Ok...take it from a new client that is hard to please - and not to ""chatty"" - ""Dallas"" was awesome. I was a bit nervous seeing a new colorist - but she quickly eased my fears with the way she listed to what I wanted. She then show me a few pix to be certain we were on the same page. As she performed her magic ... I really felt like I was enjoying time with someone that I already knew. Impossible - we'd just met. Long story short: I will only book appointments w/her from now on. PS: the hand message with Aveda lotion and the neck rub...yummy! Pros: A true professional begining to end! Cons: That she isn't in every city! more

Although I live over in the Smyrna/Vinings area, I decided that I would make the drive over to New Talents to get my haircut after finding out that my old stylist was moving out of the state. I have gotten my hair cut three times now by Nilan and couldn't be any happier. It is well worth the drive. She is very friendly and knowledgeable which is very refreshing. After having long hair pretty much my entire life I decided that I wanted a change. I was very nervous about getting my hair cut short, but Nilan made me feel at ease. She is great at explaining exactly what she is going to do and describes the products she uses throughout the session. She is great at figuring out what type of haircut is good for your face shape and style. I have walked out of New Talents loving my haircut and getting many compliments. I wasn't sure what to expect from the New Talent division of Van Michael, but many of my friends have had positive experiences there and I thought that I would try out an inexpensive haircut. My stylist was Nilan and she was incredibly professional in appearance and how she spoke to me. I have been to other stylists who ask you what kind of haircut you are trying to achieve but then just end up doing whatever they feel like doing in the end. Nilan, however, sat me down and I really felt like I was able to explain to her what I wanted. Then she actually gave me a great haircut. She was very professionally and fashionably dressed and we chatted about current fashion, styles, etc and she seemed very knowledgeable. I have had stylists before who seemed more interested in gossiping with their friends than paying attention to me and how I am doing, but Nilan wasn't like that at all. Overall I had a really great experience. I got a cute haircut and really felt like I was given service far above what I have received at other salons. Pros: great haircut more

I just want to say that Nilan is the best stylist I have ever had. You would never know that she is a ""New Talent."" I was a little nervous at first, ya know, going to a ""New Talent"" salon, but Nilan immediately made me feel at ease right from the beginning of our appointment. We sat down together and THOROUGHLY discussed my hair style process. She was very insightful in her opinions and suggestions. I had previously had my hair cut by several other stylists, trying to find my permanent match, but they all had just cut one sloppy cut to another... Eventually when I found Nilan, she shaped my cut so that I no longer look like Frankenstein and gave me cute bangs that really shape my face well. Every time I see her she is super gorgeous and she is really friendly and easy to talk to (cause you know that's important). She truly has a passion for hair and she takes her time to make sure that you are extremely satisfied, in contrast to other stylists that I have seen where they just try to hurry through the appointment because they have other people waiting. I went in the other day to get my color done and I left looking like a freak! Quinn said my hair looked great as she began to socialize with other stylists. I had no time to say I hated it!!! I hated her and my hair...so i went to someone else and they fixed my hair. This is the funny part, the lady who fixed my hair had just fixed another one of Quinn's mistakes!!!!! Hello!\r My name is Monika and I visited Van Michael Salon in Buckhead last week. \r I was assign to Quinn (sorry, if I spell her name wrong). She was nice at first, we chat for a while and then she asked my about my color. I told her I had it done about 4 months ago and my roots and my ands are almost the same color. I asked if I can have chocolate brown color with some highlights. She said ?no?!!! And that?s were I should have leave the place. Nobody ever told me that before. ?You have really dark hair, I can?t do this, maybe next time? bla bla bla? I was shocked. But than ? my fault- I decided to stay. She prepared two bottles with different colors. one for roots and onbe for ends, as she explained. After drying and shampooing I sat in front of the mirror and immediately saw the huge difference between my roots and my ends. But Quinn said ? oh, it?s only because your hair is wet? !!! Can you imagine that???????????? That is SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello, I?m sitting in front of the mirror, I can see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r That?s when I got really upset!! Not only she messed up my hair, but she is brave enough to lie to me????? She said that the next step will be cutting my hair. And if I?m still not happy with the color she?ll fix it. Yeah, I was very unhappy, thank you for noticing.\r Experience with Kelly didn?t improve my overall experience at all. She was rushing trough the cutting. And 5 minutes later (when I got my hair fixes) she was running out. Oh, the end of the day, who cares that the customer is unhappy!!!!!!!!! I need to be fair and say that I like the hair cut. Sitting under the dryer, I felt like my skin is burning.\r She shampooed my hair and she tried to make me feel comfortable talking about salon makeup artist. I didn?t see it. My roots were (and they still are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) at least two shades lither than my ends. Lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\r She stopped one of the makeup artist (don?t know his name), explained my situation and asked him about his opinion. He said the color looks great. I was absolutely shocked! The Van Michael Salon hire really rude or really blind guys!!!!\r \r And I was ?ready? to go.