Juan is the best, he is great at what he does! I've been going to Juan for years... I currently a bleach blonde and Juan always takes care of my hair considering its bleach. I always leave Black and White Salon feeling like a star. My hair never feels damaged when he does my hair. Not alot of stylist know how to work with bleach and they will fry your hair and damage it. Juan knows exactly what he is doing and uses his own treatments that restore your hair as if it was never dyed. I will contunie going to Black and White Salon! The communte is worth it, I live in Downey a litte far from Hollywood thats how amazing he is, I don't mind the drive. more

Black and Whites beauty salon is the best place to get any of your hair needs, you might have. haircuts, extensions etc.. anything you want Juan Can do it. I love getting my haircut with Juan hes been cutting my hair for over 15 years. Every time i get my haircut I am beyond pleased. Ill ask him to give me a new style and he always pleasantly surprises me. I am always happy with the end result. I only get my haircut with Juan He is the best in Hollywood. The salon is beautiful inside. You will be very pleased i wouldn't recommend any other salon. more

Today I went to Juan over at Black and White as I have every month for ten years now since I moved here to L.A. I went to him initially cause I have ""different/ethnic"" hair and ended up finding a friend for life. Though you wouldn't know it from the outside, this place is beautiful. I have never not gotten an amazing haircut. The atmosphere is like home, full of people of different colors and ages. It is LA at its best. Juan and his staff really care about what you want and he is VERY affordable. If I could write it in the sky I would as this is the place YOU SHOULD GO!! more

I know Juan since i was 19 years old so i known him for 20 years his being the greatest stylest guy that i know i will never change him for no one else his the best of these world to me, as a hair stile and as a friend also.. more

The thing that i love about Back & White is that you get exactly what you want. It had been a long time that I had been contemplating getting short bangs and finally i ran into a picture of how i wanted my bangs. I went to Black and White and they gave me exactly what i wanted, exactly what was on the picture, no more no less. They will do what you want. The prices are very affordable considering the area. We discovered Black and White a few months back and we keep coming back and leave satisfied every time. I totally recommend it!! more

I truly enjoy my Black and While Salon experience every time! Juan provides me with an amazing consistency that never disappoints. I have gotten my hair cut different lengths and styles and I have always been satisfied with the results. He has a great eye and is honest with me, about my choices, and throws in helpful suggestions. I think my favorite part, aside from the great results, is the shampoo and conditioning because he massages my scalp giving me a great papering and relaxation period. The black and white salon is an asset to Hollywood and for the regular girl who wants to feel the glamour of getting a pro cut and style! more

I have been all over Hollywood with different places to get cut - Black and White has a very charming welcoming energy... Always nice when you want to get pampered and enjoy yourself. the staff is very nice and the location is clean... It is conveniently located for me living in the 90028 and i highly reccomend you go in and see for yourself. i was pleased with the fresh fruit the manager had there for his patrons... As I waited I got to watch a cool hollywood film on the flatscreen in the waiting area... Thanks Black and White! more

As a african american woman i went into black and white hair salon and believe that it was the best experience ever. I told the hispanic hairdresser what i wanted in a detailed form and got what i asked for. He put the relaxer on my hair and voila!! I think that to get a great experience in any hair salon your supposed to explain clearly what you want. I had a great experience and therefore i recommend highly this hair salon to anyone, and to any race. Pros: Best Hairdresser more

Juan is the best stylist that I've had the pleasure of meeting...I first met him when my Mom used to take me there as a child (late 80's). Now, my wife and friends know why he has been in business for so long. Absolutely the BEST. Pros: My hair is shinnier and grows faster than ever! Cons: Long drive, but, worth it. more

Or lesson learned: Call first and ask for what you want. I just moved here to Los Angeles and being an African American Woman, I need the small things in life. Like a relaxer for my hair. So a google search under African American Salons Los Angeles landed me to Beauty Salon Black & White. Even my husband (who is Caucassion) informed me that he saw the place as it was close to the post office that screams in its windows ""Black and White Hair"" So I call the place. It is a man with an insanely thick accent. In a very professional chirpy voice I say ""Good Morning, I was checking to see if you do African American Relaxers"" After what seemed to be forever (probably looking through the English Translation Dictionary) he stammered...oh no...oh no, no no... I said thank you and hung up. I guess I'm writing this not because they were mean (he really wasn't).. I'm just writing this to inform anybody looking to get their hair done who happens to be African American with special hair care needs like relaxers and pressings that this listing was put in the wrong place, and apparently the signs in their windows are from the last owners. I hope I save you the time of going there and the money of calling. Pros: Someone picked up the phone Cons: They cannot do what they claim. more

when I walked in I asked the barbar can you cut my hair (me being african american) and was told yes ! First they washed my hair which is a big no no but i asked the shampoo guy(who is black) if other blacks come in and he said sure they know what there doing than half way thru the cut the barbar stopped and said something in spanish and the owner had to continue. I have poor vision and put on my glasses and told them to just cut the whole thing off after they did that i got home and put on my contacts(better vision with those) and saw patches of hair all over my head and this after giving them a five dollar tip. If this was an honorable business the manager would have not charged me a thing. I usually go to crenshaw or inglewood for haircuts and there are no problems but they really screwed up my hair here and pretended it was my fault !!!!!! They kept saying you have irritation we dont want to cut over that but as i stated, in the hood i ve never had any problems and from this point on no more being lazy its back to crenshaw district for a cut !!!!! more
