The internet is the consumers best friend...This is the quintessential spike the cost or bait and switch automotive service center. Here?s the scenario?an electric connector piece has corroded and broken. As I directed them to the exact problem? This is a small piece keeping the fuel pump powered and needs to be replaced. You cannot buy it new so I went myself to get the piece from a SALVAGE YARD they arranged for ME to pick it up at. They billed Hunt?s for the part. Work gets done and I get the bill. Hours for labor is pretty accurate?.but wait! I am being charged, the never discussed, $70 for a small salvage yard electrical piece. I called around to see what salvage yards would charge and it averaged around $5 to $10 retail. I?m confident that they would get better pricing being an automotive repair shop. After they saw the look on my face and my comment about charging me $70 for a salvage yard piece of wire, he did me the ?great? favor of charging me $50. GREAT! That?s now only a 1000% mark up! (is my math right?)for a piece I went and picked up myself?ok Hunt?s ?here?s your $70 for a parts that cost you guys around $5?I don?t mind paying labor and a REASONABLE mark up on parts?but you just lost a long term customer that has 2 dated cars that need to be maintained...You would have made a lot more money than $70 by having me around as a long term customer. Good Luck! ...one customer down and few more to go before your shut down...
