I've been going to nubest for the past 10 years and every time I leave, I truly feel like a million dollars. The upscale location, the drive and everything is perfect and convenient for me. I always get my haircuts with Lenny and my hair styled with Mervot, for special occasions, and each time I leave extremely satisfied. Nubest is truly the best, says it in their name. Not to mention the salon is very clean and the staff is very professional. Love, love, love nubest, can't wait to see what they have coming their way next! more

I had been searching high and low for someone to go to for a great haircut. I have been to many salons and I usually leave disappointed especially when I explain exactly what I am looking for. I received a birthday gift certificate to nubest salon in Long Island so I tried their haircut. I saw Vincent and I am so glad I found him. He is extremely professional and friendly and I now see him regularly. I could talk to him for hours! The atmosphere in the salon is warm, upbeat and inviting. The staff is great. I absolutely love coming here. Its worth the trip from the city. more

NuBest just gets it right. My colorist knows what to do and when. The owner, Michael, gives the best haircuts. And when I have a special occasion, I get my hair blown out and I look and feel fabulous. NuBest is crowded for a reason. more

Nubest is the BEST! I received a giftcard and used it to get my hair styled. I never been to the salon but always heard good things so I was excited to go.\r \r It was super easy getting an appointment, the staff was super kind when greeted, I met with my stylist, and talked about my hair, my lifestyle and what would work for me. I brought some images with me, and I was extremely impressed, because my stylist was not scissor happy, and ready to cut into my hair. \r \r The assistant was very sweet, she did an amazing blow-out and what I liked, she showed me how to blow it myself and correctly hold the brush - that's always the hard part. I was impressed!\r \r The salon is very upscale, very clean, I swear, I didn't see one\r speck of hair anywhere, or anything messy. The staff really interacts with each other and they all seem like very talented professional people. \r \r I even got a free holiday travel set-thought that was also very kind.\r \r I love my cut, and I had a great time, I still have some money left on my gift card so I booked a nail appt. \r \r It's like being in Manhattan without the train ride!\r \r more

Nubest is a beautiful Salon. Most of the staff are nice. I have found one of the front desk people to be rather rude. I have gotten about 4 haircuts by the owner Michael. Michael is FABULOUS at cutting my hair. One of the top 3 people who has ever cut my hair in my lifetime. However, he is engaged in constant conversation with employees who stop by to greet and kiss him, and little focus on me the customer. My last haircut was a miserable experience. He started to yell at his assistant and chewed her out repeatedly during my haircut. I was mortified and horrified at his humiliating his assistant in public. I felt helpless to do anything. I made the assistant feel worse by asking if she was okay when Michael was out of earshot. HE spends a lot of time speaking to everyone BUT me, the customer-Junior staff stop by and hug and kiss him throughout my haircut.,every time. The only reason I am going back ,at least for one more haircut, is because he cuts my hair so beautifully.Despite his constant conversing with others, which is rude to me, his customer, he never lost focus on my Hair or Haircut, which was fabulous. I have been using him for under a year,and he is one his 3rd assistant in this time. Please , Nubest, if you are readin this, can you speak to Michael? I drive quite a distance to have him cut my hair because he is THAT good ,but it is a miserable experience watching someone else humiliated and berated in front of me. Surely he can pull aside the assistant and privately tell her anything he needs to out of earshot of the customer. more

I just recently started going to NuBest Salon and I couldn't be more satisfied with the services. I've been getting so many compliments on my hair ever since I got it done by Jamie Mazzei. They also have eyebrow threading and I wouldn't go back to waxing or to anyone else ever again! I HIGHLY recommend this place! more

Brought pictures with me to show stylist what I wanted. My hair was all one length after waiting a year to cut. Stylist ignored everything I said, told me to LET HIM DO WHAT HE DOES. Well, he lopped off the front of my hair, BURNED my hair when drying it and when I got home, I was in tears. I couldnt put a comb thru the burned hair. The front of my hair stuck up like a rooster. This, after waiting a year for the haircut of my dreams. My son gave me a gift cert to Nubest for Christmas. What a waste of money that was. I wrote them a letter which went unanswered. I emailed their PR person, who passed along a message to the manager. She asked me to call. After I told her that I was not satisfied, she said that they would not refund the $65 I paid for just the haircut portion of the bill. I spent $100 there but only asked to be refunded for haircut. She refused, said its not their policy. Beware. They DO NOT stand behind their product. There is no customer satisfaction. What you see is what you get, no remorse, they dont care. I WILL NEVER SET FOOT IN A PLACE LIKE THIS AGAIN for as long as I live. more

I recently went to nubest for the first time. One of my good friends recommended that I get my hair cut by Stacy. It was one of the best hair cuts I've ever gotten! Stacy was also the sweetest person. She has a great attitude and was really helpful in helping me find the right hair cut for me! The receptionist were also very helpful in getteing me where I had to go. Great atmosphere. Beautiful salon. i will definetly be returning to nubest. more

