Best

We went to Virgilio’s with another couple for their New Year’s Eve winner pairing dinner. I have been to a few wine dinners but this was by far the best. We started with a aperi...

Worst

Service is not very well trained and seemed hurried at times. The food is on the average side, but WAY over priced. Might be worth trying again on a slow night, but I am not...

Best Lunch Deals Around, Great pizza 6/26/2006

I stop for lunch at Virgilio's 3 times a week. There is no other place around that offers 19 lunch specials 7 days a week for the price and quailty. I am hooked on the 2 slice and meatball hero's specials. I have yet to have a bad meal there. It has been fun watching the world cup in HD during lunch. Great, Great pizza. Slices are always fresh Pros: lunch specials, great pizza, stromboli more

The Greatest Pizza on the Planet!! 6/25/2006

Great Pie. 6/23/2006

After walking inside I knew this would be a great time!!! The smell of the pie in the air was just the thing. The staff was great and the price was reasonable!!!! Gotta try the meatball sub. It looked great and smelled even better.\r \r I hope people realize that Anthony's is not the best pie in town...You gotta give this place a try...It just might susprise YOU!!! Pros: Great food, price and staff Cons: one one location and there is not a patio more

Look no more for the best pizza pie in Denver 6/7/2006

Wow, I found this place after the Denver Post review. There pizza is awesome!!! I love the crust and there cheese. You must try a fresh pie out of the oven to truly appreciate the quality. I love the pizza Marghertia, the Greek pizza, and the house favorite. .\r \r Still the best after all these years. Pros: nice people, clean, HDTV Cons: only just one location more

Worth the drive. Best Pizza In Denver 4/22/2006

follow Tucker Shaw in the Denver Post. When he wrote a pizza review I was very excited. I tried Virgilio's Pizzeria and The Oven. These pizzas are so different that if was almost not fair to compare them. Virgilio's hands down has true NY Style pizza that I challenge is the best is Colorado. When I tried the oven it was good, but it is yuppie cracker pizza that is overpriced and leaves you still hungry with there 10"" pie and a bit broker. I also thought Virgilio's was a nicer place for a date with the Italian opera and nice booths. The oven was loud and whats up with the long cafeteria tables? I suggest the cheese only pie to really taste the crust, sauce, and cheese. These people truly care about there quality it shows. Well done Virgilio and staff. Thanks Jenny Pros: great cheese, nice place, nice people Cons: one location more

Ravioli brought a tear to my eye 4/13/2006

Just moved here from NY. Saw the review in the Denver Post yesterday, and knowing that the critic was from NY as well, just had to see what he was raving about. Well, for once the critic was right. The best pizza I have had since I got here, and the Ravioli brought a tear to my eye. Baked Ziti is next on my list. I'll try it when I go back. And I will definately be back. Thanks V. Pros: comfortable, great food, great service more

Lakewood's Little Italy 4/12/2006

The beautiful decor, and attention to detail with the interior should have been my first clue. If they put that much into the wall art, what did they put into the Marinara? Much to my surprise, the food was as fresh as the surroundings. The mozzarella as intriguing as the italian music, and the garlic knots as genuine as the Southern Italian owner, Virgilio. I am very pleased with my visit, and overwhelmed by the food and atmosphere. Lakewood's very own Little Italy. Perfection on so many levels. Run, don't walk. Pros: great menu, great food, great prices Cons: very romantic,, you'll fall in love!, you'll never leave! more

Great Place for Family and Friends 3/20/2006

Virgilio's is the perfect place for family and friends to enjoy great food. The pizza is unbelievably good, cooked with amore. Virgilio, the owner, has taken great care to hand pick only the finest ingredients, and the results show. You won't find pizza like this anywhere else in Denver. We drive 30 miles round trip just for the pizza. Try the signature Margherita pizza, which even the meat lovers in my family can't resist. The sausage pizza is also a favorite. Since Virgilio's is right near the Gold Crown Field House, this is a great place to go after basketball or volleyball games. And with pizza by the slice, the whole team can be eating in no time. Pros: Best pizza in town, Great value, Good atmosphere more

