Zake Sushi Lounge

I had been looking forward to trying this restaurant and was very impressed by its appearance when I entered. However, our meal was the most diasterous dining experience in many years. The ginger dressing was absolutely BLAND with NO TASTE WHATSOEVER. The chef (we were at the hibachi grill) ran out of ingredients THREE TIMES and had to stop the action each time and wait on more food to be brought from the kitchen (they appear to be obsessed with overserving by even one milligram!). He then served an entree to the wrong customer and, since he could not remove the food from the person's plate, we stopped once again to wait on more shrimp to come from the kitchen. We were repeatedly told they were understaffed, but isn't that THEIR problem? Go to Tokyohana or Benihana instead! Pros: Nice design Cons: Incompetent kitchen, Incompetent cooks, Mediocre food more

I was so excited that a new hibachi restaurant was opening closer to my house! Royal Japan has lived up to my highest expectations. I have eaten here 4 times since they've opened, and each time has been excellent. They have some of the best shrimp tempura I've had in Houston! The hibachi is excellent as well, especially the filet mignon. It's a great value, too - all their hibachi prices include soup, a side salad, and shrimp appetizer. Everything is fresh, and the wait staff bends over backwards to make sure everyone is happy. I would definitely recommend for lunch and dinner. Pros: great hibachi, shrimp tempura, good service more