\r And there is another surprise. Like I didn?t have enough. \r At the front desk there was a manager (don?t remember his name). He asked me about my experience. I told him all above. He said ?I?m sorry? but I didn?t feel he was. Especially when he asked me ? do you want extra cash to your tip????????? for what??????????????????????? Excuse me??????\r \r But that?s not the end of the story. I finally gave tip to Kelly (20% to be exact) and I was going to Quinn?s station to give her hers very well earned 10%. Yes., that was a sarcasm!!!\r And what I see? Quinn sitting at the makeup artist chair and receiving a make up!!!!!!!!!! Ok, is that why she was in rush??? Is that why Van Michael salon hired her ?? Is that a rule in VAN MICHAEL SALON to put their hairdresser in front of the customer??????????????\r \r Btw did I mention that next day was my birthday and I really wanted to look good? Well, I wasn?t. Van MIchael Salon ruined my hair as well as my birthday! \r I will never tell anybody anything good about VAN MICHEAL SALON. Upon walking into Van Michael Salon, I was a little intimidated. I have been to large salons all over New York and LA, but this place was huge! Thankfully someone greeted me when I walked in, showed me around and introduced me to my stylist ""7"" and my colorist Nikki. They took it from there. They looked at my hair color and texture (Graying and a bit thin) and came up with a look that was suitable for my face, but also that I could do myself! Along the way Nikki was very entertaining and when I wasn't being worked on I was massaged and pampered. 7 then showed me how to fix my hair myself and I have loved just as much every day since I left the salon. A couple weeks ago, I got my first new talent haircut at Van Michael Salon. I had previously been seeing a senior stylist whose name will remain anonymous who I had been very happy with but just couldn't afford anymore due financial pressures at home. And let me just say that my experience with Nilan was AMAZING--if not BETTER than my previous haircuts which were fabulous experiences to begin with. Nilan gave me the best haircut that for once really brought attention to my cheekbones and as she pointed out, drew people to my eyes which were hidden before. Let's face it. Atlanta is not the capital of style or fashion. I do admit it's getting better due to the likes of VM salon. Brandon D. has been cutting my hair for 13 year now. I always believed he is one of the best in the nation. The best part is that he understands me and the need for evolution as we get older. He's taken me through the punkier, multi-colored-hair college days to more ""conservative"" executive bob I require today. Even my now ""conservative"" do is stylish. I've never asked for any particular cut, he's just always understood his clients...no matter their age, personality, or life style. I can't even begin to count the number of times strangers have stopped me to ask ""who cuts your hair?"" This question has been consistent for all 13 years1 Brandon is definitely doing his part in making Atlanta more stylish. Thanks for everything! Let me start off by saying I am very very picky. I feel like I am spending my money, I want what I ask for. Sasha was my stylist and she was GREAT! She totally listened to what I wanted, didn't flinch when I told her how picky I am, in fact she said "" I know how to listen"" She gave me what I asked for and more she cut my hair how it needed to be cut, based on texture and the shape of my face. I made several appointments in advance before I left the salon that day. I LOVE MY SHORT HAIR CUT!!!!!. I had just got done running befor my appointment so I kinda felt out of place with my attire. But sasha made me feel very comfortable saying that several people come in work out clothes. I would recommend this salon and stylist to a friend. I have used Van Michael for years. The girl who highlights my hair, Lauren, is FANTASTIC! I have not had someone with the training and talent that she has. She colors my hair to match my skin tones. She does an outstanding job. The professionalism at this salon is top notch. The ladies that check you out at the end are great, as well. Plus, Van Michael has these wonderful customer appreciation days about every quarter. Great time to stock up on all the Aveda products they sell. OH! the ladies who do the make-up, outstanding, too. I have been a client at Van Michael's for over 12 years, which I think speaks for itself. They are a classy and upscale hair salon and, yes, the services costs more. But I believe you get what you pay for when it comes to hair style and color. The stylists and colorists are well trained and continue to work there for years while keeping up with the classics and the trends which, again, speaks for itself. They are provided opportunity to grow and improve and establish great service provided relationships with their clients. I personally have developed a friendship with my stylist who was in New Talents when I first started seeing him and now - married with two beautiful daughters later - is teaching others and attending shows for Van Michael's. And I have developed a close friendship with my colorist as one of my dearest friends. Not to say this is a requirement or 'extra' for Van Michaels, just showing how great the people are on a personal level in addition to their admirable skill and knowledge. I also love the truly provided 'extras' when I visit - the friendly smiles, the offer of a beverage, a hand massage and/or neck massage, the cleanliness, the clean gowns, the plastic bags for your handbag....all appreciated! The product choices with the Aveda line are varied for your needs and, although it's been awhile, you can receive a makeup consultation for free for the Aveda makeup. This salon is way over priced for the ?lack? of customer service you receive. They act like is a huge problem if you are 5 minutes late (was even turned away one time) but on the other hand they make you wait 30 minutes if they are running late?.and they are always running late! I have dark brown hair and have always wanted it to be blonde, whenever I get it done I have no idea what the end result will be... platinum or orange.
