Uptown Family Dentistry

I went to Dr. Ong for 2 years, mainly because it was too much of a pain to change primary dentist. I finally made the switch to a new dentist. Thank God. Dr. Ong never really cleaned my teeth whenever I went in. So now I have to get a deep cleaning. Also, he sealed a tooth that had already been filled, which apparently is a big no no and therefore my insurance wouldn't cover the costs. I'm not sure how a dentist can get away with all this... Nice guy though. more

I have never experienced a better dentist service than Uptown Dentist. I have a new dental plan through work and was given a list of local offices. I was really unsure about choosing them, since I had gone to my old doctor since I was little. All my co workers suggested him. It was easy to make an appointment, and was able to get in right away. When I got there they were very helpful and friendly. Dr. Ong was right there the whole time instead of having his assistant do all the work and then only coming in to check up on her work. He was able to schedule a root canal for me the very next day, and work out a payment plan for me. It was done quickly and efficiently. The best part was he called me 4 hours later to see if I was doing okay and if I was experiencing any pain. No one does that anymore! It just goes to show that he really cares about his patients. I will definitely be using them from now on more

This facility is not high tech, but I do not want to pay for a high tech office. Thay have parking behind the building. I have 2 crowns done 2 months ago and have no sensitivity at all. Dr. Ong is very good with shots, I did not even feel it. The staff is friendly and thay always make sure that tou are ok. more

Going here was absolutely the WORST dental/medical/business experience of my life. The office and all of their equipment is seriously outdated. I showed up 5 minutes early to my appointment and waited another 15 before anyone even noticed that I was there. Dr. Ong not only decided to fill my cavities WHILE cleaning my teeth (no joke- he'd clean a little, work on the filling a little, and it went back and forth like that for nearly two hours), but he also decided that I NEEDED white fillings on my BACK teeth, which are significantly more expensive than silver, and completely unnecessary. His assistant had her spray/suction device so far back in my mouth that I was constantly gagging. She never moved it. When I left- the receptionist had a hard time figuring out what to do with my insurance and how I was supposed to be billed. Cue two days later- I'm eating lunch when I suddenly have intense stabbing pain in the back of my mouth- where one of my fillings WAS. Yep, half of it broke and came out. I called and asked them to reverse my insurance claim, so that I'd be able to go in somewhere else and have my tooth repaired (note on that- it's more than two months later, and I'm still waiting on the refund from my deductible- I just called and had the receptionist chew me out and blame my insurance company. RIGHT.) When I went in to get my tooth repaired (this is at a new dentist) he discovered that not only had my filling broken in half, but Dr. Ong had also ground down the tooth next to it, AND drilled so far into my "repaired" tooth that he had actually caused nerve damage to the point of me needing to get an emergency root canal. Several thousand dollars, tons of pain and tears, and two months later- I still haven't seen a penny from Dr. Ong, and he continues to deny that he had any part in damaging any of my teeth. He and his staff have been rude, argumentative, and unwilling to hear my side of things. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY GOING HERE. more

I am a very fearful patient, but Dr. Ong make me feel at ease. He explained to me what's going on and my options. I had 2 crowns done on my lower right side 1 month ago, good color match and excellent fit, would definitely go back to this office. more

I have not been to a dentist for a long time, Dr. Ong was very complete in his exam and was able to fix my cavities during my first appointment, saving me a lot of time. I am telling my co workers about my good experience here and will definitely go back to this office. more

People are mostly right that he's a fairly no pain dentist. However, this dentist ordered more procedures than any dentist I've ever had. He misdiagnosed that I ground my teeth ordered some expensive contraption and then said "oh, never mind, that's just your bite". Worst of all he started drilling without even explaining what he was going to do. I didn't know he had filled 3 cavities until I got the bill. I don't even know how many were new and how many were filling replacements. Just a bad experience that has kept me up all night worrying about what he might have done to my mouth. I will not be going back, and would not recommend this dentist. more

Had a root canal treated by Dr. Ong on an emergency basis. He did it on me with no pain and the tooth has felt better ever since. Strongly recommend this dentist. more

Dr. Ong gives pain free injections, very efficient, I am always scared of the dentist, but he puts me at ease. The dentist was able to do all my fillings in one appt, a long one, but well worth it, now I just go there every 6 months. more

I have not been happy with my services at Dr. Ongs office. I changed dentist from one I had for several years only because of new insurance and I am in the process of looking for a new one. I feel that my cleanings are too quick and not complete and the quality of the work is less than acceptable. I have had several feelings fall out and the most irritating thing of all is dealing with he office manager Jason who is no longer there. He was rude, arrogant and acted like a bill collector. My husbands job is very unpredictable with strange hours and he had to cancel several times beyond his control. We were scolded and we chastised and lectured on breaking appointments. I got into a argument over the lack of flexibility. My past dentist was so accommodating and the staff so friendly and they always worked with me. Dr. Ongs staff is business as usual. I would not recommend this dentist. more

I had a crown done with Dr Ong. It fit the first time is still functioning fine and I've been back since for regular cleaning. The staff was efficient and through...while not gabby, they did answer all of my questions to my satisfaction....I will continue to see Uptown Dentistry :) more

Right on time, no waiting , great anesthestic technique, did not even feel it. I will recommend to anyone in Lower QA. more

I had a filling put in last October. It fell out within a month. I went back and had it fixed, only to have it fall out this past summer. I do not recommend Dr. Ong. Beyond that, the office is in a gloomy converted house. more

I have been going to Uptown Family Dentistry for several years. Dr. Ong is a sincere and conscientious dentist. He always runs on time, a rarity among health professionals. They are very flexible with you if you need a payment plan for your dental treatment. A great choice in Queen Ann. more

When I went to Uptown Family Dentistry, it seemed that making money was more important than the patients. During the first cleaning, he tried to get me to sign up for teeth whitening (even though I was about 22 years old and living on raman). I had a few cavities that needed to be pulled, and scraped together the money to pay for those three. While he was in my mouth, he started filling in several more cavities that he had not noticed before. I wonder if they really needed to be filled (filled spots that my family dentist had always thought were fine). One of the places he decided to fill in was on the front of a front tooth. Within six months the filling fell apart, leaving a brown spot on my teeth. I ended up going back down to Portland to have my family dentist correct it. more

I went to Uptown once to see Dr. Ong. Although nothing went wrong, I was not very happy with the service. Both the Dr. and the Hygienist did not carefully explain things and the Dr. actually started drilling on my teeth with no Novocaine or warning. I decided after that to go find a different dentist. more
