whether one is looking for a how-to book on crafts, a romantic novel or a book based on the history of the United States, I suggest that one start here. And if the book is not in stock at a used price, they can offer the book at less than retail costs. My youngest daughter loves to read, but with her being so delayed in school we have to use the easy readers for her, and the prices in the larger book and discount stores is outrageous for a storybook that might only have 20 pages inside. Bent Pages, with the discounted prices on thier used books offers me the opportunity to several books at one time, thus giving us more to work with for my daughter and saving me the time to hunt for these books at the larger store. Bent Pages also comes in handy for my older children who attend junior high and high school with the reading lists of novels which are to be read during each semester. It saves me the hunt and that extra money is not wasted on a book these kids will never read again. I highly recommend Bent Pages for all of your book needs. more

small business is great!! 10/1/2005

This book store is wonderful. The friendly, welcoming atmosphere keeps you going back for more. The trade-in book deal is wonderful. The workers are extremely knowledgable on books of various genres. They never steer you to a bad read. more

Quaint Place to find Used Books 8/14/2005

This place should be your last stop to find all kinds of books you want. You can also buy, sell and trade books and other items here. The people who work there are really laid back and easy going, they don't expect you to buy anything and you don't really feel any pressure to do so. Just take a stroll down the aisles and look at all the old books and take in their old smell which is so familiar and wonderful to all of you bookworms out there! Bent pages is nice place to get away to for a quiet afternoon of just relaxing and browsing without having to worry about being hounded for a sale. It is a lot smaller and more intimate than the libraries or the giant chain bookstores we have in town. more
