I've been going to Nubest off and on for 20 years-sometimes I'm not sure why I keep going back-I guess its bc there are a number of really talented people there who can give you a great cut-\r color has been ok-nothing out of the ordinary-I also have had an uneven experience with getting my hair straightenned there-sometimes it was great and other times lousy(same person).\r If you want a nice, comfy, personal experience DO NOT GO to Nubest-if you don't mind the unfriendly, sometimes intimidating atmosphere( I view it as a challenge(lol), it can be a great place for a terrific haircut. You just have to keep your eye on the goal there-you'll most likely walk out looking better than when you walked in. I have been going to Nubest for 17 years. I had a benign brain tumor at 23 and I went there after I had grown some hair back, but I still had an uneven and HUGE scar on my head. The owner was so nice to me, and even though the place was busy he gave me a corner where I wouldn't be looked at too much. He evened out my hair that day, and I went every 6 weeks for a short haircut until it was even and looked better. He gave me a cut that covered my scar nicely. He was great, and so are many of his employees who work there. I have been ""cut"" by many of the people there, and let me tell you, they only hire people who know how to cut hair! The same goes for coloring. Eventually, I was able to start coloring my hair ( I had premature grey), and I go every month, to their fabulous coloring department. I usually only go to one person, but when she is not there, I trust others to color me, because they are organized (they have my color on file) and well trained.\r I know that the place is crowded at times (especially before holidays), but I have never experienced anything that the others posted and I wanted to share a positive story. They run a very professional establishment. Wow..what an aweful experience. I usually do not write such negative reviews, but this place is totally crazy. The owner, who is out of his mind, was cutting my hair and I don't know what happened, but started SCREAMING at his asst., right in front of me, like i wasn't there paying for a haircut. The person who blew my hair after the cut told me that this was not out of the ordinary, and the owner was known for screaming at employees in front of clients all the time. She even told me he once chased around a former employee with scizzors!! Those poor people! The abuse!! Well, I don't know why they are still working there, but I know when the money is good (as I am sure it's pretty good), it's hard to leave. No wonder I am reading reviews on the snotty employees, I mean, come on, this place should be closed down. No question. Employees, step forward and stop being abused. Thank you nubest for giving me the best hair I have ever had!! I never knew I could get volume and style out of my formerly shapeless hair but now I just get up and go... and feel like a HOTTIE! When I made the phone call to make an appointment, a lady answered ""hello?"" I thought I dialed the wrong number until I asked if it was Nubest salon. I told her that I wanted to make an appointment, and she sounded like she was disgusted. This really happened! Well, when I got to the salon, I had to ""check in"" at the front desk. I was totally ignored. When I was finally being helped by an older woman probably in her 50s, she was not friendly at all and rather intimidating. She is probably someone who worked there for a while and hates her job.\r \r When I was getting my hair washed, two girls were gathered around me talking to the person washing my hair. I thought that was really obnoxious. They were complaining about who was going to clean the hair out of sinks. I was really tired and I just want to have a relaxing time. I don't want to hear BS the whole time my hair is getting washed. \r \r My stylist gave me a very nice hair cut. He knew what would be a nice cut for me. When the stylist's assistant was blowing out my hair, she kept talking to her co-worker at the same time . With the haircut plus tips, I paid about $100. I think the cost for fair for the cut. But I wouldn't ever go to that place again.But for a beautiful place like Nubest, it's really a shame that the staff is snotty and rude. They offer so many great services but it doesn't matter if it's not customer oriented. \r \r It was just a nasty experience for me. \r \r I think this place has great potential. I WENT IN THERE LAST YR. KNOWING WHAT I WANTED, I CLEARLY TOLD THE HAIRDRESSER AND HE UNDERSTOOD WHAT COLOR I WANTED.APPARENTLY HE DIDNT, HE EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO GIVE ME AN ATTITUDE FOR HIS MISTAKE.NOW I KNOW WHY THEY DONT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, EVERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER,WHICH IM SURE THERE WERE PLENTY, MUSTVE CALLED THEIR COMPANY TO GET THEIR $$ BACK...