I called to make an appointment for a Brazilian keratin treatment to tame my frizzy curly hair. the receptionist asked that I first come in for a consultation, which i did and was told by Merryl i was the perfect candidate. I had the treatment done by Merryl, who when i got there told me she needs to do a different treatment then the one she original thought would work. after spending $300.00 for the treatment, $40.00 for special shampoo and $60.00 tip and 3 hours of my time i had straight hair that i could not wash for 4 days. before i even washed my hair it was frizzing. when i washed my hair it was just as frizzy but a little less curly then when i first walked into the salon. I called and was told this never happens and to come back and they will fix it. I reluctantly went back and they were not very nice. Lisa, the manager, thought i was coming for a first time treatment. Merryl kept saying she did not understand this, but guarantees her work. well, after 3 hours and leaving a $40.00 tip i left again with straight hair, but after washing was left with a frizzy mess! when i called and said i want my money back i was told it was not their policy and they would give me a credit for another treatment or products. I told them i would not let anyone in their salon come near my hair again and i feel since i did not get what i paid for they should give me my money back. They refused! I will see them in court. Ive been going to my stylist, Karina, for over 10 years. She has been nothing less than phenomenal. She makes me feel like a million dollars everytime I leave the salon. She recently cut my hair shorter than I normally have had it in the past and I LOVE it!! People ask me all the time who does my hair and I tell them to see Karina. Not only is she friendly and efficient, but she always gives great ideas on cutting, styling your hair. She makes it look easy. Call me crazy, but I honestly dont let anyone else but Karina near my hair! I can't say enough great things about her. I also see Christian for coloring and he is fantastic. My hair always looks beautiful and the staff respect the quality of his work. Lastly, Charles and Anna do beautiful work in the make-up department. What more can I say? nuBest salon and spa is the ultimate salon and spa experience that new york has to offer. i was thoroughly satisfied every step of the way -- from calling to make my appointment, to getting out of the stylist's chair! the ladies at the front desk were extremely helpful and accommodating, and managed to fit me in during a busy saturday afternoon at short notice! i got my hair cut and styled by heather, who was extremely sweet (and who i highly recommend), and my eyebrows threaded by rahima (who is also amazing). the salon is gorgeous, spacious, bright and clean. i cannot wait to go back for my next appointment! I've been going to Nubest for over 5yrs. There are some services they are good for, some they're great for and others I don't recommend at all! COLOR: Yes, that one guy everyone refers to is a diva and he is actually very talented; when he's working for a fashion shoot or magazine that is. Only if he would bring that talent to the chair for his non-celebrity clients. I used to get my hair colored there, but although the colorist was a nice person, she was very very inconsistent. Sometimes I'd walk out with my dream hair color, then other times she couldn't remember what she did the time before that looked so good. CUTS: I recommend Leonard. He's talented, does exactly what you ask, is friendly, funny, and thorough. He does not give you the 2minute haircut some other people do. He actually takes his time. I've never had a cut with Vincent (one of the owners), though his clients always seems to have happy. I've also noticed that he's a perfectionist. Facials: Jeanette is fantastic! A bit of pain, but if you go for facials to clean up, she's your gal! Nails: I go there because they're clean as opposed to the local asian places we have here.... They're all quite good. Their spa services are actually really nice..and not dreadfully as expensive as some of the other places on LI. They also have valet parking...yes, that's correct valet parking. It's the North Shore, do you really expect us to park our own cars?! LOL... It's free, but it's always polite to tip :) No but seriously it's because parking is tight there and if you park in the wrong lot, you might get a ticket. It's trial and error really as well as finding someone in each part of their service who can give you what you want. There's a lot of staff members and each one has different personalities, it's key to find a colorist or stylist who is in tune with you and what you want. Obviously there is some great talent there because they do have happy clients and have been around for so long. They are the elite place on the North Shore of LI; though as with ANY place (elite or not) , there's a few not so talented people. If you're patient, try a few diff ppl.. talk to the receptionists and get feed back on who they recommend. They're there and see the handy work all the time. If I want something specific, take in pictures. Also, If you're not happy speak up!...You're paying for it! Don't pay for what you didn't want, walk out then be upset.... They don't seem to acknowledge Asians as much. You have to walk in there looking as if you're rich, if not, they will totally ignore you. It's weird. They give great haircuts but they come off pretty rude and picky on who to help. The service could use some work. So if you're interested in really great funky, awesome, trendy haircuts and don't mind being treated like you're poor, then this is the place for you. But once they've realized that you keep coming back then that's when they are nice to you. They act like I can't afford this place. Give me a break. On Thursday July 3rd I received my very first Brazilian Keratin Treatment at Nubest by Meryle. My hair WAS very curly, poofy, frizzy and unmanageable, unless I spent 1 1/2 hours blowdrying and flat ironing to then step out in the rain or humidity and have all my hard work appear as if it never happened. Jealous of going to the gym and see girls blowdry their hair in top speed while I applied gel and stuck my hair in a pony tail, I made the leap of faith. I shelled out $400 and another $68 for dusting (a Nubest specialty) and spent 4 days at home in the a.c. anxiously and skeptically waiting for the day I could wash my hair. Last night I finally washed it and blew dry my hair in under 15 minutes! I cant describe the freedom I feel now, my over processed hair is smooth and shinnier and soooo soft! I just went to Nubest this weekend to get a brazilian wax. I had an appointment but I was kept waiting for 20 minutes. First of all, true brazilian waxes are supposed to be done with stripless wax, here they used strips. It was rather uncomfortable because they had me basically put my legs over my head. After I left I was in a lot of pain, even though I have been getting brazilian waxes regularly for over four years. I went home and realized that my skin has been severely burned and my top layer of skin was ripped off. Now a few days later my skin is peeling. But the worst part is after all that, a lot of hairs were left behind! more

I scheduled for an appt for my hair to be blown out for my college graduation and I had Stacy. Let me say that this girl never even say hello when she came to me. She had an attitude like ""what the hell do you want done?"" I am dead serious. The whole time she was blowing out my hair she was watching other people working. I made a comment that she burnt my scalp and paid more attention. So, the service was horrible. But, the hair washing staff were wonderfully nice.