Absolutely Delicious 3/17/2006

I used to work at this same location when it was Nick N Willys Take and Bake and when I first tried Virgilio's I was amazed at what he did with the place. Better ingredients= Remarkable pizza! You have got to try their spinach pinwheels, I'm not even a huge fan of spinach but these are really really good! I get one every time I go. more

User review by mikemantle 3/14/2006

Slave of Marinara 2/15/2006

That is the best Marinara sauce I have ever had. Sorry Mom! And the garlic nuggets were fantastic. Pros: Smells great in there, Balsamic Vinegrette, Marinara Sauce more

I left my heart in Virgilio's Pizzeria 2/14/2006

Freshly made AMAZING salads, tossed right before my eyes by the captivating Gabriel. The owner, Virgilio, is not too bad himself! They were even excited about the perfect basil leaves to put on top of my Margherita Pizza. Great attention to detail. And the Italian music is a really nice touch. Probably my new favorite place to go. Pros: Margherita Pizza, Atmosphere, Great wines Cons: Owner is married more

I Love This Place!! Best Pie Around!! 2/14/2006

Like everyone, I have been looking for great pie since I have been in Colorado. You always hear you gotta try place only to be disappointed. I found Virgilios from city search. It was a 20 minute drive and worth it. Maybe I was very hungry that day, but it was the best pie I have had in Colorado in 5 years. The cheese, pizza sauce and the crust were incredible. I watched some other pies come out that looked great but cheese is the only way to test pizza. The place is nice, clean and the staff was very nice considering everyone was very busy. I love the open kitchen and the nice feel the place has. I will be coming back for many years. Pros: Great Cheese, Pizza By The Slice, Nice Place Cons: Only 1 Location more

Great Pizza, Great service, way to go Virgilio 2/3/2006

Want a great pizza? Try Virgilio's. This was undeniably the best pizza I've had since moving to Colorado. The sicilian pizza was a sight to behold, and wait 'til you taste it. There's lots of great food on the menu, pizza, calzones, strombolis, subs, and salads. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great feast. Way to go Virgil... Pros: Great food, Great variety, Large portions more

Best Pizza in Denver area 2/3/2006

It's the best pizza I have eatin in town. The staff are friendly. I feel like I'm family when I'm there. more

Worth the trip from anywhere! 1/27/2006

We just moved from the East coast and went looking for good pizza like we used to get back in Boston. We found it at Vergilio's! The pizza is as good or better than anything we got back home. The crust is crispy and light and the homemade sauce is naturally sweet without added sugar. The garlic knots are a delicious treat! The staff is freindly and the atmosphere is inviting. It is well worth the trip from anywhere! Pros: Good value, Great food more

WOW!!! 1/27/2006

Wow, what a great place. I love this place I will recomend it to everyone. The pizza is exceptional. The ingrediants taste fresh. The atmosphere is very friendly, Gabriel is so funny. The owner Virgilio has a great attention for detail. The service is fast. It is also very clean. I am very glad this is in my nieghborhood. I've been in a couple times I love the stromboli. Pros: lovely place more

Check out the Oven 1/23/2006

Virgilio uses high quality ingredients in all of the food that he serves. What separates him from other Pizzeria's is that he uses a brick lined oven, which creates a superior crust that others can't match. His ""take and bake"" pizza is great, but I suggest that you take the time to eat at the restaurant to taste the difference from it being served right from the brick lined oven. The pizza alone will make you come back, but make sure you try other choices from the menu. Outstanding food, staff and service. Pros: great food, place to hang out, La Rossa beer Cons: only one location, no outdoor seating more

Great Food!! 1/21/2006

I moved from NY 10 years ago and have been trying to find some decent pizza and other Italian food in the Denver area. I have yet been able to find any stromboli in Denver until now. Virgilio's has a great stromboli! It takes 30 minutes to cook but the thing is probably 2 feet long!!! It comes with a generous side of Marinara sauce and tastes great. I order take-out at least once a week. Virgilio's is a hit with our family. Todd Pros: food, price, service Cons: no delivery more

GREAT CALZONES!! 1/18/2006

I have tried their Pizza and their Calzones and I thought the pizza was a bit greasy but it could have been the toppings we had. The veggie Calzone was GREAT! I will definitly be back for the Calzones. more
